Is everything really affordable?

I believe statistics about CPI, employment and everything else has been manipulated or rather fixed. I see more and more my neighbours, ex PMETs staying at home or driving Grab. How can unemployment be at 2%? Massive hikes of almost anything in 2018, inflation only at 1.7%? We are now more than five years the most expensive city in the world, a recent trip to Japan found almost everything also cheaper than Singapore.

I think most Singaporeans would like to believe in the old system where everything was genuine, these days everything seems to be fake. SP Services outsourcing their sales to reseller, they call it “Open Market” and you found all the resellers part of Temasek. And next Kopitiam reselling its outlets to NTUC to become a monopoly, the regulator said no problem, straight green light to go ahead.

I made one very unique observations and reflect the real situation of old folks in Singapore. Every morning, I would queue at mixed vegatarian food stall for mee hoon. I see a lot of old folks buying but I notice they usually buy mee hoon with 1 side dish, the price is about $2.20. I see this trend with many old folks, even at lunches, rice with one dish. It tells you something, they are buying within their means. As things becoming so freaking expensive, they reduce their appetite. The PAP keeps saying live with your means, I think this is what our old folks are doing right now. If everything is affordable, why are these old folks saving extremely over meals?

Remember, we just had 30-40% hike in water, electricity and gas. PAP had announced that GST is up next after next GE, with all sort of new taxes, we expect prices of basic necessities to go further north. Are we expecting old folks or poor and needy to buy white rice only then?

We are seeing more and more locals going unemployed or under-employed, our grads are now taking more than 12 months to land jobs or under-employed. This is a country where our leaders make millions, do not declare their actual bonuses and retire in luxury with jobs or positions appointed to continue to rake money, go jalan jalan every now and then. It is so strange that they continue to squeeze Singaporeans and asking Singaporeans to live within their means. In addition to importing more and more foreigners to boost the sagging economy (GDP) and steal lunches of locals.

Its a strange country but citizens don’t seem to see beyond the fear that the govt instilled in the system. Do you agree?

We are already buying one packet of Maggie mee (5 per packet) at $2 to last 2-1/2 days. Some have to way for promo jumping up & down to get 2 packets (10 pcs) at $3.90 just to save 10 cents. To them as long as you can buy something to eat, is affordable. Yes, it is affordable like this.

Therefore, their famous & dignified question is – Do you want your three meals in hawker centre, food court or restaurant? Many have not being able to afford hawker centre food, do they know?

They are not only out of touch instead very confuse what people are going through. A VERY CARING GOVERNMENT WE HAVE.

If you want to be free, you got to be brave. Look at the campaigners in the Umbrella protest in Hong Kong a few years back.

People go out onto the streets and fight for their rights. Even the women in India come out to protest without fear. But if you don’t then the PAP may think that there is not enough pain and can squeeze more money out of you. That is what is happening. People who are writing about the suffering of the people are not the ones that are going without food. The ones who are not eating proper meals regularly do not wish to complain–so give a wrong impression to the PAP. Greed has no limits–that is human nature.

The day of reckoning may not be far off. Those that stand around and watch the old people suffer, need to stand up and talk to their neighbours and friends about the plight of the people. It is necessary to make them aware of the situation. The old folks and graduate taxi drivers need to be made aware that they have the power to change things for the better. Their plight is not their fault–so don’t suffer in silence.

The PAP must be frantically scheming to rig the elections because there are so many secrets that need to be exposed. Secrets such as Ho Jinx’s total take-home pay. My own personal view is that when it is revealed, it will shock a lot of people including the rank and file members of the PAP.

The Clown PM should then be charged with abuse of authority as well. So they cannot afford to lose this election or any other elections. The elections in Singapore will change drastically soon. There may be more rules concerning which party can be “recognised” as a political party to be able to contest any election in Singapore. To be “recognised” as a political party they must endorse the point of not disrupting the Government.

Think hard and be brave or suffer forever.

Singapore has a grossly modified Democratic Constitution to the extent that it is NOT democracy BUT evil tyrannical nepotism. Singapore bureaucrats swear on Oath upon their own faith to be loyal to the Nation n her People but being beholden to the Party n its leader they have surrendered their integrity, dignity n loyalty to the Nation n her People to become credit – rewards members of the family of bootlickers, brownnosers or better known in singlish as polanpas carefully nurtured by the nepotic chief which could be what LHY/LWL representing two third of the First Nepotic Chief family revealed as compliancy n nepotic successor agenda of dynasty. Nepotism is essentially a dynasty cloaked in grossly modified democracy. So could LHY/LWL have insider insight of V2 nepotist’s exploding arrogance to finally uncloak himself as naked emperor of the dynasty unlike Nepotist Chief I still retaining his fading bits of sanity n sensibility of cloaking to seal in the last bits of capability to feel ashamed.

