What’s the follow up on the MP parking issue?

I am disappointed and somewhat surprised that the Singapore government has not responded officially in relation to the parking saga that hit headlines over the course of the last few weeks. Many social media posts have been uploaded decrying the privilege as unfair and disproportionate.

On the face of things, it is manifestly unjust. An annual fee of SGD365 to park at so many car parks across the country when everyone else has to pay triple that or more just because you are an elected MP seems way too excessive.

I understand that MPs do “constituency work” but to put things in perspective, they are well remunerated to do the job. In this regard, how are they different from any other person who drives to work? If you choose to drive to work, you have to pay for it. Honestly, I can’t see the difference?

Contrast this with teachers who are also public servants. Arguably, they are doing an even more valuable job by educating the young (some of them would be children of these same elected MPs). Why then do they have to pay triple the amount that the elected MPs pays?

I know that many people have already written about this but before we move on, we do need to ask some very basic questions and ensure that they are addressed.

Firstly, as elected MPs voted in to serve the people, why didn’t they raise this parking issue in Parliament? It is very clearly a much lower fee than what other people are paying and the elected MPs can’t possibly pretend that they are not aware of parking costs in land scarce Singapore. Surely, they ought to have queried this heavily subsidised parking fee in the first place? I am disappointed that this information took so long to even be disclosed to the public and am even more disappointed that the elected MPs who are well remunerated never once questioned this arguably unethical benefit.

Secondly, why hasn’t anyone from the government issued a public statement on this? Surely it is worth addressing? Especially in the face of other civil servants such as teachers being told that their salaries needed to be clean? How can no statement be issued? This is tantamount to ignoring public concerns and dismissing our understandable indignance on the issue.

Last but not least, are our elected MPs going to do anything about this unfair practice? Are they going to end this practice? Honestly, they really should. It cannot be one rule for MPs and another for everyone else. They are just doing a paid job like everyone else. Unless MPs view themselves as superior and therefore deserving of privileges that other Singaporeans do not? If so, this attitude of superiority really has to end NOW. It kinda stinks.

There is silence because they were caught and exposed. By keeping quiet, they hope the issue will fade away from the people’s memory. That is the classic trick.

But you can pick up a lot of these privileges that these PAP MPs and hanger-ons have. Those in working for the PAP in constituency offices also have privileges that other Singaporeans do not have. We should make a list of such privileges enjoyed by these parasites so that it can be publicised during election rallies for the PAP to answer.

On another topic, this Edwin Tong, is spouting out and showing his ignorance. He strikes me as one who grew up in a groove, greased with money and privilege and is so well insulated from the reality of the world that he is so ignorant about struggles of the poor and not so poor.

This kind of people have the expertise identify the gravy train and will latch on to it. Whichever regime is in power they will be on it.

It is time for the great awakening–both for the citizens and the PAP.

peg the parking rates to GE results.

if PAP wins 60%, the parking rates become $60,000 per year for everyone including ministers and MPs.
unlimited parking all day all hours at all HDB car parks.

if PAP wins 70%, the parking rates become $70,000 per year for everyone including ministers and MPs.
unlimited parking all day all hours at all HDB car parks.

(an annual parking allowance is claimable for PAP ministers and MPs)

let’s move on. let’s focus on OPPOSITION coalition to form New Government GE2019. then we won’t have such one law two interpretations ever again.

  • Tremendous:

Some MPs also double up as ministers, mayors, deputy PMs, PMs and PM designates. All of them who receive such benefits sure know how to ignore public feedback. When there is a cost increase, they line up all their arguments and ask the public to bear. When they have cost increase, they keep their mouths shut and continue to do so even after public queries. Also you will notice that no public servant ever spoke up on the issue, so to claim that they are completely neutral and ethical is rubbish.

  • Selfish Sinkie Syndrome:

Follow up? What follow up do you expect?

If it was an issue with opposition, like the WP town council issues, they will surely “follow-up” and chase for more than a year, but in the end even CPIB got no good case to pursue, and Pap And Pay no case to sue at all.

Another great example is the Oxley saga, all hush hush now after the disaster, with LXL hoping everyone will forget with time.

Yet another example is the attacks from so many Pappies on Sylvia Lim on her “test balloons” comment on GST increase. After Slyvia did her fantastic return volley back to Pay And Pay, all of them, especially that Grace FOol all totally silenced and completely neutralized. Now, with enough time…they are just hoping that embarrassing episode gets forgotten by the 69.9% idiots.

I could go on and on….with so many examples of the double standards and self-serving hypocrisy of the Pay And Pay.

That is how every time Pay And Pay themselves got their own rats tails exposed, they just keep quiet and let everything blow over with time, so obviously there won’t be any “follow up”. Then, when the next election comes, the 69.9% idiots forget everything and only focus on the cheapskate free little chicken drumlets dished out by the Pay And Pay.

Frankly, I don’t care about Singapore anymore since my kids are going overseas and getting their PRs elsewhere. The next generation of Singaporeans will either get displaced completely or go extinct. Either way, there is no more Singaporean identity anymore and nothing much for Singaporeans to look forward to except work, eat, sleep then see Pay And Pa win majority again and again until they kick the bucket.

It was a fun ride for about 50 years though….but, its all game over now and Selfish Sinkies can only blame themselves for not having the courage to “follow up” on their VTO threats.

If YOU Singaporeans don’t “follow up” on your voting actions, then why should you expect Pay And Pay to “follow up” for you ??

MPs could not afford to lose their highest paid part-time job since no other country could pay jiak-liao-bee people with the same rate, benefits and entitlements. Secondly, only Singapore has all the PLP to support the mean policies.
