Judge Says Bullying Is A Frequent Occurrence

I refer to this article on TNP.

First off, let me say that I do not condone of this parent’s action. And being a teacher, he should have known better than to do something like this.

However, let’s imagine if something like this, were to happen to us. Imagine you have a child who is constantly bullied at school. Imagine him being always unhappy. Imagine when you approach the school, when you bring up your concerns, all they tell you is the bully has anger management issues like it’s a good excuse, and do nothing to help the situation. Now imagine yourself being the parent who has to tell your child this: “Sorry son, there’s nothing I can do. Now suck it up!”

Let me be perfectly clear about this. Bullying has led to suicides before. Exactly how many victims do we need before we bloody wake up our ideas?

Who is the real culprit in this incident? The man took the law into his own hands to defend his son? The 10-year old bully? Or the school that just doesn’t give a single f*ck?

In any case, to me personally, the most shocking and bone-chilling part of this news, was that the District Judge literally said out loud the words, “bullying was a frequent occurrence”.

Oh I see. Bullying is a frequent occurrence. May I ask what is he trying to imply? That this is perfectly normal? Accept it?

To hear the words “bullying is a frequent occurrence” come out from a judge, it’s almost as if it doesn’t sound like a problem at all. And that idea is what scares me most of all.

Bullying is a frequent occurrence. Hello? If you can actually say this out loud, don’t you think we need to address it? Bullying is a frequent occurrence. Which part of this sentence did not sound like an actual problem to you?

In a more responsible, and a more accountable society, the unnamed school’s disciplinary staff would have been asked to resign, long before such an incident could even happen!

This is not the most shocking report I have read about though. There was this case about a chef who attacked in self-defense, jailed 2 months. [ LINK ]

Judge was talking about how the pappies bully the citizens daily.
    He was correct.

What is more citizens not only have learned to accept it, but return the bullies to power each and every time.

Under these circumstances, why would a bully stop?

Well, if you quote the past tense “was”, don’t twist to the present tense. It only dilute your standing and purpose.

Then it is up to you to train your child to be stronger and maybe be the bully then be bullied.

Can you handle it or not?

I agree with the judge. Sad but true. “Bullying is a frequent occurrence” is real.

Look at how the G bullies the citizens. Fixing and suing the ordinary s’poreans as and when they deem fit. Bullying the people is happening so frequently.

Or look at how the d!shonourable brother bullied his own siblings, nephew and sis-in-law.

Also, the MIB and Uni bullying victims of voyeurs expecting them to just accept their decisions.

Aye-hey, who knows, maybe, just maybe the judges themselves are also being bullied by some people at the top?

As with most things, it starts from the top. So, try changing the G in the next GE. Perhaps we’ll see a stop to all bullying.

  • Big Bully:

Look at this portion of POFMA applying to “a person” in Singapore or Oversea…. you can read it in TOC.

(vi) diminish public confidence in the performance of any duty or function of, or in the excercise of any power by, the Government, an Organ of State, a statutory board, or a part of the Government, an Organ of State or a statuory board.

    Isn’t that a wide ranging big bully….

    Let’s look it in another angle;

1.0 If that person is President Xi or President Trump making a statement that actually undermines public confidence of the Government, what can they do about it? Bully gets Bullied back?

2.0 How! do you proof that the public confidence had been “abated” and that the Government is lesser than able to execute its “functions”???….. How do you proof it? when the public knows jolly well that the POFMA can be use to bully and punish that “person” in return, that the “functions” and “power” are “never” diluted. But here is the big bully when it comes to Sinkies…. because they Own self say will Own self Song to put you away isn’t it.? Do you have the money to fight them in court? while they use Ah Gong money to fight you!

    Well the good news is;;

You can always bully them back with the piece of Vote in your hand NOW before its too late, isn’t it?

Don’t be like “Angry Citizen” and do nothing. Your kids will suffer.. look at the HDB price sky rocketed. Made to pay for the price of the land, and as it recycle in 99 yrs later, pay the price of the land again by another Ah Tur, and another Ah Tur… [HDB price pro-rated is more expensive than Free-Hold land].. Big Big Bully.

Please use your ticket wisely this time around…. please….

I corrected his tense. Because last time I checked, bullying being a frequent occurrence did not become a thing of the past at the time of the judge’s quote, nor at the time of my letter.

If you think a grammar change will dilute my standing and purpose, my answer is that an idiot like you would not have understood regardless.

After being retrenched and jobless for few years, i had an opportunity to work short-term, about 6months, in various school environment (from primary to secondary and JC).

From my observations, most schools’ internal politics were very toxic. Some where very regimental. And some were discriminatory, and function like a private club.

I am most impressed with the culture of Duman High school which i considered very supportive and respectful from HOD to teachers to security and students… While ACS is one of those most snobbish.

how leh ? bullies are already ‘stronger’ & ‘unreasonable’ earning their names as bullies (daring to use bullying acts that other reasonable kids will not use as it could be deemed ‘wrong’) lar or have the natural flair and guts for bullying (not fearful of their victims AT ALL) ?

the only stronger is to do something ‘drastic’ (so that the message can get across to the bully) than what the bully does in the first place but that may become another offence in our civilized sinkie land where words can be twisted like 4 = 5 and selected = elected and offender can look like victim and victim seeking grievance can look like trouble maker leh ?

