The Price Is Right Politicians

We are fortunate that we still have good people around who are willing to be part of alternative parties, and in some cases run for office. In whatever way we can we must give them support. Spreading the word and taking time to speak to others on doing the right thing at the ballot box is something we must do.

We must support citizens who are standing up for the welfare of fellow citizens.

Those who are putting themselves up against those who are clinging onto power and fighting to keep their status, and who will use draconian laws to tilt as much as possible in their favour.

Tell those who have doubts about those standing up to The Hollow Men that you usually do not hear from people in the opposite camp of the sacrifices they are making and using that as a badge of honour: everyone makes sacrifices in one way or another, this is nothing new.

Neither is there anything special about meritocrats except that they rig the system to gain ascendancy, and manipulate the media to tell their version of “truths”.

There is no need to spend sleepless nights thinking of the elites who fill the ruling class that moan about how they had to take a ‘pay cut’ to run for office; these are people who have their sense of ‘service’ guided only by what tells them: the price is right.

Spare a thought for those who wonder where their next meal is coming from, and for how long they will have a roof over their heads.

Do not bother about the meritocrats and Dishonourables who have a silver spoon stuck somewhere. They are not motivated by service but by pay, bonuses, and status: the price must be right.

Not only must they get their expected remuneration they decide what is true or false.

The philosopher Immanuel Kant makes clear in much of his moral thought that placing a “market price” (his actual words) to what should be an act of duty means you do not recognise the intrinsic worth or dignity of that role. To provide a calculus of market rates and bonuses is a prime example of what is not considered an act of morality or goodwill.

This is not to say that people should not be paid fairly, but the use of market rates as an incentive for roles that are supposed to involve doing what is in the best interests of all despite the cost to you detracts from any claims of doing what is right.

(Kant’s ideas on this can be found throughout his “Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals” and “The Metaphysics of Morals”.)

When the candidates of the rulers spout drivel about acting from a sense of duty—please don’t be taken in. They are reading from a prepared script. And they have done their calculations.

The snouts of the ruling class have been in the trough long enough, it is time to clear the sty.

It does not matter which alternative party you support, go with what resonates with you: and do the right thing by Singapore at the ballot box.

Agree, just look at CCS. Recently talked about Singapore not being able to escape from effects of China-US trade wars and ‘brace’ ourselves. Please! what we need is not a multi-million analyst, but for him to deliver concrete performance. The more speeches he blurts out, the worse he looks.

And after the POFMA was debated, many days have passed.
ET said overwhelming majority of Singaporeans want fake news law.
KKL said she did not prepare LKY’s will.
Of course, we have the famous question on how the minister can clear his own name if he is guilty of being unbecoming, yet he is also the arbiter.
These are all good examples for members of a certain party to put things right using the POFMA.
First, ask ET where his past data were on Singaporean wishes for fake news law. If he cannot produce, is he going to get away ?
Next, KKL has more than enough time and resources to clear her name after LWL’s announcements but she didn’t, therefore clearly guilty of propagating fake news. What next ? Tell the citizens that her fake news did not harm citizens therefore she can get away ?
Finally, we know that ministers aren’t clean from time to time, so
instead of getting that portion addressed, the law minister avoided the question totally.
All the members of a certain party only know how to vote with the whip while downplaying concerns, it tells you the kind of people they are. Also what a freak system we have.

Citizens of Singapore, how much more you want to give up? Your CPFs are locked up for don’t know when. PAP can take money from your bank account to top up your Medisave, which you can only use a small amount. Your HDB value became zero after 99 years. Your jobs are given to FTs. Foreigners are sponsored to study in SG’s Uni where our children need to go to overseas Uni. Your freedom of expression was also gone.

Do you want to lose this beloved country for your children? Do you want to give up your right to vote too? Voting wisely, as the Malaysians did!!

Dr. Lee W L alleged: “From 2010, LHL improperly misrepresented to our father LKY that gazetting of 38 Oxley Road was either “inevitable” or that the house was already gazetted. We now know that no decision had been made. Besides issues of improper representation and conflicts of interest on the part of LHL, this shows that LKY’s “consideration” of “alternatives” to demolition was entirely due to LHL’s representations about the house’s fate.”

This was the first “Fake News” made for this decade!! The reason for this was for the benefit of one person!

You see, in the conservative worldview, markets aren’t just a useful way to organize the economy; they’re a moral structure: People get paid what they deserve, and what goods cost is what they are truly worth to society.

The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of a set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied…but written off as trash.

As the critic John Berger wrote last century, and which is even more applicable in this today: The only inflation we have to fear is the inflated sense of entitlement of the meritocrats and their politicians.

Just so. And there is no distinction between goods and humans, in terms of their worth. Which is how 80-people in the world came to own more of it than 3.5 billion-people. How long before it will be just 20? Or 10? Or ultimately 1 or 2? And we accept this?

Our meritocrats dupes convince themselves that talented, worthy individuals are victims mediocre pays, held back by the public interest, by society—made up mostly of inferior beings. The superior ones should not be made to sacrifice themselves for the undeserving mediocrities of the world.

Our 70% voters are naïve, thinking they won’t ultimately be labeled ‘undeserving’, as their fortunes decline. The meritocratic ‘wolf’ will get them later.

  • GoodIsAlsoEvil:

Philosophers are like forked tongue lawyers/politicians. They are rather good at putting their foot in their mouths(quite evident in this script). Firstly, Good people are as much a liability as bad people when serving the people’s interests – that’s where it( it’s not called “self interests” but inserted as people’s interests when one needs to be politically correct) gets tricky and full of slippery and slimy loopholes.

Anyone who offers politics, which this script is about, will have to appeal to your “self interests”, but also not far from their own interest either which never were apparent.

No one can agree on “self interests front” so long as a philosophical king plays politics with people.

If the script requires/appeals you to vote(in people’s interests??? which basically means self interests – including politicians interests), you will forever be trapped in the snakes pit – with their poisoned fangs sinking into your buttery butts.
