Reform Party’s GE manifesto

We are facing an unprecedented global economic and health crisis the likes of which have not been seen in our lifetimes. This is a particular threat to Singapore’s ability to continue to prosper as we are already over-reliant on global trade and the Government’s economic model of over-saving and running huge Budget and current account surpluses.

While we do not criticise the relatively large and unprecedented amounts that the Government is spending in an effort to protect Singaporeans’ jobs and livelihoods, we believe that it is still not enough.

As we deal with this crisis we will need to build back Singapore and this is an opportunity to build back better and fairer.

Because of the severity of the economic crisis hundreds of thousands of ordinary hard-working Singaporeans face the risk of losing their jobs through no fault of their own.

Reform Party has long campaigned for a better deal for Singaporeans. In particular we want to replace the PAP deal of austerity for the ordinary Singaporean but opulent and in many cases secret salaries and riches for the PM and his wife, PAP Ministers and their spouses and their supporters.

Take the foreign worker dormitory operators as an example. Their excess profits have come at the expense of public safety. Their mistakes will be compensated out of the pockets of ordinary Singaporeans and not from the pay packets of our ministers.

It is vital that after this pandemic is over we build a better and fairer society for Singaporeans. If our true reserves are at least $1.5 trillion, as my investigations over ten years have led me to believe, then we can afford to spend perhaps 4% of that every year. The Norwegians do just that with the assets in their Pension Fund. That would mean an additional $60 billion of spending every year which is about what the Government is spending in this exceptional year on combating the economic effects of the pandemic.

Some of our specific policy proposals for the 2020 GE are:

Suspension of GST for this year and next and then a review with a view to eliminating it on certain essential categories of spending like food, utilities and medicines.

Unemployment benefit of up to six months based on 75% of last drawn salary with a cap of $2500 per month.

Seniors’ benefit for over 65s of $500 per month

Child benefit of $300 per child per month for those at or below 1.5 median incomes

Universal health care

Free university education for those who have served NS

Minimum wage of $10 per hour which will ensure more jobs go to Singaporeans and better wages for foreign workers

Employment pass minimum salary to be raised to at least $5,000 per month with a cap on total numbers. Additional tax for those who have not done NS.

These proposals will allow us to build a fairer and better society for all Singaporeans not just an elite few.

    1) It looks like our daughters won’t get free university education. Unless you are proposing that our daughters also get enslaved by NS like our sons?

    2) If I don’t want my sons to receive the free scholarship, can they be excused from NS?

    3) How may seats can RF win? 11? 12? With so few seats in Parliament, how can you assure us you can change the law? This means that your Manifesto is completely useless!

  • Can wake up or not?:

    Dear @Iam AI,

I must comment on your logical fallacy behind the questions you posed. Such irrationality only hampers the change we actually need.

First up, a manifesto is a promise on what they STRIVE to deliver if they are inside. It is not a guarantee.

Now to the core point. To get anything voted in Singapore as law, you will need a 2/3 majority to vote for it.

Right now, think about it. If you want RP(or anyone for the matter) to actually change the law, isn’t it bloody obvious like the clear blue sky that you need to give them the numbers to win (by clearing the house of white rubber stampers to make way for people like RP).

Your third question already shows that you are executing a self-fulfilling prophecy, whereby you believe RP to lose and thereby doubt their ability to get the votes WHEN IT IS A GROUP OF PPL LIKE YOU that chooses to make that belief a reality and actually vote against them. The ironic nature of human logic is mind boggling at times, why are you looking to them for assurance when it is actually from yourself

You want to make a change? Grow some courage and actually vote for them. Do your part to give them the basic tool and power to ACTUALLY have a fighting chance. And tell others like you to garner some courage and make change a reality. You all have no one to blame but yourself.

So like KJ has said long ago in essence, and to you (if you didnt vote for oppo), “I don’t want to hear anymore complains”.

How come that beast woman Han Hui Hui never come out to fight for “return our CPF” money this GE? Must have got a lot of corona virus $$$ attacking her? Wonder why beast woman Han Hui Hui previously publish two cheques think about $60,000 each on her Facebook for everybody to see. And the suspicious thing is – If those two cheques of about $60,000 each (Total about $120,000) given to her by some organisation belongs rightfully to her, why need to publish those two cheques out for people to see? Nobody is interested in her cheques. Or is those two cheques of about $60,000 each given to her as maybe “bribery” money to shut up her beast mouth ? This beast woman Han Hui Hui now change to fight for women rights? Pui! Pui! Pui!

Response : Singapore can afford to spend $100 billions during these few months easily. See, got so much money in reserves, yet still want to implement more GST. Something is very wrong with such mentality of the government!
