Higher bursary for higher education

I welcome the higher bursary for higher education. However, I must point out that the increase of $44 million a year is a small amount, when seen in the context of the total budget of Singapore of $20 billion.

The total bursary of $167 million a year is also small. It is probably the cost of 2 F35-A fighter jets. We probably need to replace more than 2 fighter jets each year.

Nevertheless, I welcome this change. I only want to put it in its proper context.

The strategy of the government seems to be to allow the cost of higher education to go up “according to market” and to have subsidy to help to reduce the cost.

I prefer effective measures to control the cost. Perhaps there should be effective measures to stop lavish spending. Surely we do not need to have luxurious furnishings for our universities?

What could be guidelines on cost control? Perhaps we can select a few public universities and exchange information about the cost of providing education. The average cost could be used as a benchmark.

We want to provide higher education to many young people, but we need a cost effective way of providing that education. This will allow the budget to benefit more students.

  • Budget number, again:

“total budget of Singapore of $20 billion.”

I don’t blame Mr Tan, a Presidential candidate, for not knowing Singapore’s publicly announced budget, when actual Presidents don’t know Singapore’s reserve (and therefore Singapore’s real expenses and incomes).

  • He entice Votes You Pay for it:

    Vote Wisely:
I see it as the insincere trying very hard to erase away the realization of Neglect that todate Billions had been given away to foreigners Scholarship [~1 million dollars per day], yes you heard it right ~$1,000,000.00 per One Single Day literally *FREE* to foreigner. [we denote this as A]

Suddenly you see new enhanced bursary schemes 44 millions per year came out probably to entice voters. [denote B]

    But;

The question is [A + B] who is footing the bills + Climate Change 100B [when Singapore is 15m above sea level]…. + F35 Fighter Jets.

After the election and when they achieve the 2/3, my dear Singaporeans, you will know who is footing those bills. I am sure we will be in for real pain, surely and many many more will be out of jobs.

It’s time that we begin to refocus on our OWN family and Children needs than draining own money away for others interests while tax, tariffs, GST continue to hike and hike and still hike.

    Please vote wisely.

gic temasick belong to 70% sheep.

gic temasick do not belong to lky or his estate.

gic temasick exist so that lives of 70% sheep become better, such as lower income taxes and ZERO GST.

    alas.

lky clown prints and clown prints wife squandered S$billions in gic temasick through dishing out lucrative no need to account for anything positions to loyal Ljs and loyal Cbs such as retired paper general desmond quek and useless time expired ministers such as lim boon heng.

now that gic temasick coffers are empty, 70% sheep CPF ZERO chance to be returned completely at 55. also ZERO chance for 7% to reduce. rather, GST to go up to 9% so that jobless 70% sheep can pay more taxes.

education should be free for local born, especially those who waste years in NSF NSR.

instead lky clown prints and S$m gang provide S$1m per day for aliens FTs PRs to be educated at the expense of local born.

those parents who are so ffffing happy for children to be in poly ITE wake up. ffff. poly ITE are never meant for your children. poly ITE are meant for pap ministers’ children.

you, parents of 70% sheep fold, have gotten it all wrong.

your sons NSF NSR and pay for education. aliens FTs PRs no need NSF NSR and free of charge education. you are ffffed. you MFs wake up.

The govt should give free education to all instead of helping a few. They want the poor to beg for it. The govt can afford it by reducing their high salaries and giving monies to foreign students

make sure only sgs who are full citizens get such bursaries.
no lame excuses to sponsor PRs or their kids, pls.
enough of benefits for them oredey!

this amount still pales in comparison to FT-SCHOLARSHTS ON A “PER CAPITA BASIS’,ya?

more pls esepcially to our own sg kids from jobless and needy families.

maybe,i would like to see more bursaries awarded to kids of those who sacrifice much like oppo sgs such as DR CHEE’S FAMILY whose family live very simply compared to what they could easily have had if they were mere self-centred sgs like many educated with PHDs???

bro, there is a difference between bursary for local born and S$1m per day for aliens FTs PRs who do not need to serve a single day NSF NSR.

when pap can waste S$1m per day on aliens FTs PRs who do not even waste a single day in NSF NSR, why do local born need to pay for education at all?

  • Harder Truths:

It’s nice to know that after getting all these ‘subsidies’ (paid for by citizens) the best a citizen can do is to be a taxi driver.

What is the point if all the jobs go to FT?
