  • Playing with words:

“we do not direct individual investment decisions.”
    can mean
1)We simply tell them to invest a total of $200 billion in, e.g., Tibet. This is not an individual investment decision.
2)We approve their big investment decisions. Still, we do not direct their decisions.

As Ang says, if the Board does not have any influence, it is a Board of Chiak liaw bee. Take money, no influence. Time to return $.

The PAP is trying to hide behind legalese to that PAP is not involved in GIC decision making.

In fact I would go so far as to say that the PAP and all Singapore institutions are one.

It ought not to be the case but it is. The 70% made it so.

This ever encircling arms(as distinct from tentacles) of the PAP will eventually suffocate the citizens. What people are experiencing now is really nothing compared with what will be.

The children of Singaporeans and new citizens will be the ones to suffer the full force of PAP’s all round failures.

So true blue Singaporeans need to wake up and canvass their friends and neighbours to save the country from the clutches of the PAP.

On another note: the new version of Majulah Singapura is really meant for the new citizens, as the true blue Singaporeans are slowly faded out of our own homeland. So as it is not meant for true blue Singaporeans, why is there the need to consult them?

When it comes to paying ~$300,000.00 per day, well, they are the independent entity.

By spinning off into another entity, does it mean that government bodies becomes independent entities and you can pay multi million dollars of tax-payers derived money onto selves and your wife?

Isn’t this applying multi-faces to fool the public?

When 100m within is not inside, Indian can become Malay, own-selves exempted from the LAWs, aren’t those already blatantly clear of the very danger signs of abuse of power?

Trust is Gone! No sensible people would put trust on such kinds of abuses.

It’s times to take care of own children future by voting for Change, regardless of any promises of no GST increase or special bonuses to be given before the coming election.

Opposition to oppose the self-inking pen for fool proofing the election. This is to avoid possibility of erasing [by uv or chemical] and re-inking when the voting slip pass through any machines which would envelope / hike the slip entirely, example the counting machines but strictly any machines.

The rationale is marking the voting slip by hand-written cross is like a personal signature onto the slip which is almost impossible to duplicate.

Unlike the fixed-inking pattern which could be subjected to election fraud as the pattern are all the same and cannot be distinguished. In terms of fool and fraud proofing the election and increase the reliability, the self-inking pen should be strongly objected. Alternatively, to be seen to be fair, Opposition to supply all the inking pens and all the machines.

The argument that the counting machine is only use after manual sorting and counting cannot be acceptable. This is to avoid discovering that some tickets are wrongly sorted when it was secretly “re-inked”.

    Good piece.

If X,Y,Z belong to a party and hold influential positions in an entity then how can it be that they have no influence?

If key members from a party have influential posts (and thereby wield influence)does it then follow that their party and government does not wield influence through them?

Must an entire government and party sit at the top of an entity to claim that it has influence or would key members from said groups sitting in those key posts be exercising that influence on behalf of them?

When a head of government or state makes a statement in an official setting or signs an agreement with another party on official matters are they not doing so on behalf of the government, state, and the citizens?

Are they not wielding influence on behalf of the government, state, and citizens (and in effect their party)?

If X,Y,Z were not members of the government and a party would they be in those influential positions at the top of the entity? So how can it be said that their influence is not in any way linked to the government or a party?

Of course, if nothing is meant to make any sense then that’s fine.

Indeed, trust has little to do with beating around technicalities but convincing people that you are open, transparent, forthcoming, allow for questioning and debate, and can occasionally explain something without reading the wrong stuff from the wrong notes at the wrong time in the wrong place.

    Have a good week.

  • Unavoidable:

Most people understood GIC and TH to be Govt-linked and therefore it would not be unreasonable of them to think that the Govt, through its representatives sitting on the various Boards, exercises oversight over all investment decisions. At the end of the day, the people will still hold the Govt accountable for the outcome of all govt-linked investments.

The Government claims that it does NOT INFLUENCE the decisions of GIC and Temasek, let alone direct the individual investment decisions made by Temasek & GIC.

Can the Government clarify what it means by “INFLUENCE”, especially so, in the case of GIC, its Board consists of several Ministers, at that time, headed by Lee Kuan Yew, the Minister Mentor and a Cabinet Minister?

Once upon a time there were two initiate zebras who wanted to know if they were white with black stripes, or black with white stripes. One little zebra suggested that they visit the “King Zebra of the Wise” The two little zebras went to King Zebra and inquired, “Are we black with white stripes, or white with black stripes?”
    The King Zebra pronounced:
“We are who We are!” So the one little zebra affirmed, “OK Sire” and galloped away immediately; and the other little zebra went after him.

The little zebra caught up with the first, “He didn’t answer us, so what are we?” The first zebra exclaimed: “Of course, we are white with black stripes!” The little zebra answered, “Well how do you know that?” The wizened zebra retorted, “Well if we were black with white stripes he would have said:
“We is who we is, O gabra!”

The information about GIC’s Board has always been publicly available on GIC’s website.

The question readers might want to ask is whether the 2nd article on the Ministry of Finance’s direction for the application of POFMA in regards to Brad Bowyer’s comments could not have been incorporated into the 1st article.

Would we have seen the 2nd article, as above, without my posting in the 1st article link.

And it has been several days since MOF invoked POFMA and yet we don’t find the so called oppos like the ‘red idiot’ (most probably an IB from the Wayang Party) or anyone from the oppos, calling out the PAPies’ hogwash about the Government does not “influence” GIC & Temasek’s investment decisions.
