How PAP can make Singaporeans happier

But won’t.

Because it’ll go against one of LKY’s Hardest Truths: S’pore should not have supportive social systems and institutions thereby making it easier for people who don’t or won’t work hard (But do you want cybernuts living off yr money and dissing you and the govt for not giving them more money?) to fall through the cracks.

But seriously Hard Truths seem to have forgotten about those who can’t work hard because they are too sick, too old or have to care for others.

So we only 34th globally. But PAP govt will point out we are top dog in the neighbourhood. Bit like having a bungalow house surrounded by slums.

The UN’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network ranking of the happiest countries in the world

suggest that happy societies are those with supportive social systems and institutions that make it harder for people to fall through the cracks.

Why is Finland so happy? | March 2018

In March 2018 Finland was named the happiest country in the world by the UN’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Three Nordic cousins—Norway, Denmark and Iceland—took the next places. The UN report uses global polling data from Gallup to measure how pleased people feel with their lives, and tries to explain the differences in results using variables such as GDP per person, social support, healthy-life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and freedom from corruption. Its results suggest that happy societies are those with supportive social systems and institutions that make it harder for people to fall through the cracks.

  • Let me count the ways...:

“How PAP can make Singaporeans happier”.

    1) return our CPF with all the interests due.
    2) by the whole PAP regiment stepping down.
..but not before they stand in a row, and bow & apologise to all sgs on tv, for all their ‘misdeeds’ and ‘misteps’.
    3)Then vamoose from our sights.

Here’s the hardest truth: LKY is dead. Now we move on without him. And soon, we shall move on without the PAP.

It is not govt responsibility to make people happy, but to adopt the right policies for the country, which our govt has done very well. It is up to each individual to be happy, don’t blame govt for your troubles. And to have more social welfare mean everyone must pay more tax, so no thanks

  • opposition dude:

The only way PAP will make life easier for us is when they are forced into a coalition government facing gridlock for when they want to raise S&CC charges, transport fares and so on.

Only when PAP aren’t calling the shots and doing whatever they want whenever they want is when life will get easier for Singaporeans, no 2 ways about it.

Otherwise it’s business as usual and PAP will only continue making life harder for us because it’s what they do best.

What if the so-called “right policies” are wrong and making the people unhappy? How you tell? Cannot protest like France, HK, Korea or Taiwan. Vote? By 70% who’re too stupid to know they’re stupid, like you???

In his first para, this CI already help his master with reasons on their actions. A typical bigtime PLP. This is a reversed psychology piece, good try CI.

We are not asking for social system, please dont put words into our mouths. We are seeking a fairer system from our very own government not to suck us dry, dont treat us worse than FTs, return our rights, dont make empty promises, dont bend the rules for their advantage, be transparent & accountable to us & dont TKSS. Get your facts right.

Your piece backfired good time, CI.

  • pap S$m liars:

did not read the above post.

never read anything by any pap PA paid IB.

but never let byte space go to waste either.

so we pen our thoughts here.

was rewatching Kdrama about corrupt judges, corrupt politicians, evil rich.

because there is NO contempt of court law in Korea, the lying folks, those corrupt judges, corrupt politicians, and evil rich, are put in jail finally.

we realize CONTEMPT of court law is put in place by the corrupt to protect themselves from ever being put in jail.

we also realize the only way for TRUE justice to run is for New Government to be in power. expecting old corrupt regime to correct itself is to expect he rich to hate S$m which ain’t going to happen.

  • Rabble-rouser:

What does a deceased politician-cum-(non-practicing) lawyer knows about Economics & Economic Theory? Beside suing you till your pants dropped & applying sedition laws & harsh legal measures to silence dissidence & opposition?
Even the brilliant S’pore Economic ideology was handed over by Dr Albert Winsemius who fell in love with our country & “it’s hard working people”. It has the hallmarks of Winsemius’ intellect because the Inward Manufacturing Investments (Phillips BV, Shell) created jobs in a Post-War era; Banking (@ Amsterdam, eg. Rabo, AMRO), Airport (Schiphol in Amsterdam); Port & Oil Refinery (@ Rotterdam), Educational Excellence & Industrial Research (@ Eindhoven), Affordable Dutch Public housing scheme were all replicated within his economic formula.
But Winsemius’ formula worked for the 1st stage of Economic Development re: plucking the low-lying & easily harvested economic fruits.
But the 2nd stage economic process can only be achieved using the wealth achieved under the 1st phase:
    * Development of human capital especially R&D capabilities, Entrepreneurship & enterprise building;
    * Social safety nets to create an innovative & creative society willing to try & try again despite setbacks; &
    * Encouraged less productive portions of the population through wealth transfers (social welfare payments, generous pensions) to encourage a vibrant consumption economy which has broad trickle down benefits.
Of course, the inadvertent side-effect is that govts become smaller/less influential as people become more empowered & dictate to govt’s instead of the other way around. But people who have a huge ego but relatively undersized in particular areas sought to overcompensate by building political dynasties or create empires. To grow stronger means their people must grow weaker. In a crocodile eco-system, the Boss croc gets the pick of food from lesser crocs so that it gets bigger & stronger above all. But the stress of competition (upstarts, chipping away), external factors affecting their eco-system eg lack of prey, drying conditions, preyed on by lions, hyenas – all weakened the boss croc. Surprisingly, economic laws reflect nature’s laws of evolution.
In a nutshell, govts are like crocs who are themselves trapped inside their own political ideology sphere. As long as they can feast on the weak within their eco-system, they remained strong & dominant. But eco-system change (prey population declined) & time (everyone grows old, upstarts grow bold) reduces dominance – what then?

  • You Must Be Kidding!:

Poor Singaporeans have been snubbed, ignored, belittled, sneered at, insulted, embarrassed, treated unfairly, bullied, cornered and many more.

We can’t wait to vote and send a loud and clear signature that we demand Change in Singapore.

We want good leaders and not merely followers to lead Singapore.

We will make ourselves real happy after the next GE, so no need to attempt to make us happy for a shor while, we want to be happy for the next 5 years and more afer the GE!

Life in our country has become so complex and complicated.
Decades ago we didnt have much but were happy.
Now we have almost all , or most material stuff to make our lives easier plus more, but most ppl here are depressed and unhappy.
    So sad.
    Who’s to blame..our gov’s misplaced priorities?
