Why should I even pay my taxes, seeing how the government is throwing taxpayers money on big busines which don’t need them?

For crying out loud, Citibank, like many profitable foreign MNCs, are gripped with guilt and apprehension about keeping the JSS payout for which they don’t need to keep jobs. For Citibank, the amount is already in the tens of millions of dollars, with further payouts still in the pipeline, which I assume they won’t be accepting. I thank them for returning the money but I am mad as hell at the government for carelessly throwing money at big business.

Why the uncalled for generosity? I have never seen the government so generous with the people, but with big business, it is throwing money at them till they are filled with guilt!? Does the government think taxpayers money falls from the sky!?
The local banks are obviously not in need of the money to save jobs either, as shown by their frivolous reasons of how they are using the money – DBS says it is using the money to increase hiring while OCBC says it will use it for staff training to adapt to the post Covid-19 environment and UOB refused to comment. Wait a minute! Isn’t the JSS supposed to help co-fund employee’s salary lest they be retrenched?

In addition to saving jobs, is taxpayers money being used to save Singapore Inc., which is the foundation of the PAP’s hold on power?

DPM Heng owes the people a big explanation why taxpayers money has been so frivolously dispensed while taxpayers themselves are taxed to death.

  • Criminal waste of reserve:

It is totally shocking how this gov throws billions of dollars from OUR reserve to business, regardless of their profitability.

In other countries, companies have to prove big losses in revenue in order to get some subsidies.

Consider individual welfare, any applicant has to show lots of proof of poverty in order to get a few hundred dollars.

Why is this gov throw away our money like that?

    It is totally wasteful.

The President is not working hard enough with her second key.

How is this considered “prudent” when the country’s reserves are being spent in this way? Is it true that DBS hires alot of foreigners locally and overseas?

  • PAP is Doomed:

For Citibank, there are thousands on Foreigners on it’s payroll and third- party contractors, 70%-90% from India.

Our Govt may want to save the their jobs by supplying more cash to sustain them, because of CECA commitments. Govt is afraid Citibank may initiate layoffs.

Just visit Changi Business Park and you will know it this place has become Singapore’s Bangalore town.

Many of them are SG PRs and New Citizens, as many Indian foreigners are living in the East with a huge Indian Global school nearby.

Why must Singapore Govt provide taxpayer grants to such banks who favor FT more than Singaporeans ?

PAP has become more FT-friendly and this must be stopped NOW.

Singaporeans have just woken up and expected to vote for more Opposition to fix the Population Whitepaper and influx of thousands of FT taking over jobs of Singaporeans.

Most offices and factories are closed during the CB period. Therefore their PU usage are also greatly REDUCED! Great savings for them. On top of this, some of those “TOO BIG TO FAIL” are given JSS payouts!

Because of CB, most staff WORK FROM HOME. Therefore, PU usage of most households HAVE INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY. Like Simon always say: THINK. Think the GREAT SAVINGS that are ENJOYED by Big Bosses cum Employers of those offices and factories SHOULD USE the SAVINGS to CUSHION or OFFSET those INCREASE in COST incurred by Their staff who WFH! Their HR has to facilitate the due process. Or better still, Mai Hum SHOULD direct SP to WAIVE or HALF PU charges for the CB duration for all HOUSEHOLDS. SUP SUP THE WATER FOR HIM TO DO THIS NEEDFUL ONCE IN 50 YEARS!

Can we just say that we do not really need very capable and expensive people to think of such a solution! Any Tan, Ahmad or Muthu can come up with such a scheme with OPM.
Can our (S)elected President probe why need to dip into our Reserves for such unthinking givings?
Can HSK explain how much grey matters he has between his 2 ears? Did he use his grey matters before making the decision to give our hard-saved reserves to undeserving people/businesses? Can he enforce that all those receiving our hard-saved Reserved are used for the purpose that he wanted?
Oh, will he not says that because he wasted so much hard-earned Reserves so he must increase GST after the coming election? KNN

  • Siginna:

    To (S)elected President,
It s very obvious that the PAP is not using our hard-saved Reserves correctly! Why on earth they can asked those who received the payout to donate away if they don’t need them? Why give them in the first place?
Any Tan, Ahmad or Muthu can make that decision if it does not require the use of grey matters between the two ears, right?
Did you scrutinise their plans when they submit heir proposals to draw from our hard-saved Reserves? Or you just rubber stamped because the PAP reserved he presidency for you and you just repay their kindness?
Will you set up a Committee of Inquiry to investigate the abuse of our hard-saved reserves to hold them accountable?
I am very sure you will not allow the PAP to increase the GST from current 7% To 9% after the coming GE after knowing how irresponsible the PAP is when using our hard-saved Reserves.
PLEASE DO NOT LET US DOWN AND BE RECORDED IN SINGAPORE HISTORY AS A PRESIDENT WHO APPROVED THE WASTAGE OF OUR HARD-SAVED RESERVES,

  • Do more more the hard hit:

Better to do more for the hard hit local SMEs…
Many will not survive with the lockdown and more jobs will be lost soon.
They are the one needing help badly .Some local directors are even working without pay for the last few months just to keep their staff going…especially for the underfund startups…Badly hit by the Covid crisis.

  • Importance to save jobs:

We should thank the government for their quick action and mindfulness of our workers’ jobs security first.
Because of the lockdown many businesses will be badly affected and if they start to trim costs, workers might lose their jobs.

As on August 2018 there are more than four hundred thousand registered businesses in Singapore.
So assuming 100 businesses don’t need the JSS support, it is just less than 1% of the total registered businesses.
Another problem at such a critical moment is, do we have time to survey all the businesses and make decisions? By then many workers would have already been retrenched.

    ……

What about those hawkers, they closed their business for two months already.

PAP only think about those big companies, some of them don’t even need any support.

Transports operators will be asking for fare increase soon, even before Covid-19 is contained.

If safe distancing still continues and hawkers centres still unable to open fully, just for take away, these hawkers would suffer even without pay for rent.

Hawkers center and market stalls holders have rental waivers under Annex B-6 rentals waivers for tenants in government-owned/manage non-residential facilities.
Besides the above they also can claim relief under JSS Tier 2 food services.
And besides, most of them can still carry on with their business.

  • Is Halimah doing her job ?:

Why just throw taxpayer money for every companies ? For heaven sake, please do not increase our fees and charges for water, electricity, parking etc..

It is not a big problem to check whether the companies is making money or not. Havn’t the PAP heard of Business Analytics ?

They can easily list out the top 500 companies from the database and check their Profit and Loss information (from the Tax department) and using Business Intelligence tools to seperate those that are losing money. They can decide how much to compennsate these money losing companies to prevent them from laying off staff. It may take approximately 3 days to get these information.

So what is the big issue ? Don’t take the easy way out because its public funds.
