The government should provide transparent data on the confirmed cases

About Singapore’s #COVID19, right now confirmed cases in the community seem to be going down, but there has been so much focus on the spread of COVID-19 in the dormitories that our eye seems to have been taken off the ball on how the cases in the community (among all non-dormitory residents) is developing.

As cases in the community come down towards manageable levels, the government should go back to providing full and transparent information on the confirmed cases, as well as their contact tracing details, so that Singaporeans are informed of these cases and where they are presenting, in order that the necessary precautions can be taken among members of the public.

In addition, for cases among the dormitories, the government should provide transparent data on the number of migrant workers suspected of COVID-19 infection, the exact number of tests done on a daily basis, as well as the total number of tests done additively, so that it is reported to Singaporeans as well as the migrant workers in the dormitories how the scope of testing is being broadened, and the timeline as to how cases within the dormitories is being brought down.

Also, for community treatment and recovery facilities where COVID-19 patients are being held, the government needs to provide the exact details on the arrangement on how care and treatment is being conducted, the number of healthcare workers being allocated to each of these facilities, the number of healthcare workers per patient, and in view of how isolation is not possible in these facilities, how the infection is being managed among patients, as well as the social distancing measures being adopted in these facilities.

Additionally, with there being less than 600 negative-pressure isolation beds and critical care beds in Singapore, the government needs to provide a report as to the patients who are currently prioritized for these beds, and the types of conditions patients who are warded into these critical care facilities present with. In addition, the government needs to provide information as to how the situation is being managed in cases where patients would require such critical care beds but these beds are no longer available.

Also, other than increasing community treatment and recovery beds, what is the government’s strategy for increasing the number of negative-pressure isolation beds, and what is the targeted number of such beds Singapore is able to increase to?

Finally, while COVID-19 patients currently receive free treatment, have there been instances where patients are also being treated for other medical conditions, and who have been required to pay additional costs? If there are additional costs, such information should also be provided – on the types of costs and medical conditions required, as well as the average costs patients have been required to borne, if any.

  • Top Money for Top Talents:

    Dear Roy,
Every readers here knew your hidden agenda.
You have crossed over to the enemy side (Taiwan DPP) and you are now a full time DPP IB 1450 launching attack on Singapore.

Since you are in Taiwan for good, you should concern with Taiwan politics and start asking hard question on DPP on the following.

Recently a fire broke out at a KTV PartyWorld and kill 5 people in Taiwan.

DPP are always quick to attack/condemned people who were not affiliated with them.

Now, DPP is SILENCE, and TOTALLY SILENCE and DARE NOTE attack the OWNER (练台生) of KTV PartyWorld.

    WHY ? BECAUSE:
    1. the KTV owner operate a media company (年代電視台) that everyday sing praise of DPP President Tsai. It is a mouthpiece for DPP.
    2. the owner 练台生 donate lots of money to DPP election campaign

Roy, please question your newly adopted country Taiwan DPP why they are not taking swift, I mean SWIFT action against the owner 练台生 of the KTV.

You know, despite being maligned by the PAP and the PM in particular, Roy has shown that his analysis and potential solutions to problems are well thought through.

Why can’t our grossly overpaid and obscenely rich multi-millionaire Ministers learn to exercise their brains for a change?

    There are about:
    - 200,000 workers in 43 large dormitories
    - 95,000 in 1,200 factory-converted dormitories
    - 20,000 workers in construction temporary quarters
    - 70,000? (85,000?) work permit and S Pass holders from the construction sector in HDB flats or private residential premises https://str.sg/JQAT

    https://www.straitstimes.com/politics/majority-of-dorm-operators-flout-licensing-conditions-each-year-says-josephine-teo
Apart from the 200,000 workers housed in large dormitories, there are about 95,000 workers living in factory-converted dormitories. Most of these workers are from the construction, marine and process sectors.

Another 20,000 workers are housed in temporary quarters on construction sites.

There are also 85,000 work permit and S Pass holders from the construction sector who live in HDB flats, private residential premises and other sites.

HOPE THAT MOM-MOH WILL PROVIDE A DAILY DETAILED BREAKDOWN OF TOTAL NO. OF WORKERS TESTED BY HOUSING TYPES VIZ, PBD/FCD/TEMP QRTS/OTHERS (85,000 WP/SPASS) & NO. OF CONFIRMED CASES ETC!

TRUST IS EARNED & IT IS BUILT UP ESPECIALLY IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC CRISIS REQUIRING GOVT TO BE OPEN & TRANSPARENT IN HANDLING THE COVID CLUSTERS & COMMUNITY CASES AMONG THE FOREIGN WORKERS POPULATION WHICH IS MASSIVE ABOUT 400,000 (ABOUT 90% IE.17,000 OF CONFIRMED CASES TOTALLING 18,778 AS OF 4TH MAY ARE FWs) AT HIGH RISK OF CONTRACTING COVID & TRANSMITTING IT TO THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE & THREATEN SG’s SURVIVAL!
