Total 23,336 COVID-19 cases with 876 new infections as of 10th May 2020

The Ministry of Heath (MOH) has confirmed and verified an additional 876 cases of COVID-19:

  • Imported Cases: 1 (total 580)
  • Dormitory Cases: 860 (total 20,961)
  • Community Cases *: 15 (total 1,795)
  • Community Un-linked **: 2 (total 709)
* Cases in the community regardless of nationality and excluding “Dormitory Cases”.

** Un-linked cases in the community regardless of nationality and excluding “Dormitory Cases”. Total indicates the number of cases that are still currently un-linked.

Community Cases Missing

MOH removed 115 cases from its community cases tally in its latest situation report. Total tally for Saturday (9 May) situation report was 1,910, but Sunday’s (10 May) tally dropped to 1,795. No reason was given as to why, but it is likely that they have been re-classified under dormitory cases as the total tally remains correct.

False Positives

MOH said that 33 cases from a laboratory were false positives, due to an apparatus calibration issue for one of its test kits. Subsequent retesting at the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed that these were negative cases. There were no false negative results discovered from our review. MOH has taken immediate actions to rectify the situation. The laboratory has stopped all tests and is working to resolve the calibration issue. In addition, there were two results that had been equivocal, and were subsequently verified to be negative upon re-testing.

Status of Confirmed Cases

  • Isolated ***: 19,498
  • Hospitalised: 1,097
  • Discharged From Hospital: 2,721
  • Death Due To COVID-19: 20
  • Death Not Due To COVID-19****: 6

Of the total confirmed cases, 22 are in critical condition.

***  Isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19.

**** COVID-19 infected but did not die as a result of the disease, according to the MOH.

  • Glad to know that MOH has finally decided to mass test all the workers dorms, albeit IMHO a little late.

With 300,000 workers in Sinkieland, on a rate of 30%, Sinkieland should be able to overtake Wuhan before Xmas.

And while people around the world then would be celebrating Xmas, Sinkies would be busy building a very long runway and fighting the pandemic at the same time. lol

Better to review how the Virus actually spread in each type of FW Dormitories.
Only by data and facts can we understand the real causes of the Virus spread there.Only then can we take effective measures to contain it.
Hope it will be a good lesson learn to prevent such spread problem in future against pandemic..especially in closed community like FW.Although a costly one for Singapore.

SINGAPORE – A man who allegedly left his home multiple times although he had been served with a stay-home notice (SHN) amid the coronavirus outbreak appeared in a district court on Monday (May 11).

Singaporean Teo Say Leong, 64, now faces four charges under the Infectious Diseases Act.

He is also accused of an offence under the Infectious Diseases (Covid-19 – Stay Orders) Regulations 2020.

Teo, who is unrepresented, told the court that he intends to plead guilty to his charges.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a statement on Monday that Teo arrived in Singapore from Indonesia on March 20 and was served with an SHN.

As part of the notice, he was supposed to remain at home from his arrival date until April 3.

Despite this, he is said to have left his Jalan Sultan home near Beach Road daily between March 23 and 26 for “non-permitted purposes”, spending about an hour outdoors around his neighbourhood on each occasion.
    …..

He is accused of failing to remain at home when its officers went to his flat on March 29 for enforcement checks.

ICA said: “Teo had left his residence to buy lunch and proceeded to an open area nearby to consume it. He was outside his residence for approximately 50 minutes.

“When he returned, he was reminded by the ICA officers that he had to remain at his residence at all times during the 14-day SHN period.”…..

Teo’s case has been adjourned to May 20.

For each charge, a person convicted of an offence under the Act and its Regulations can be jailed for up to six months and fined up to $10,000.”Unquote.

Response : {ICA said: “Teo had left his residence to buy lunch and proceeded to an open area nearby to consume it. He was outside his residence for approximately 50 minutes.}. Did the ICA come to his house every day to buy lunch and dinner for him . Maybe include a 16 inch fan inside his house else the hot weather at some days is hard to endure. Else, if ICA just know how to issue stay home notice(SHN) without providing essentials like daily food and other necessary items i.e soap, drinks, underwear, clothing, shaver,…. , then will any person serving stay home notice of 14 days and cannot go out to buy food, then will not died of starvation meh? If ICA did not provide necessary essentials, 50 minutes outside is a reasonable time for one to go downstairs to buy and return.

    Jean Iau
SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 486 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore on Monday (May 11), taking the total count to 23,822.
    ….

MOH said the lower number of cases on Monday is partly due to fewer tests being processed at a testing laboratory that is “recalibrating its apparatus for one of the test kits”.

Migrant workers living in dormitories continue to form the bulk of the remaining cases.

The ministry said more details will be released later on Monday.

On Sunday, MOH announced that 33 Covid-19 cases from a laboratory were false positives due to an apparatus calibration issue for one of its test kits.

Subsequent retesting at the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed that the cases, and two more that had equivocal results, were actually negative.

The ministry said no false negative results were discovered and immediate action has been taken to rectify the situation. The lab has also stopped all tests and is working to solve the calibration issue.

