Accountability is very much lacking under the PAP

9 deaths in 16 months is just unacceptable. Not in peace time that is. It equates to almost 2 death in every 2 months. Accident can happen surely but when it involves fatality, then it’s 1 death too many.

In any country where accountability is high, we usually see the top hierarchy taking responsibility over any major mishap. Resignation of the top man.

In Singapore we have not seen anything like that. No one takes responsibility except people at the bottom of the pyramid.

In 2010, during the Mas Selamat escape, PM Lee said in parliament that, “we should not encourage a culture where officials and Ministers resign whenever something goes wrong on their watch, regardless of whether or not they are actually to blame.

The above statement only goes to show what type of accountability we have embraced.

If personal indiscretion has led to the resignation of MPs, like Michael Palmer and David Ong and more recently SBS Transit CEO Gan Juay Kiat, why wouldnt 9 deaths of our national servicemen prompt such actions?

Until we demand accountability and transparency from our leaders, things will be status quo. Ministers have iron rice bowl and with that, zero accountability.

In this rogue regime thinking, they will never do no wrong. Even if they are found wrong, no need to resign cause the clown said so.

BUT, anyone outside their ‘protection’ has to account and take responsibility if you are found doing something wrong, in the name of public interests.

A damn one-sided system they are adopting. Giving ‘pliant’ a triple meaningful word.

You want accountability then you have to show it to PAP in this year’s election. Make them lose more GRCs and you will see that both Gan and Ng will be demoted to MPs before calling it a day just like Wong and Mah before them.

As long as there are too many monkeys in parliament things will never change. Once they see their numbers trimmed down significantly is when they will realise the game is up. Otherwise it will always be business as usual to them.

After all, if you have the supermajority in parliament what have you got to fear right?

Pinky should have been the first person to turn up at Aloysius Pang wake if he really shows concern for the ordinary soldier as he was a BG before. It seems the life of a soldier is not important as he was just a digit.

Further more he could have won more votes in the coming election if he had showed some sincerity. Probably he is not worried as he has so many new citizens to vote for the PAP.

Wake up Singaporeans this is our leader.

Whoa, very stupid comparison by the writer. Those MP who resigned because of personal indiscretion, it is because their actions caused embarassment to themselves and to PAP. But in the case of NS fatality, nobody cause it, it is accident. So why should anyone resign because of it? Also, the moment we enrol in NS, we are prepared to lose our lives for the nation. Nobody owes anyone anything.

Classic PAP logic and sense. Or ability to think sense.

Is it any wonder they use oppressive rule to forced it down onto us to let them get away paying themselves millions? They know they can’t make that kind of money in the competitive private sector for no private boss will pay them that or even employ them.

Imagine them being a CEO of a private company and some subordinate under him caused a serious mishap (PC Ong’s only an accident) through negligence or incompetence and caused his company to be liable to losses of millions or billions in compensations or other liabilities and the shareholders (the PAP government) says only that at most only subordinate staff should be punished or resign. His superiors, including the CEO (and supposedly better paid to oversee things and to get things right) are blameless and need not be made accountable. It was after all an accident.

Never mind that accidents don’t happen if adequate safety measures or precautions are taken or are put in place.

Nobody had enough knowledge or skill or competence to see that a preventable accident of that nature does not happen.

Or that the buck should stop at the person who has the overall responsibility to see that everything under his/her watch functions correctly.

Like I mentioned previously in another post, one death outside the battlefield is one death too many. More so when it is preventable. Even more so if reasonable safety precautions have been taken. Of course, the scholar Generals aren’t able to grasp that for no one taught them that in the textbooks.

In almost every country, the higher ups (have to) take responsibility for mishaps. For after all, it happened under his/her watch.

Not in PAP Singapore. The PAP is never wrong and never made to be held responsible or accountable. Everything will be swept under the carpet and the msm they control will cover it up. With time, and no more mention by the controlled media, all will soon be forgotten.

And they (can) continue to pay themselves the highest salaries in the world, including bonuses despite fumbles and accidents or outright failures.

Now you understand why they have persistently refused to reveal how much they pay themselves in salaries and bonuses for losing hundreds of billions managing our sovereign funds?

    Agree with you bro!
There is a sick culture staying too long at the top level.
Our live as man in Singapore continue to be cheap.

Our total serviceable life in NS for a Male, including reservist, is approx. 3yrs.

The breakdown on proportion of total cost of servicing a male liable for NS vs Reservist could be somewhere between 20:80 or 30:70.

This is simply economic no. to spread the butter thin and thus pay the NSF cheap.

Pay the NSF full salary and benefit. Significantly reduce or remove the need for reservist.

With current regime, the failures will recur again and again.
The Wayang and cheap pacification will continue.

Shitty times will continue with their usual role of brainwashing, creating doubts out of the obvious, hiding truths to propagate falsehoods and shape perceptions.

The minstars had come out to make great promises in the past, now they don’t even bother because they themselves know that the system is failing and they are the causes of these failures. They have no clue how to resolve these problems.
The fundamental problem is their mindset and governing ethos. They surround themselves with sycophants to hear the good things. They prop themselves up with all the pep talk, like a multi layer marketing.

Has the needless deaths stopped? Has MRT breakdowns stopped?
    Has hospital incidents stopped?

A broken system cannot fix itself.

    Accident is due to negligence.

9 accidents in 16 months is a systemic negligence.

  • Do as I say not as I do:

PAP has a clear mission statement “do as we tell you n not as we do”. So they demand truth from all other but persecute when other do what they do. So with WP, defamation suites, accountability, fakes n half truths.
ST reported about Malaysia paid $15millions Half truth M$ or S$. How much Singapore has paid for the compensation of the delay another half truth. Pwhy Khaw is silence on what Singapore has to pay for the delay. Another the billions spent by Singapore thus far. How much has Malaysia forked out for the same period.
Many foreign media have talked abt how rich Singapore is n presumably everyone after Kim fiasco decision self gratification n glorification payout of $28m for a two days meeting. How abt breakdown for such a unbelievable sum spent. As musical chair expert rider khaw said in Parliament can a substantial part was thrown in the wastes. Now many nations r interest at PPaP expertise at negative investment n obsession to pay any amt for self glorification definitely not for the nation. On the contrary, bomkan or daft or stupid not citizenry but the great pap talented ministers. But 70% of citizenry are bomkan, daft, or stupid to vote in a hungry, greedy n aggressive party as indirectly confessed by the greatest daft n bomkan on the island.
