Are citizens getting more unahppy and openly critical towards PAP?

On Thursday (12 Jul),  there were 2 photos which have gone viral on social media.

First, a photo emerged whereby a middle-aged man was seen at a provision store wearing a T-shirt with the words “F*** PAP”. On the same day, another picture emerged with a man on the MRT wearing a T-shirt which asked for the return of his CPF monies.

A tongue-in-cheek message accompanied the latter T-shirt, where the demands to return the CPF were passed from Lee Kuan Yew to Goh Chock Tong to Lee Hsien Loong. The caption accompanying Lee Hsien Loong’s image was “you ask me, I ask who. You wait long long lah”.

According to an opinion piece by socio-political commentator Devadas Krishnadas, “the fundamental source of unhappiness of CPF members… is the perception that the ‘goalposts’ are arbitrarily being changed by Government”.

Earlier this year, the CPF minimum sum was increased to $181,000 for those turning 55 in 2020 while monthly annuity pay-outs now start at 70 unless one requests to receive the monies at 65. More recently, Careshield was introduced as a compulsory disability insurance even though the criteria for pay-outs has been too stringent.

Besides the CPF issues, it also appears that residents are unhappy at the general price hikes and costs of living.

Starting 1 July, prices of water and electricity tariffs have increased by 15% and 6.9% respectively even though the PUB has been making a profit of close to $1 billion a year on average for the past 13 years. As a result, many Singaporeans are looking to tighten their belts over utility bills increase.

For example, 56-year-old fruit seller Anna Chan now recycles water from her washing machine to clean the toilets and uses water from washing vegetables to water her plants. “Knowing that it’s now going to be (more expensive), we definitely have to cut down our usage… If not it’s very heart pain.”

Separately, Yahoo News reported recently (31 May) that according to a regular survey conducted by 2 NUS dons, Singaporeans are now less satisfied with their overall quality of life compared to previous surveys conducted in  1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011.

The 2016/17 survey, funded by NUS, is the fifth in a series of studies which were previously conducted in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011. A total of 1,503 Singaporean respondents – aged 15 years old and above – across a nationally-representative sample took part in the survey from October 2016 to February last year.

The quality of political leaders and policies could also be a factor that causes resentments towards the PAP.

While the previous PAP leadership promised HDB flats as an “asset enhancement” tool to compensate for the low CPF rates, incumbent MND Minister Lawrence Wong now reveals that HDBs will have $0 values as their lease expires. This resulted in the value of older HDB flats seeing a sharp plunge in value.

Separately, potential Prime Minister Ong Ye Kung imposes parking charges for teachers as a matter of “self-discipline” despite the generally held views that teachers have contributed intangibles to their jobs. Yet hypocritically, elected MPs pay a mere $365 a year for parking at Parliament and HDB carparks.

What do you think?

Well, we have to ask the kiasees if they have had enough of PAP to want to vote opposition or if they still cling to the 2 most famous reasons to continue voting PAP even if they want to vote for the opposition.

Any T-shirt printing company out there got balls to print the exact same words on red T-shirts and sell them for our Nat’l Day? 9 Aug is not far away. Got people dare to sell sure got people dare to wear.

Singaporeans’ hatred for the PAP has reached the boiling point. Protest is illegal. Vandalism is a crime. Wearing T-shirt with such words surely is not punishable by law, right?

Companies, time to make money! I’ll buy for my whole family. Anyone selling?

I cannot understand with CPF locked up forever, prices increased in everything, even with GST increase people still voted for PAP!!

With survey indicating unhappiness, unemployment of PMET, we still have 70% voted for the PAP.

Something must be very wrong either with SG’s voting system or the voters are stupid. Do voters know they can make the change? or they wait for others to do it?

  • Why suffered in silence:

Since it is difficult to organise vocal protest at speaker cornered,it is good idea to wear both T Shirts. Can the author find out where to buy these ? Alternatively we should stop displaying national flag during national day as a form of silent protest.Could anyone provide printing of the CPF t shirts,as I feel we should not use expletive. Instead t shirt should read PAP upside down ,with the word Enough, times up.

despite what pap PA paid IBs are trying to say in INTERNET, clown and his S$m gang know deep in their hearts resentment is deep, deeper than GE2011 period. in GE2011, clown pap and S$m gang lost, for the FIRST time, a GRC.

GE2015 was fluke. it wasn’t because of national CONversation. it was because of sentiment for pap departed evil lky.

GE2019 shall be different. we are recording every ffffing wrong of clown pap and S$m gang so that they zero chance to run road under New Government.

anyone thought najib would be charged before May 9, 2018? look at his speeches up to polling day. najib was arrogant, since he had durian selfie buddy across the river. now what happened to najib selfie durian buddy? INTERNET seems to say, najib calls were unanswered citing very busy. very busy with what? with trying to prevent same trouncing by OPPOSITION coalition in Singapore.

Dr Mahatir helped by saying, Singaporeans are sick and tired of clown pap and S$m gang BS since they have faked news for too long.

we, citizens of Singapore, 4 of us, agree with Dr Mahatir.

HOLOCAUST DENIAL OR OTHERWISE, the PAPpys lot must be worrying about a sudden affliction of “koro” now of the change in public sentiments on the ground.

My informed reliable source said that PAPpys Ministry of Communication recently engaged a commercial market research entity to do some survey research on actual sentiments among Sinkies. It was about PAPpy-politics and failed policies and how respondents felt of impact and confidence of future direction in the PAPpy policies.

Anyone residing in LEE-jiapore who might have done this survey can confirm if this is true.

For the uninitiated, koro was a strange “disease” of SUDDEN SHRINKAGE in young boy’s genitals in LEE-jiapore for unknown inexplicable causes needing doctor’s assistance to restore it to normality without surgery. This was a temporary phenomena in the 1950s of over a few week’s occurrence suspected to be heat triggered of sudden intense temperature change.

    @ Gan Loong Ching

INTERESTING POINT ON “legality” perspective at law. Like it or not, it is NOT EVEN VULGAR. Imagine this – a male boss told another colleague of his female subordinate – I F*CKED HER. It does NOT mean the boss “confessing” to another that he raped her but simply reprimand her for inadequate performance at work. F*CK YOU means I reject your propositions. F*CK OFF exclamation simply means go away or back off.

PAP is not a natural person or legal entity. And even if it is a legal entity, it is not exclusive of protected domain. Anyone can call his puppy or cat “PAP”. And it could be an acronym for PAP AND PAY or even PEE AND POO to describe his/her pet puppy or cat. Even if that PAP is registered trade-mark, anyone can disagree with a brand identification.

I could dislike Nestle because they sell sugary foods – unhealthy consumption for its customers. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EXPRESSING THAT DISLIKE PUBLICLY??

Wow lan a. This site always criticise 70% stupid but ownself also screw up ones. Here dont dare to print , over the courseway cannot print ? With the ease of internet, you can even print in further countries e.g. mainland.

Real question is who’s gonna foot the bill ( judging from the donation appeal results unlikely ) plus who dare to wear. 30% dont even dare to wear let alone 70%. I challenged gan loong ching to demonstrate himself in sg first.

Many, many years ago, I can still remember, those group of young men
painting Fuck PAP across the water tank on the top of a HDB block.
Forgot which estate and what blk no.

But it was a great display of dissatisfaction. A las, they
were arrested immediately, fined and imprisoned. If i remember
    correctly.

So Fuck PAP is back. But on the back of a Tshirt. Would action
be taken against the wearer? Anybody knows?

Better vote for change, vote for protecting your family against

    jobs of Singaporeans.

    Vote for change.