MOH also reported 876 new cases on Sunday, including an imported case. He is a 61-year-old Singaporean man with a travel history to Qatar who was placed on stay-home notice upon arriving in Singapore.

This was the first imported case in over two weeks since two imported cases were confirmed on April 26.

A total of 20,961 workers from dormitories have been diagnosed with Covid-19 so far, accounting for about 6.5 per cent of 323,000 dorm residents.

Local cases, excluding dormitory residents and other work permit holders, fell to an average of nine daily the past week, from 11 two weeks ago.
    ….

So far, 20 people have died from Covid-19 complications here and six others who tested positive have died from other causes.

Logically speaking, if test fully today, should be more then . Recalibration? Is there any changes to the specifications of the test too? Or is there any recalibration to new limits as such as upper limit or lower limit of the tests, or widening of specifications limits? If never check, specifications limits may be changed behind the scene and nobody knows. So next time, after rev liberation to maybe new limits, tests cleared easier, who knows???

SINGAPORE – Singapore’s circuit breaker measures have “shown promise” in bringing down the number of coronavirus cases in the local community, and the country is on track to further ease these restrictions on June 1, said Health Minister Gan Kim Yong on Tuesday (May 12).

The number of new cases in the community has continued to fall, from an average of over 30 new cases daily in mid-April, to eight new cases daily in the past week. The situation in the migrant worker dormitories is also stabilising, from a high point of an average of more than 1,000 new cases per day in late April, to an average of about 700 cases per day in the last week.

Mr Gan added that the first step of easing will focus on essential services, with more details to be announced next week.
    ….
Mr Gan said. “We need to do so in a very calibrated, careful way.”

“If we have a big surge of cases after the first opening, then of course the progress will have to be slowed down, and it may become necessary for us to reintroduce some of the circuit breaker measures to keep the numbers low.”

The Government will monitor the situation once safe distancing measures are rolled back, and take further steps if numbers do not spike, he told reporters at a virtual press conference…. “Unquote.

Wait till that Little India Street start to form huge foreigner Indians crowds around those Serangoon Road nearby, and let’s see all those foreigner Indians from India coming to Singapore will spread corona virus at crowded Little Indian Street and its nearby of Serangoon or not?

Numbers do not spike? Obviously, it will not be after all equipment have been calibrated. What is the purpose of calibration? To allow better accuracy measurement? Or is it to shift thing to a position to see data that one big shop wants to see and may have specification widen, narrow to such a way data receive fit one criteria for qualification as “pass” or “fail”. And to have better control of data always below 1000,just do lesser measurement than 1000 will do,and data will forever be less than 1000.Or shift part of today measurement to tomorrow if today measurement exceed 1000.

NEW DELHI – India has now recorded more Covid-19 cases than China as it continues to lift some of its more stringent measures to contain the virus.

The world’s second most populous country has reported 86,508 infections and 2,760 deaths. China has recorded 84,038 cases and 4,637 deaths.

Most of India’s infection cases are registered in its top cities, which are hubs of economic activity, posing both public health and economic challenges.

Nearly a third of the country’s cases were recorded in capital city Delhi, which has a population of 19 million, and Mumbai, the country’s financial capital.

Mumbai, with its 22 million residents and 17512 Covid-19 cases, has seen its health infrastructure coming under pressure amid a growth in coronavirus infections.

Hospitals are overwhelmed, an estimated 487 police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19 and the virus has continued to spread through its slums, which remain a key worry for India’s policy makers.

At Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum, 84 new cases were recorded on Friday, taking the total tally in the slum to 1145 with 54 fatalities.

    Delhi has 8995 confirmed cases.

Its neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have sealed their borders, allowing movement only for essential services.

Experts say that getting the economy back on track fast will depend on getting the virus under control in its top cities.

Other cities recording high numbers of infections include Chennai and Ahmedabad with 5946 and 7171 cases respectively on Friday.

how is it that a infected person in the community did not spread to his entire family and how is it the community cases have not been increasing exposnetially which is the characteristic of the virus?

Why is the community cases appearing like the virus is well tamed when it is not?

There is no future. All sinking without even knowing. The writings are all over the wall. Ignorance is Bliss.

One do not need to be an expert to predict that corona virus cases may fall below 100
in 3-4 weeks time. So most likely General election may occur in 3-4 weeks time too or latest July. So how to hold General Election if corona virus cases did not fall below 100? If corona virus cases is high then, all MP and Ministers won’t they be questioned by oppositions? So that maybe why need to highly paid all those temporary corona virus checkers to $3400 – $3800 high pay for their “co-operation” If they can’t produce below 100,obviously may lose their job rice bowl. If hit target below 100,obviously may get permanent job. Just pretend to check lesser like 100 cases during General Election time, then everything will most likely below 100 new cases! If check 100 only, sure cannot be more than 100,right? No need any rocket scientist to figure out the con women concept of the PAP women Wing!

Finally, a thinking reader. I have been wondering that since MOH started reporting only 300+ cases a day.

Maybe the virus has a contract with PAPies to only infect after the GE? lol
