Arbitrary rules for self employed income relief

My friend is a used car dealer. His business has been bad last year. It became worse this year.

He applied for the self employed relief (I think it is call SIRS).

He was rejected.

He appealed and fought hard. He spent some time to fight his case. Finally, his appeal was successful.

He received $9,000 for 9 months. It was helpful.

Question – does it mean that those who do not know how to fight their case will lose out?

Why does PAP introduce this kind of scheme that is quite arbitrary and unfair to those who are not able to fight their case?
Is there an alternative?

Sure, there is.

I prefer that the government allows people in financial need to withdraw their CPF savings, or to take a loan from the government that needs to be paid back.

There is no need to create arbitrary rules and require people to fight their case according to these rules and to have administrator send a lot of time dealing with tens of thousand cases.

Do you agree?

  • What do we know & why not?:

Australia has approved for her citizens negatively affected by the pandemic to withdraw up to A$20,000 from their superannuation fund savings. We wonder how much there’s really left in our super opaque CPF pool for the elites.

Even sep who did not lose their jobs during the cb get the 9k. It sholud be for sep who lost income and job only. So I am puzzled and angry . This not the way pap does things . All other schemes you must prove you lost income or job to qualify including the temp relief fund of only 500$. This sirs is $9000 and no need to show loss of income. Some recipients even gloated they struck lottery and laughing to the bank. Can govt claw back money from these people and give to real poor instead

    @ Tan Kin Lian

YOUR MATE IS VERY LUCKY – he fought hard in appeal and won. The less “rigorous” sigina or Ah Seng unable to articulate his/her grounds will long give up.

For the articulate and very rigorous ones of challenge fightback in any matter dealing with bureaucracies in LEE-jiapore, DON’T BE SURPRISED AT ALL that your polite robust articulation met with the easiest response outcome available.

It is called SILENCE from the “natural aristocrats” and/or his/her top bureaucrats.

AND THE “OFFENDING” bureaucrats and/or natural aristocrat “lordship” in the LEE-jiapore kingdom (unlike Australia) knows THAT peasants DOES NOT HAVE THE PUBLIC OMBUDSMAN OFFICE appeal channel to reverse the ministerial “decision” of SILENCE.

    In LEE-jiapore, SILENCE IS “REPLY”.

    @ BEGGARS WITH CPF ACCOUNTS:

THE ANSWER TO YOUR RIDDLE IS VERY EASY, read my response below.

BEGGARS WITH CPF ACCOUNTS: Mr TKL

    Why must CPF members beg?
It’s truly their Blood-and-Sweat honest savings!

Why must CPF members become Beggars of their very own
    rightful savings?
    Is CPF ponzified?
Is CPF a Rob-Peter-Pay-Paul scheme or scam?

    How much is there left?

    Beats All…

The explanation is here – CPF is NO LONGER your money. It has long been “stolen” by ghost/ghosts unknown.

oxygen: Good example is CPF is your money. If that is so, how come these inexplicables?

    - withdrawal of “your” CPF to pay for public housing lease MUST PAY INTEREST on those amount.

    Ha ha ha.

DO YOU PAY YOURSELF INTEREST for money out of your paycheck to pay for your food and healthcare? Remember this – you are not your own debtor or creditor in that public housing transaction, how come you must pay interest when NOBODY IN THE WHOLE WORLD pay interest if he is NOT a debtor of any lender or worst still is the CREDITOR!! Does the bank pay you interest if it is the creditor and you the debtor?

A legal mind told Parliament that CPF is NOT your money BUT IT WAS NOT DENIED IN PARLIAMENT BY LAW-MAKERS INSIDE. You can’t tell lies in Parliament with immunity.

    I THINK SHE IS RIGHT.

CPF IS NOT MY MONEY, it can’t be withdrawn at 55 and even at 65 is subject to restrictions of ALL KINDS OF ARTIFICIAL ENCUMBRANCES.

In property law, you are owner if two conditions are satisfied

    - animus possidendi i.e. you are in possession

    - animus domini i.e. you have unfettered discretion of its use or disposal.

CPF IS WHAT YOU CAN SEE, BUT CANNOT TOUCH – just like my latest model cell phone on the table in a restaurant, you can’t just walk to my table and take it away as your property thereafter.

OTHERWISE WHAT IS CRIME CALLED THEFT of someone’s property not yours?

SO I CONCLUDE THAT CPF IS NOT MY MONEY OR PROPERTY, IT HAS LONG BEEN STOLEN by unknown ghost/ghosts against my will and consent. Suddenly I “owe” my retirement money to some THIEVING GHOST/GHOSTS.

  • Agreed:

Why need to fight so hard just to get so little support ?
Some cases working for 6 months without pay..only to get a miserable $500 support.
How to survive on $500 for 6 months?According to them you can …
Can’t even withdraw $1 from own CPF to help survive this crisis of a lifetime…
All the stupid SOP to reject you…no common sense and empathy.
No flexibility to help, must stick to rules.
No one walk alone ? Sure ? Where are they when you need them most?
You die your own business…can’t be help.Decided by the Policy maker.
Now want your Vote …For you ,with you…your job and your Future…

  • Sad but true.:

“There is no need to create arbitrary rules and require people to fight their case according to these rules and to have administrator send a lot of time dealing with so many cases.”
One such stupid rule is to use past family monthly household income as criteria for support when present household monthly income should be more relevant and appropiate .
No common sense and empathy..both from the Policy maker and the officers who blindly implementing it..causing unnecessary distress and suffering to many.

  • Crazy:

The $100B is also given to companies and people who don’t need it and reject those who need it desperately to survive…
Will stick to their stupid rule and let you die than support you when you need it most…
One stupid rule is to use past family monthly income as criteria for rejection when existing family income is more relevant and important.
That is the problem when people on top have no idea how the ordinary people live and suffer.

  • No one walk alone?:

Should review every support application and make sure no one really walk alone in this crisis of a lifetime.
Many got rejected and cause unnecessary suffering to them and family …

PAP…Fulfill this promise first and you will get a new mandate requested.
