Retrenched PMETs on the rise while observers say government not doing enough

According to a labour market report released by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Thursday, PMETs accounted for a staggering 79.3% of retrenched residents in 4Q18. Overall, 2510 people were retrenched in the 4th Quarter.

This marks a substantial year-on-year increase of about 30% from the 2017 statistic and is also the highest level since such data was first published by MOM in 2006.

For those who were retrenched, 58% had degrees while 20% held diplomas. A substantial portion of individuals who were retrenched were those aged between 40 and 49 (34%) and over 50 (33.6%).

Reflecting a not-too-optimistic market sentiment, there was a slight increase in employment rate to 3.0% from the previous quarter. Overall employment grew at a moderated pace of 14,700 persons (excluding foreign domestic workers) in the quarter.

According to people interviewed by the Straits Times, PMETs are becoming vulnerable more steps need to be taken to reduce the risk of them being displaced.

An DBS analyst suggested that firms should raise the minimum qualifying salary for Employment Pass holders and increasing the length of time firms must advertise jobs on the national jobs portal before they can apply to hire a foreign professional.

casinos create jobs for 70% sheep? not true. just a clown pap lie.

aliens FTs PRs create jobs for 70% sheep? not true too. another clown pap lie.

clown pap controls mediacorpse and the states times. when convenient, data says Sporean. when inconvenient, data says resident.

actually it has been progress for clown pap S$m clan members all along, since employment or unemployment, as long as 70% sheep remains sheep, clown pap S$m clan members all S$m whether market is good or market is bad.

when we hear or read of more 70% sheep jobless in own land birth, while clown pap continues to say tight job market, we clap clap clap. since we are old and jobless with only HDB rental, and since GE2015 stabbed in the back by 70% sheep, we say the more 70% sheep jobless in own land of birth, the better.

In Singapore, we have 7 out of 10 working adults are degree holders and the rest with other qualification. Unfortunately these people still cannot understand why so many of them were retrenched with jobs taken away by foreigners.

I am a retiree, I don’t hold a job anymore, I just like to see how smart are these graduates. I like to see if they know about HDB 99-years lease, PAP tariff hikes for everything. I know some of them still staying with parents and the parents paid for PUB, Telco, property tax, HDB loan, S & C charges, etc. they have no idea of all the fees that were increased.

If these graduates still vote for the PAP, there will be more taxes and GST increases 2%. If they don’t know about these, Singaporeans and Singapore will be gone.

    I pray.

    PAP wants 10M in Singapore, 7M by 2030 and 10M by 2050.

BUT ISSUE IS THERE ISNT 10M JOBS!

SO EVERY FT THEY IMPORT, ONE LOCAL WILL LOSE JOB.

If PAP keeps saying GDP growing, why more retrenchment? Because their jobs are taken by cheap third world FT PMETs they imported.

PAP is reclaming more lands, building more HDBs for who? To build for FTs who they are going to convert to PRs and new citizens.

One must understand the worst economic cycle strategies the PAP has come up with, for 2 decades.

GICs cannibalised local businesses. Than allow and support foreign entities to do the same on Sinkiland.

GICs started using FTs in truck loads, which hideously allow the foreign entities to follow suit blatantly with checks and balance till its out of hands (I would think its basically gearing at a higher objective to dilute favourable votes from new citizenships from these tidal influx of FTs). These strategies cut both ways, which now Employments / Business cannot sustain the huge amount of ppl needed income to survive due to the high living cost in Sinkiland that the PAP has created !

Local Companies are shutting down or moving out in doves, which is the backbone of our economy. Bricks and Mortar economy can only be steroid that far without reasonable $$ to sustain the market (which all the while everyone knows this will not work under long term strategy). New policies are just cosmetic foundation masking real flaws within the skin of our local Businesses facing from the bad policies which refuse to U-Turn or undone to revive the local Businesses (ie; boost local employment).

In the end, locals are facing the the sharp end of the sword and still have to pay high Tax $$ for the PAP Husband and Wife Teams Millions annually !! Basically, they treat us a slaves to feed their entire families LOGS, STOCKS AND BARRELS with the citizens BLOOD MONIES.

My company over the last year has completed phasing out of $G locals except for two old admin people like me and one driver.

Everyone else is either from India or China. The India group is the biggest growth last year since the new manager is from India. Chennai Business Park is now expanding to CBD.

The real unemployed group are $G locals. FT are desperate and can take any salary – how to compete? Locals have no support. Jobs Bank is a sham and a scam.

If nothing is done this coming GE, we will definitely be phased out before the next 5 years. I have very little hope of a significant oppo in parliament seeing how the 70% still keep loyalty to pappies – no matter what.

Regime change is the solution. After achieving it, cancellation of Employment Pass can promptly begin to get rid of “cheap” (no CPF) foreign workers. This would create jobs for Singaporeans and also raise the salaries of those who have jobs.

Ask yourself why vote for PAP then?

In the era of globalization, there is no way citizens could fend against cheap foreign influx without government intervention.
These aliens are leapfrogging different stages of developmental growth of different countries, at the expense of locals. This is just plain economics. Every western advanced nation knows this and put control in placed to get the right balance.

If PAP cannot get the well-being of it’s citizens right, then they should be voted out.

