Shameless Bukit Buttocks PAP MP Murali blows own trumpet

Thanks to SDP’s Dr Chee [ LINK ], PAP MP Murali has been forced to apologise more than 10 days after a fire in Bukit Batok almost killed 3 of his residents.

Murali’s own town council, Jurong-Clementi Town Council (JRTC), has been slapped with 2 Fire Hazard Abatement Notices by SCDF for not exercising common sense, ie padlocking fire-hose compartments and turning off the tap supplying water to the fire hoses.

In his Thursday Facebook clarification/apology, Murali capitalised on his residents’ misfortune to trumpet his own deeds:
“I was actually at the fire scene on the same day itself, just before 8 am” (Point to note is the fire was put out while Murali was slumbering and he probably had a hearty breakfast before going down to the scene.)
“My focus fell on residents affected by the fire and see how we can help them”
“I also met and thanked several residents who helped with the evacuation during the firefight”
“I was naturally concerned about both matters and immediately responded that the SCDF officers would have to investigate these issues”
“I then channelled our energies to help the affected families staying on the 14th and the 15th floors of the block”

Murali then tried to explain away his town council officers’ ‘mistake’ – idiocy in fact – by claiming that they padlocked the fire hose compartments for a good reason.

On the issue of no water supply to fire hoses, the PAP MP had initially accepted JKeart’s fake video evidence. In such a situation, the PAP MP should have exercised some common sense and sent his TC officers for inspection.

Murali had instead allowed JKeart to own self check own.

If Dr Chee had not learnt from residents that there was no water supply to the fire hoses and queried SCDF, Murali would not have known that JKeart had faked the video evidence.

Town councilor Murali clearly did not know what he was doing. 3 residents could have died and taking disciplinary action against 2 rank and file employees will not do. Murali should man up, take a bow and do what the Japanese did in the good old days.

JKeart is the exclusive fire protection maintenance contractor for 8 town councils, covering about 5000 HDB blocks. Other customers include CPF Board, PA, HDB, Keppel, ITE, Mapletree, EM Services, etc.

After the Bukit Batok incident, it is not known if water will be supplied to all fire hoses, especially when needed.

  • Just for Show:

When I made a complaint to AHTC, straightaway they sent an officer to look into the matter and it was resolved right away. That’s how efficient they are. A fire hose that is under lock and key, and without water supply is only good for show. Don’t the Bangla workers use the water-hose to wash the staircases and have access to the key? They would know if there was no water-supply unless they have not been washing the area for a long time.

JKeart – another $2 FT company most likely owned by ex-pappy to make retirement monies. What’s wrong with making more money?

No water? most likely water stolen by FT company to do other works to avoid paying water charges.

    You die your business.

So much for being physically there at the time of the fire. What good did it do him?

If he was there at the time of the fire, he ought to know that there was no water coming from the fire hose. Yet there was silence until the matter was highlighted by SDP’s Dr Chee. It must be the silence of guilt that cannot be explained away.

Now, he says he is taking responsibility. How? Punish two rank and file staff publicly? So now he needs to clarify as to how he is taking responsibility for this issue.

If such a situation were to occur at AHTC–imagine the song and dance the PAP will put up.

Had it not been for SDP’s Dr Chee still making his rounds; and still showing interest and concern to those folks, the whole issue would have been swept away as negligence of the flat occupiers.

In short, the PAP MP was there but see nothing, hear nothing and know nothing. But I dare say, if you pay him $1.00 less, you will not hear the end of it for years to come.

Time to get rid of the PAP, once and for all times.

In the wake of serious lapse of the malfunctioned fire hose reel in Bt Batok fire recently, what have the talkative in-coming white emperor has to say about his white commander MP? The deputy emperor talked and lectured the oppo WP MPs for over one hour in Parleemen. So much time wasted, but this BB fire due to fire equipment lapse is a very serious one which put the lives of BB flat residents in great danger.

  • Singapore leadership #1:

Singapore leadership is likely to earn the world’s envy.

When something goes wrong, the top looks for some small fish to bear the responsibility and be punished. For the top, it is a learning experience.

The blaming of padlocks on two low level counsel staff is particularly examplary. The use of padlocks must be a system wide thing. How can “leaders” and other staff not notice it? Don’t they ever look at the fire hoses when they walk around? Don’t the locks feature as an expense item for managers to approve and call for tender? Are the counsel workers so well paid that they can use their own salary to buy locks for the entire constituency?

Now the counsel staff doing the work gets the blame. How can?