Breaking promises with the human community depends on how fast the community reacts, how much they can tolerate or how long they take to recover from their conscious/unconscious programmed indoctrination by the nepotist n the herd of polanpas. But breaking an oath sworn on the holy book is a matter of conscience n the divine world has its own way of punishment. Thru centuries, humans of all tongue and faith have been praying for retribution to happen upon those who broke the oath against God n His children. God has no eye is much repeated thru generation in all languages when these criminals against divinity r thriving well n getting worse by the seconds. The Chines who have gone more evil of numerous dynasties saw dynssty rise with goodness, decline wth growing greed n arrogance when the blamimg the divinity begins n suar until the total wipe out n a new dynasty begins its cycle. The west came up with the solution of checks n balances essentially related to the famous yin yang philosophy. The divinity bits was resolved by the Chinese believers with their self consolation that “it is not there is no divine punishment, it is a matter of time” n “God works in mysterious way”-
So when u break the oath, beware. The time may just come n u die without a burial place another famous chinese cliche.

  • Rabble-rouser:

Mark Twain once wrote, “THERE ARE THREE KINDS OF LIES: LIES, DAMNED LIES, AND STATISTICS.”
It’s a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments or to create media positivity overshadowing true negativity of real life.
Blind use of selected & carefully chosen Economic Statistics without taking into account other statistics measures is a devious way to portray positive media spin reporting to gloss over negative issues. This practice is like blind men feeling parts of an elephant & describing the elephant through feeling it. One blindman feeling it’s trunk could say that an elephant is a s*ake! Another blindman feeling it’s hind leg proclaimed that it’s a tree!
To give some examples of blindly accepting carefully chosen Statistics without including others giving it a true picture:
    GDP GROWTH RATE:
The most abused number in the “Lies, Damned Lies & Statistic” universe. A positive GDP growth number is thoroughly useless in absence of other measures. GDP Growth Rate is like measuring a watertap’s flow of water. It is simply capturing economic inputs & outputs over a period of time. One devious way to generate economic growth is to generate investment & Infrastructural Spending by huge amounts. In nominal GDP accounting, raising output prices (Inflation & rentals) is another way of boosting GDP growth rates. Hint: it will be reflected within the cost of living.
But when we looked at other statistics like Labour Productivity growth (very poor) alongside GDP growth rates (positive & growing) – the inconsistency provides a damned clue. Inputs were being poured into the economy but very little output efficiency was achieved. It’s like turning up the tap but wasting water in the process.
Another key Statistic alongside GDP Growth Rate is External Debt! If it is exceptionally high – it means that all the Economic Growth is fuelled by Debt (using foreign capital & investment). If foreign capital providers & investor turn off their taps, GDP Growth Rates will plummeted!
A 3rd factor which is not really a Statistic but rather a logical outcome of GDP Growth factor. A measure of Healthy Economic Growth Activity is Business Enterprise Formation & IPOs. If the numbers aren’t significant, it means the Domestic Economy doesn’t tally with GDP Growth numbers. Something isn’t consistent!
I leave the readers to form their own conclusions!
    CPI CALCULATIONS/BASE YEAR/EXCLUSIONS
CPI continually underscores the true Inflation rate by a mile. If not, why France’s proposed fuel tax triggered the Yellow Vest movement?

    Very misguided article:

    1) Employment & wages: Almost every graduate can find full time employment within 6 months of graduation. Typical starting salary is $3500 per month. Increments typical 5%. Bonus average 2-3 months. I know many more people earning between $10k and $20k per month, than those who earn below $10k. Most developed countries are envious of our economic growth and employment market.

