Election boundary committee should be formed with approval of parliament

I am disappointed to learn that an MP of the Workers’ Party has to ask in parliament whether the election boundary committee has been formed.

It is important for this committee to be appointed and approved by parliament.

Although the PAP controls the majority in parliament, and are likely to get their nominated candidates approved by parliament, it is still a proper process for the committee to be appointed by parliament.

The past practice appears to be that the cabinet or prime minister will appoint the committee and for the committee to work in secret to carry ou their work in deciding on redrawing the boundary.

This practice is unsatisfactory. It is also unfair.

The members of the committee should be submitted to parliament and approved by a vote of parliament. This is to ensure that the selection of this important committee is transparent and that they will carry out their work fairly.

This will build the trust in the fairness of the democratic process.

I hope that the prime minister pays attention to his point and submit his candidates for approval of parliament.

@Mr. Tan; do you really think there is such a thing? As long as the PAP is still in power forget about fairness and democratic process!!

If we really want fairness and democracy, vote out the PAP!! HK used their lives to fight for this, SG only use votes!!

  • All talk no action:

While Singaporeans kpkb, PAP MPs n ministers r laughing all the way to the banks n sneering at how stupid they r. So daft to be conned by give outs which r their own money while their cpf monies which they have been accumulating all their years mandatoriy not for their old age but for them to siphon out for the nepotists to learn n got paid humongous bonus even though they lost billions. A few rewards out of state funds n a few directorship in state own listed companies will get the professionals to succumb n as LHY n LWL unchallenged compliancy allegation (which as all the 3 SIN PMs declared to Singaporeans that they r true if unchallenged n the accused should resign n what Singaporeans should do then r self explanatory unless they r really that stupid) do as told n be rewarded for violating their oath before their God n face karma if they do believe in the God upon whose head they swore upon.

Kpkb abt too many foreigners – Sing Chun Chan threatened more to displace SIN Pmets

Kpkb abt medic cost – pay insurance from cpf for everyone in the family, else pay cash

Kpkb abt high cost of living – increase utilities costs, tariffs, fees, fares, est, erp, rentals taxes n hdb shops n stalls

kpkb cpf no more – no like then legalize draining out so they can ho ho more pay, n happy shares, intensify lhy/lwl allegation to facts

kpkb abt ministers pay – suka suka with lhy/lwl revelation of sealing said anything incl ownslf paying bodyguard, pay airfares ( surely not private trip or is it even private trip have been paid by Singaporeans b4)

Kpkb abt minister benefits – sama suka suka so Khaw $8 but Heng sama private patient

So need to kpkb. Action boot them out. They don’t trust singaporeans – their bodyguards r foreign, import more foreigners, free education with pocket monies for foreign students etc etc, WHY should you trust them with your homeland n country!

    VTO VTO no more delay!

  • Dirty tricks:

All the dirty tricks and playing with words.

Check the committee members pay cheque and investigate each and everyone of them because they could be doing the works already but not formed up as a committee as yet.

These are all kinds of dirty words tricks to be careful of.

I don’t trust MIW anymore, that’s the reason of the suspicion.

    Here is the suggestion.

Each and every committee members must declare its work scope prior to being formed as a member in the Election Boundary Committee. These declaration must be made public.

  • opposition dude:

Sorry Mr Tan, PAP are in charge and they will do whatever they want whenever they want.

You know that and we all know that too. You want fairness then PAP must not be in charge, it’s as simple as that.

The only problem are the kiasees.

Trust is a two-way street, i.e., “trust to be trusted” Does the PAP trust Singaporeans? If not, then Singaporeans should not trust PAP and, in addition, throw them out of Parliament.

//“Trust the electoral process”?? But haven’t we been admonished to trust “leaders” instead?//

trust brownies also has a formula.

wayang first time – discount 10% of what he says.
wayang second time – discount 30% of what he says.
wayang third time – discount 70% of what he says.

normally if a person keeps on flipping prata too many times, it can be quite safe to assume that he will flip the prata the next time (on the balance of probability) – no consistency on his words and hence not trustworthy.

  • Should Elections be Abolished?:

Given the extreme support by pap fans, would they support a bill to abolish elections to officialise a One-Party-only system to satisfy their wish for No Change in govt?

    TKL,
WP to me is Untrustable based on its past decades of inaction and avoiding asking countless of pertinent questions usually first raised on Blogs.
WP also could be Guilty of TC funda use.

Is its role to show the world there is minimal opposition in sg while portraying a weak and incompetent political party so as to show how great a certain party is?

    TKL,
Is the Election process UnTemperable ?
If not, where can the process be hacked?
Is there not one second the box is unwatched by volunteers?
Is there a moment the box is out of sight?
Or the current process is Unhackable, Untemperable?

So far not one opposition has focussed on this question.
    Why?

    Also wayang parties?

How to expect change from sg opposition?
HK parliament has more robust opposition than sg has.

Basing on Transparency is better thab basing on trust.

    Opposition supporters already don’t trust.

    To trust is to believe.
Why believe if there is evidence?
Eg. Do you trust your son is yours or do you do a dna test? If you do a dna test, the result will be clear and there is no need to trust. Trust is for religions because gods cannot be scientifically proven.
The people can demand for transparency and then there is no need to base on beliveing.
But the PEOPLE IS THE PROBLEM.

    HOPELESS CASE.
