Eight Tips For Living While Unemployed

I found myself suddenly jobless.

It’s too complicated to explain the whole situation, but suffice to say, it left me feeling anxious and sad. I did what I could to resolve the situation but it was all in vain.

During these past few days of being jobless, I took the following steps to make me feel better. I can look back on my days with satisfaction and I find myself moving forward with hope.

1. Exercise.

I exercise to manage my mood, it calms me and also energizes me at the same time. You don’t have to exercise that rigorously to achieve good positive health effects. For example, jogging 3-5km thrice a week will do you much good.

2. Do something nice for someone else

Try doing something special for someone which not only surprises them but you will feel good too.
For example – e-mail someone directly rather than simply forward the message that you find useful for them. Drive your partner to work. No car, no problem, ride and commute with him/her.

3. Stop thinking back

No matter how bad the situation was, you just have to move forward, not backwards. Even if someone did you wrong, wrote nasty e-mail to you, just let it slide and move on with your life.

4. Connect with someone important to you

Could be a long-lost friend/contact. Who knows, they may just have something in the pipeline for you.

5. Tackle something which you’ve been putting off

Attacking and crossing off items on your to-do list, you may want to clear your room, throw out unnecessary things and realise you have the power to make space. I know cos I just did it!

6. Do something silly, whacky, out-of-character

This is the time to explore and try different things!

7. Be yourself, be true to who you really are

Getting out of the corporate suit and pretentious ways. Now at least you don’t have to ‘carry’ b***s.

8. Go to sleep early

Getting enough sleep is simply underrated. Most of us simply sleep too little, causing us to be short-fused and lose productivity in the process. Sleep your troubles away. Everything looks better in the morning.

    Other tips:

    1) Blame other people for your misfortune if justified.
    2) Berate people @ WIS, Jobs bank for being useless.
    3) Plot revenge and seek vegeance on those who wronged you. Why? Justice is expensive. Nothing more satisfactory than taking revenge.
    4) Make it a point to tick off interviewers who wasted our time. Because they already decided not to hire you yet ask you to go down.
    5) Don’t rely on job agencies. They are time wasters.
    6) Don’t patronise shops with lots of foreign staff. They are the reason locals are jobless.
    7) Don’t vote political parties who favor employers and foreigners only.
    8) Enjoy solitude. Because your fair weathered friends and acquaintances will avoid you.
    9) Cut out all recurring expenses like insurance, monthly plan phone. Because these suck your blood every month.
    10) Use the internet for music, movies. Use the library. It saves you quite a fair bit.
    11) Shop at places like Daiso and other thrift stores. Cause certain items are cheaper here than supermarkets.
    12) Sign up for your favorite stores’ mailiong lists. They’ll inform you of sales and previews.
    13) Get rid of your car. Take public transport.
    16) Avoid weddings, funerals because they cost money. Say you longer live at your last known address.
    17) Move abroad.

I think you are a PAP voter who voted PAP all your life and suddenly got a taste of the bitter medicine. Honestly, you deserve it, a lot of people dont see this coming as they always think if they have a job, it is the other people who are opposition voters that will be impacted.

The high chances is to be self employed, driving Grab or be Grab delivery or be Real Estate or Insurance.

    If you are young, migrate.

Vote PAP to screw yourself is probably an issue with 70% and when they realise, it is too late.

Here is one for the perpetual worriers…Empty your mind and meditate for an hour or two and you will be asleep before you KNOW it…

Don’t jump out of bed when you are awake…lull in bed and lift your feet to the wall of your bed one foot above your heart and meditate for 1/2 hour…you will feel fresh as a Daisy to face the day…it works for me I hope it does to for all of you

And you do not need naps in the afternoon…pushing 80 without naps in the afternoon is not easy to achieve…your eyes and mind will tell when you meditate before sleep and waking up

  • never voted pap:

You have missed out the most important.

First thing first. The most important is to repent from voting pap all these years and start to fight for OPPO to form New Government.

New Government is the only chance for your children. If papa is fired 3 times in own land of birth, you think your children any chance under same money faced regime? Sorry. Your children kosong chance unless their papa repents his pap voting ways and starts to fight for OPPO to form New Government.

  • Harder Truths:

    WTF?

This is the worst advice I have seen. If you really want a job somehow you got to get your foot in the door – by hook or crook.

A lot of legwork and phonecalls and e-mails – 99% negative. But that one phonecall / email / interview may make the difference. If you have to lie or bullshit or be underhanded to get the job – then do it.

F**k principles – if you can’t feed yourself you are in BIG trouble.

Remember for every job you have your eye on – there are maybe 10 hungry desperate $G locals applying and another 100 FT in front of them.

And WORRY a lot – it helps tp keep you focused and not listen to crap and end up rummaging through NTUC garbage bins

When meditating…use a MANTRA where you can relax like “Anitaba”…”Om” or the Bastard who is so fearful of Death he Chants “Maranatha” calling for Jesus to save his evil soul…

Peace and be ONE with the Universe when you meditate

Pt6 , Daiso , thrift stores also hire foreign workers. What a joker!

Pt8, if situation reverse you may also avoid your jobless friend or relatives.

Shows she just a nasty lady or … we dont know i have my suspicion that she may not be a she. Maybe a transvestite, a drag queen , a ah quah. Of course i could be wrong.

Alas, Partial truth always tell the PARTAIL Truth and Not the FULL Picture.

People who are nasty to you are your enemies. They won’t help but rather put you down. So you can’t be a pushover doormat kind of person. Maybe Partial Truth likes to be stepped on or farked over, a closet masochist.

So Partial Truth don’t pay tax, foreigners clean your neigborhood, pick up your shite etc. Boycott govt agencies cause they also got lots of foreigners. Boycott political parties with ex foreigners.

When it comes to identity, Partial Truth is completely silent. So we don’t know if this is a He, she, it or puss* cunt IB.

    @ Python 5:
It’s becoming a consistent theme for local disenfranchised PMEs (Joblessness, a lack of self-worth), bro. You’ve said it well.

Jobless Harry should have “seen the light” 1-2 retrenchments ago! But the inability to “think out of the box” entrapped him to live a fruitless life in silly S’pore under the useless PAP eco-system. Very hard to feel sorry for him because he is, after all, the architect of his own demise!

And his 8 points is just “learned helplessness”. The only point that would have mattered was “Migrate” or move overseas. Staying in S’pore is either life imprisonment or worse, a death sentence. It gives suicidal thoughts to end one’s own life. And this is the next step from “learned helplessness”. Jobless Harry is really a sorry damned a**!

  • More Jobs for local please:

One of the reasons our local are out of jobs is the loophole of our EP system.
Many employers have taken advantage of the EP system to bring in FT for jobs that can easily be filled by locals.
Such jobs as clinics reception, nurse and manager etc should be filled by local first. Clinics should not be filled by many FT of related members, a clear abuse of the system to bring related family member here.
Time for MOM to seriously look at all the EP applications to ensure that jobs that can be easily filled by locals go to local first.
Stop renewing such EP please when due….We need to give more jobs to locals.

    you think pap doesn’t know?

but GDP bonus depends on GDP growth. and GDP growth does not distinguish between local or alien.

since all employers like cheap cheaper cheapest aliens, too bad. pap has to import aliens so that GDP continues to grow. otherwise GDP bonus affected.

grow up. you want jobs. vote OPPO. that is the only way in current pap run Singapore.