    2) Cost of living: Many surveys geared toward expat lifestyle but Singapore is actually very affordable. Don’t need buy car as we have excellent transport system. Even property prices have become very good value these days. Utilities are much more expensive in other developed countries. Food is very cheap in Singapore, as long as you don’t go high end restaurant. We can still get $2 chicken rice

    CPI CALCULATIONS/BASE YEAR/EXCLUSIONS
CPI is calculated using a basket of goods & services to calculate the consumer price index. But the basket might not be relevant in real life context. For example, the CPI basket might be appealing to a Hindu Ascetic (Holy man who renounce worldly possessions) but can’t satisfy a Conspicuous Consumer used to the finer things in life.
Base year used can shift which also distort the Index of the CPI.
Omissions can also distort CPI. For example, tuition & supplementary education costs which are essentials in a household but are omitted.
But the most important factor is CPI’s integrity. Any man on the street would consider CPI as grossly understated when he considers his daily Kopi-O he has to pay.
    GDP WEALTH PER CAPITA
The most overstated number in the “Lies, Damned Lies & Statistic” universe. Even Hollywood had given that Statistic Credibility when they produced “CRAZY RICH ASIANS” to the rest of the world giving the impression that our roads were paved using gold. Foreign workers were made to believe that the walls at Tekka could produce money merely by touching it (ATM).
But GDP Wealth per capita doesn’t quite rhyme with the Median wage number of the workforce. Long & short, the GDP Wealth per capita is either trapped at the top or siphoned away by foreign capital providers & investors (Remember the External Debt number).
And the “Open Market” mechanism mentioned in the article isn’t open market if there is no price transparency nor any price discovery. What it is in the absence of Price action is simply LAYERING or padding the supply chains with layers of profit-takers with no value added. Remember that S’pore online website that layered over TaoBao (AliBaba) online transactions – absolutely no value adding in the process.
There you have it! – Lies, Damned Lies & Statistics.

  • Regime change is the answer:

Straits Times: Singapore must continue to transform economy, says Heng Swee Keat, as he calls for Budget suggestions

    Two points:
    (1) It is more important and imperative to transform the political system by voting for regime change. This would lead to openness and transparency in the public sector and therefore real accountability.

    (2) Why is HSK being paid millions annually if he still has to ask for Budget suggestions? It is clear he (like GCT and LHL) does not know what to do. VTO.

A mate of mine migrated & retired in Australia. He sold off his 5-room HDB flat & bought a land-&-house in Australia at the same equivalent amounts. He sold off his 5-year old car in S’pore around SG$70k & bought 2 brand new cars in Australia for about AU$50k (for both). Both Australian purchases have no time limit ie. 99 year leasehold for HDB, 10 year COE. He can own them as long as he lives & pass them onto his children. Can you do the same here?
A relative’s son received a US Green Card. He’s 28 years old & earning over US$100k/yr there. Not interested to return when asked. A friend’s son return from overseas after graduating. Hard time getting a good job here inspite of degree. Inbetween gig work & driving for Grab, he regretted not applying for an overseas job after graduation. Now the doors are closed for him.

Some ramen outlets even give free 2nd helping of Ramen noodles if you’re still hungry.
    * Shopping in Japan can be a real bargain when the season shift. Clothing stores like UNIQLO, GU marked down season ending clothing to clear stock & open space for incoming season clothing.
    * Public amenities are 1st class; some Public toilets even have seat w/water spray to clean your bottom after doing your business.
    * Convenience stores are everywhere, you can get almost everything late at night after the shops closed.
    * Supermarkets marked down certain foods an hour before closing – you can get huge discounts on ready-to-eat meals, snacks, breads & pastry, etc.
    * Old people don’t have to collect newspapers & cardboards for exercise like in S’pore. They retire with dignity & respect being able to live the remainder of their lives comfortable & within means.
People’s eyes wide open after visiting overseas countries. They don’t need propaganda & fictitious statements to hide the truth.

Words of wisdom to educate you all :
Language was invented centuries ago by very ancient people. It’s not precise because it’s an art. You can write it or speak it precisely clear but its meaning is never precise because its an ART.

Art is by imagination. It’s ambiguous. It’s possible to have multiple meanings for any sentence.

Words can be spoken metaphorically, in-tongue, creatively , figuratively, reverse-psychologically, ironically etc.

The word “Affordable” spends on interpretation. Each person interpretes words differently. A rich man can say $10million is affordable.

A person can interprete a Bible differently than another. A priest can interpreted the Bible differently than another. The original author is long dead unable to correct who has correctly interpreted or if all interpreted wrongly.

This is why religions have been used by politicians to control majority humans in the world.

Whatever you perceive becomes your reality. The truth notwithstanding.

I hope you enjoy this free enlightenment.