PMETs are kind of useless, kiasu, kiasi people. In the past, they supported PAP’s ideal of bringing in FTs to replace timid Singaporean workers. Criticize them as lazy, Geng King, defiance then find ways to sack them. The time came when they themselves were also being replaced and they ended up as taxi drivers for older batch of PMETs. The newer batch turned to private car driver and some taxi drivers. Some work as housing agent, some work as insurance agent because they can not find any company who could hire them anymore. Good luck to them.

  • What Govt not doing enough:

PAP govt has done already too much with their self checked n balanced pro alien policy. Singaporeans must have forgotten the $10 chaitowkwei berrachan chun (stupid) sin threatened thinking so critical Singaporeans, severely indoctrinated to non thinking Singaporean sheeps (presumably 70% multiple beaten n no shy) n new citizens once branded as hungry, greedy n aggressive as all the foreigners from whom Singaporeans r to steal from if they need jobs but they have to be hungrier, greedier n more aggressive than them as the honored friend of union told his union friends, oh yea the berra chan threatened that it has no problem to import more foreigners to replace Singaporeans from their jobs (so that they can STEAL them back from the foreigners it imported when the jobless sinkies have heeded the words of its big lampa to be hungrier, greedier n more aggressive) Not only jobs but also admission to “good schools” n consistently shameless boasting of world listing universitues n institutes. while at the same worship n kowtow to foreign bullshiting academics while the genuine great foreign academics look on puzzlingly. So do u want the berakchan to repeat his threat that HE HAS NO PROBLEM TO IMPORT MORE FOREIGNERS TO REPLACE SINGAPOREANS FROM THEIR JOBS
OR THEIR CHILDREN FROM GOOD SCHOOLS N UNIVERSITY BY OFFERING LUXURIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS in the same spirits they spent $28millions to host what they thought will be the historic meeting that would have them remembered but ironically not only they have thrown the $28 millions into the shitpot but now facing the need to answer the Violation of UN sanction on North Korea with their millions hosting. Really as the chinese cliche goes not only sacrificed their women but also the soldiers! Anxious expectation of self glorification of hosting historic meeting ironically becoming an international stannding joke n worse showing to Singaporeans, they great political talents r desperately trying to defend the allegation of violating UN sanction on North Korea which of course not exactly true with the $28 millions spent but Singaporeans hoped PAP would be willing to be accountable with full exposure how $28 millions were spent for the one day gabbling in the same spirit as they responded to UN!
So please for God sake do not ask them to do more in their pro alien mentality n policy else we may not be proud Singaporeans any more!

some people who make it good throughout in their lives may think that their success is strictly due to their own hard work and intelligence – not knowing that life is not that simple and sometimes luck & different policies (rules) may give a different outcome & result.

ask the white idiots, they know it better as they know how to pave (wayang policies and rules) their own success.

sad to say, the vice principal may be right “no one owes you a living’. learn from the white idiots, know how to wayang and be hungry – they are setting many wrong examples & double standards on how to be successful and come out champions ? remember, 4 = 5 and selected = elected.

I keep telling everyone around me since 2001 that you better clear your mortgage before 45. Some laughed & either said it’s impossible, or what for? Got good job what?! Well, some of them lived to regret when they kena retrenched in their 40s or early 50s.

PAP policies have forced us ordinary sinkies to be very thrifty — save 40% or 50% of our salaries if possible, and to buy smaller homes than we can actually afford — so that we can pay off mortgage by 45. Otherwise kena retrenched can only jump HDB, jump condo, jump MRT, or jump Kallang River. And use insurance money to pay off so that your family don’t lose their home.

ALL of my ex-colleagues who kena retrenched all CANNOT get another job with same or better pay. ALL suck cock & have to accept much lower salaries.

Unless Sinkies are brave enough to vote Oppo, the above will be the reality for more & more Sinkies.

  • Is this true redistribution?:

The government is already employing a lot of PMET grads into civil service like teachers and customs etc. They are not only employed in a few but in truckloads pegging their last drawn pay. But alas, they realised this cannot sustain for long as it costs them mountains of cash. So they started some indirect ideas of streamlining their civil service payroll like school mergers, closure of certain civil departments etc. Now they cannot keep on absorbing the retrenched as it is bottomless pit and has a spiral effect of endless fire fighting.
With the remaining re-employed PMET grads in civil service still swelling, they had to come up with some soft approach to make the excess leave, that is performance ranking. If you get three consecutive years of D grade, you will be dismissed automatically. Isn’t this a brilliant survival of fittest rule where everyone back stabs each other silly to stay afloat. Let me remind you that these 2nd career civil servants are veteran foxy office politicians who can easily outsmart those who join service first after graduation. What a world to bring these trash to corrupt the once decent CS thanks to the chronic retrenchment situations since 2001 when the dot-com bubble bursts.

civil service heavy or linked-here-linked-there heavy (& highly paid) ? can it be sustainable when the revenue stream from private sector is under pressure & cannot cope with (or more & more expensive to cope) with a heavy public and civil service & linked-here-there sector (remember the axiom is to pay those talented ones highly to serve) ?

the question is are they really talented in their respective domains to add value or to rent seek value from others and to make the country very expensive to live and cope with ?

  • Retrenchment is Good:

Retrenchment is an education for the timid that their cowardice led to today’s problems.

Retrenchment teach them why People Power is necessary. That People Power cannot be outsourced to the garment.

No one can give you transparency, accountability except the people collective.

Retrenchment tells the people you deserve it.
Sweeping problems under the carpet and living in denial never solves the problems.

Only the people can effect People Power.
Waiting for someone to give you permission to have people power is wishful thinking and naive. Fear is a useless excuse.