  • One more bummer for the judge:

One day I came home from school and said to my dad: “I got expelled from school today!” He said ‘How’s that?’ I said: “I threw my book at the teacher.” “Why?” he was puzzled. I told him that we were doing an anti-bullying program and my teacher lectured me that words can’t hurt me so I threw my dictionary at her…”

  • Don't get personal:

I once worked for a school principal who can’t separate personal matters from professional ones. I should have sensed something amiss about her when she told me on my second day at work that she had her womb removed. Why tell me I hardly know her!!??

She would make personal attacks like:”My son is younger than you and sadly he’s more mature.” She should talk because she behaves like a 16 year old schoolgirl. Once we were in her car together with the crater face VP and the s*ake VP mentee attached to her. Once of them remarked that I was the “thorn among the roses.” And the three old hags giggled loudly like teen schoolgirls. I didn’t want to say they resembled withered. droopy flowers.

Most women wore blusher to highlight their cheekbones. This principal wore blusher ALL OVER HER FACE. So she resembled a flushing Easter egg.

She will also bring in God and Jesus during meetings to coerce young people into submission. She would also make fun of people doing lowly/menial/dirty jobs. After that, she would scold people for lack of humility. She don’t see the irony and the contradiction!!?? Very childish and immature for an old woman. That’s why I thought her a hypocrite, snob and a unprofessional.

In this regard I’m happy to say all other bosses I worked for separated personal matters from professional ones very clearly. If they weren’t happy about performance, they did not make personal attacks. Instead, they would explain how they want it done.

    There’s more:

Once the school principal threatened me by saying:”If you are not happy here, you will find that you won’t be happy anywhere else.”

The crater face VP had me sign my performance appraisal with out letting me read the contents – despite my objections. Very unethical.

The two broke the rules when it suited them and at my expense. I was not allowed to take leave during term time and school holidays while the two witches will go off for their long break. However, I persisted and got my leave.

The p, VP and some senior teachers and some other non teaching staff were like a bunch of housewives. Gossipy, spiteful, petty, foul tempered, immature, making uncalled for insults. These also included some enrichment class teachers (Brandt essence of chicken shit) and parent volunteers. I shall never forget this ignorant arrogant parent volunteer called Veronica. She’s a real bootlicker and trouble maker. Without a life of her own and spends all her time in the school being a busybody. She remarked:”Oh you studied (business) marketing? You studied going to buy groceries at the market?” Super stupid housewives.

The staff in the office were real clock watchers. They would look at the clock as I come in for work, go for lunch, leave the school for the day etc. The best part is, they did for me to see. They want to make it obvious. So I will also come and go on the dot. Some of the HODs and even the regular bast**d repairman/dogsbody were real disrespectful. Sit in my chair, scatter their belongings on my desk. Then I understood why some junior teachers objected to people leaving things on their tables. The lady HOD will fling her handbag on my table and sit on it and cross her legs. The whole place is just so bloody unprofessional.

I will have to compliment some of the senior and junior teachers who conducted themselves with self respect and decorum. Who taught students to be respectful towards others.

So damn the principal and VP to everlasting fire where they will roast for all eternity.

    @ Don’t get personal

I feel bad for you having to experience such unprofessional culture at work place. Esp in an establishment from within singapore school.

Bullies are everywhere and perhaps my brief description on my short experiences was enough to trigger your hidden grievances. Yet, this experience of yours is all not wasted.

Birds of a feather flock together. Most of us will accept those bad behaviour and become part of them. It is the most easy way to respond to work place bully or any other type of bullying environment. At is how toxic culture forms. It is much more harder to stand up and say “this is not right, either you change it or i change it”

From school, it reflects all well into every aspect of social life. And we can see how injustice was done to a woman taking a shower in a school environment. The larger problem lies at how the organization and establishments were handling the case after it happened.

I hope you will grow into a strong and better person from those bad experience as they too teaches us something in life. There always be payback time.

    Best wishes

  • Don't get personal:

Thanks for your understanding. Yes, I’ve learnt to trust my instincts and just simply leave toxic people and environments where possible.

I’m completely amazed by what I can find in a “good Christian environment”. I recall the younger one of two lady pastors were quite mean. The two in house dental nurses were fond of playing tricks, like testing to see if you know something. And that was because my job scope was so wide and covers so many things. I suppose the Bible’s teachings about how to treat your fellow humans were lost on them.

Also, if I have a work disagreement with the Principal or VP, the office walls will be plastered with Biblical quotes. Like the ones about mockers. What they try to say is that I’m a mocker for disagreeing. Is this the kind of role models we want?

The school hired some pompous piece of human excrement CON-sultant. This old man conducted himself with self importance and grandiosity. What he did was to write a character analysis or in some cases, character assassination on every staff in the school. We had to endure his ordeal of a talk before he bestowed on the individuals their reports in a condescending manner. It was rather obvious that he read the personal files of staff and also spoke to the Principal and VP to be able to do this in a few days. I cannot believe the school wants to waste time and money on this type of people when they are doing a fund raising.

The whole atmosphere is very tense. People are like rubber bands, stretched very tight, ready to snap any moment. You can just feel it in the air.

Appreciate your kind words and best wishes.
