TR Emeritus blocked by Google’s Chrome browser

It has been brought to our attention that since 13th May, readers visiting TR Emeritus (TRE) using Google’s Chrome browser have been receiving an alert message warning about Malware on the website.

The Malware BS alert

We wish to assure our readers that since TRE was revived in 2011 (7 years ago), we have been keeping the website as “clean as technically possible” and have never needed to resort to intentionally allowing porn or malicious Malware to appear on our website in order to generate revenue.

On a few occasions where our advertisers had inserted porn or Malware in their ad tags, we have always acted promptly to remove them and our stance have never changed.

Although we are very confident that we do not have malicious Malware installed on our website to allegedly “steal or delete” visitors’ information, we decided to play safe and scanned our servers with ClamAV immediately (although ClamAV is installed on all our servers and is run daily).  The result was of course “negative”.

As an added precaution, we used an online Malware scanner “Web Inspector” to check TRE and the result was again “negative”.

Not convinced and to err on the safe side, we scanned TRE again with Foregenix and the result was again “negative”, only that our website has been blacklisted by Google.

As can be seen, other than Google’s so-called “Safe Browsing” technology blacklisting TRE, most malware scanners have certified the website as clean, except that TRE has been banned by Google via its so-called “Safe Browsing” technology.

Updated @ 2pm, 14th May: TRE has submitted an application to StopBadware for an independent review of our website.  We will then decide on the next course of action once we have the result.

* StopBadware performs independent reviews of websites that are blacklisted for badware by our data providers. StopBadware currently has three main data providers: Google, GFI, and NSFocus. These companies provide StopBadware with regularly updated lists of URLs that they have detected as bad. If your site is listed as bad by Google or another of the companies that provides data to StopBadware, you can request an independent review.

The Workaround

Since we have not been able to contact a living person at Google beginning this year on a TRE related matter ( always auto-responder and template reply supposedly manned by super-smart AIs – We will reveal more on this in a future editorial, including the numerous ‘coincidences and special treatment’ of TRE dating back to when Google decided to setup a regional office in Singapore ), there is little we can do about the “black list” status.

For the time being, should our readers decide to trust us and would like to continue to use Chrome to surf TRE on desktops, there is a way around the annoying BS thrown by Chrome, which is to disable (un-click) the following under the browser “settings”  (type in address bar: chrome://settings/)> Show advanced settings> Privacy.

For Android smartphones, open Google Chrome App on your Android Smartphone then go to More > Settings > Advanced settings > Privacy > Safe Browsing and Un-click “Protect you and your device from dangerous sites”.

Most if not all of our visitors have various renown AV programs installed, that are much more reliable and well-tested than Google’s so-called “Safe Browsing” technology and our humble opinion (concurred by many others on the internet and Google’s own users) is to trust the installed AV programs or else why bother to install one?

Currently, due to the so-called “Safe Browsing” technology that Google implements on its Chrome browser, more than 10,000 websites are banned per day, resulting in its users being denied access to millions of legitimate websites worldwide, including but not limited to almost all websites that uses URL shortener, like bit.ly, etc. Even Facebook and Google have occasionally been banned by the Chrome browser. [ LINK ]

The best and less troublesome option is to use other browsers like Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla Firefox (without Safe Browsing add ons) or 360 browser (fast Chinese browser c/w AV) that are much more light-weight and reliable – without the unnecessary BS that the fat, bulky and resource-intensive Chrome has.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and do feel free to contact our techie should you have other concerns or queries.

P/S: A piece of added advice for Chrome users who are extremely particular about privacy. Uninstall Google’s Chrome browser altogether and if you really have to use Chrome, DO NOT “Sign in to Chrome” and do it only when you really have to and log out immediately after that (Settings > Sign in).

From the moment you sign in, ALL YOUR ACTIVITIES  will be tracked, monitored and stored, including but not limited to “your bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings on all your devices” unless you specifically disable each and every single option you DO NOT want tracked or saved. [ More info ]

Unlike passwords, logins and address book which are normally stored locally (on the user’s desktop computers) by browsers such as Internet Explorer or 360, Chrome actually stores the gathered information on Google’s cloud servers (which are manned by ‘Tom’, accessible by ‘Dick’ , may be hacked by ’Harry’ and can be summoned by ‘Polis’).

Hypothetically,  if a certain former prime minister has been using Chrome in his work and play (for example sexing his mistress) and collecting donations via internet banking from Arab billionaires, ALL these information are tracked, monitored and stored on Google’s cloud servers, if he is signed in and have not log out during the previous session (sign in is automatic when starting Chrome).

Should one day the prime minister be ousted and he decides to get rid of all the adverse information from his desktop, he can microwave the hard disks and fry the motherboard, but Google and Tom or Dick or Harry would still have all the information – to pass to the relevant authorities if there is an investigation.

.

* The technical information on Chrome are gathered from the Internet, actual usage experience and tests conducted. It is not conclusive and stands corrected.

  • Money talks:

Civilization has taken a reversed turn when greed raises its head. It is now not integrity, honesty, uprightness and knowledge talk, only money talks esp in SIN. U got monies, u get arrogant, derogate all those having less than u including your relatives, friends and esp your enemies, por those have more than u even they look down and spit on you since you have something special he does not have that is a humongous lp u r poring since you join the club. But if he por bigger lp, then you sioy lah.
This is how it works in this civilization. PRC has a pissinf slogon move forward a small step civilization move a bigger step. PLP treasures this slogon to polish up their act.
Interesting though, of late one seem to hear kopitiam whisper. Ya ya GDP up. Good for self glorification and gratification. But what the fock has it benefit SINkies except more taxes, no more hdb flat, fast reducing cpf. GDP up citizens die standing lah. Basket biws.

Wah ! Google Chrome “kenna pressurized” into doing such things ?

Goes to show how “worried” Pap and the Naked Emperor and his entourage of cronies are with the results of Malaysia election.

As always,…it will be “those guilty at heart” that will always use “dirty means” to “block the truth” from surfacing !

Best joke of all,…now Dr M is also going to “review” the fake news law enacted by Najib just a few weeks ago.

This clearly shows how “ugly and dirty” our pappy is !

Oh TRE, not sure what other means you have to reach out to netizens other than this website and your Facebook page.

Perhaps you guys could also set up a blog like Uncle Philip, Uncle Leong? Not too sure about the number of comments they would get though. Copy and paste articles should not be an issue if you had both a website and blog.

Mod: TRE has no official Facebook page due to privacy concerns. Our tech is working on syncing our website to Tweeter and possibly a mirror site for TRE.
