Lucky people of Bukit Panjang

You lucky people of Bukit Panjang – Paul here is an infectious disease expert who has recently become the first Singaporean to have ever been appointed as the President-elect (2022) of the International Society of Infectious Diseases based in Massachusetts.

This COVID-19 pandemic has informed us that we urgently need someone with a rich knowledge in infectious disease, rather than too many former army Generals, to serve a country with diverse needs.

Paul is also an amazing person who cares deeply about improving the livelihoods of Singaporeans and believe that we deserve better rights as human beings.

What I really appreciate about him is the fact that he treats everyone as equals. As someone who “just teaches little children” (according to an NUS academic who discovered I wasn’t a law student in the middle of a conversation about the death penalty), every interaction with Paul never makes me feel like I am just a tiny little leftwing nut who “just teaches little children”.

In an unequal society, we don’t need more elitist snobs or paper Generals in Parliament. We need people who are not just intellectually progressive but who possess the right attitudes to make Singapore a better country to live in, and this is why I post this on my wall.

Please break the PAP majority by giving your vote to progressive and sensible people like Paul. We can no longer have a one party majority because it does not truly represent the diversity of our voices.

    Elect another Dalit into power??

That will bring even more bad luck to the people on top of the current pack of Dalits running in the gov and judicial system.

Get them out of the system, clean up the mess they already created, and take back the money they stole in the past…be wise.

  • Hope for Sg:

Prof Paul and SDP team, ALL THE BEST!

We need good people like you all to represent and speak up for ordinary folks who have been left in the lurks by an incompetent self serving regime.

Pap MPs mostly keep very quietly or dare not ask tough questions affecting our lives and livelihoods in parliament. They only ask token questions or visibly absent from the proceedings.

  • Trust only myself:

Yes, indeed why the voters in Bukit Panjang so lucky.

I can’t recall who was the MP in Bukit Panjang but should Paul be elected, I am sure people will remember his name for decades to come.

Why am I so sure? Easy, when people mention about the late JBJ, who don’t know he was first elected as MP in Anson by-election in 1981. Even the year also cannot forget, no need to search.

  • Dun Bluff Mi U Tink I 2pid?:

We have the best infectious disease expert within our shores who has been recently elected as President of ISID yet he was not called up to lead the Taskforce against Covid for obvious political reasons. The PAPpies are toying with our lives to further their political agenda. What 4G leaders, Kenneth Mak, Dale Fisher from the WHO, Leong Hoe Nam.. Look at what our country is doing with Covid now? It has taken a backseat with the GE now.

Look at Aljunied, men in white offer Texas chicken and kneel begging for votes.

Look at T.Pagar, men in white secretly insulted voters.

Voters, it’s your choice. You want free chicken or you want insult?

    Vote wisely.

Remember, the average money thrown out this time is $23,225 per person. If your household has 10 members, you should be getting $232,000.
If you have a household with 5 members, you should be getting $116,000.
    Ok?

Anything less, your household have been cheated. Even if you get $9,000 for yourself, you have been CHEATED.

Make your vote count. Count properly.

  • Plans can always change:

Straits Times: No plans to increase population to 10 million: Government

Singapore voters must NOT believe the above for two reasons.

    (1) Plans can always change.

    (2) Population needs to go up to increase the consumption component of GDP. It is also needed to keep wages down so Singapore remains a cheap place for foreign investors to do business. Remember LKY (and PAP) grew GDP with a low wage policy.

Apparently the govt during GE becomes caring and giving almost without asking! And it suddenly acknowledges anything you say as though a good listener by presto! Hence, Singapore should have more regular GE instead of once within 5 years so the more GEs the more the govt wakes up to the populace! Don’t need the rubber stamp Parliament as the govt dares not force policies down our throats eg the Useless Presidency, etc….

  • No plan, oh, no plan:

“No plan” does not mean it is not going to happen.

PAP had “no plan” for 5.5 million. They simply open the gate and let it happen. Since “no plan”, trains break down, not enough hospital, everything a mess.

So, currently, “no plan” for 10 million population. It may just happen by itself, unplanned with gates all open.

  • Hu Chian:

    Quote,
“In his writings his “The Politics”, Aristotle states that “Man is by nature a political
animal”(The Politics, 1) in another words, it lies deep within the
instinct of man. It is almost primal. Due to his nature man should
consider and realise his role within the “polis”. So according to
Aristotle Politics is not a dreamt up concept, but rather an inherent
    feature of mankind.

To begin with, the basest premise that underpins the notion of politics
should be considered in order to arrive at a fair definition. Man is
self-preserving by nature. He thinks and acts, whether that is as an
individual or as a group who share interests, with foremost regard to
his own interests. Self-perpetuation is the number one rule. He
therefore possesses his own interests, ideas and preferences, which may
differ to those of his contemporaries…………..

Politics consider this view of man, in that on meeting others whose
interests oppose his own, conflict is bound to occur. What could be the
cause of this conflict in interest? The world has its limits; all
material wealth within it is exhaustible. Who therefore, gets how large
a share, of those resources, which are present on the earth in limited
supply? If man were permitted to act on and pursue his own selfish
interests, snatching that, which he desires, a society would quickly
become under rule of violence. Politics is a way of combating the
degradation of society into a violent and unstructured mess by reducing
it to be governed by the primitive instincts of man in order to resolve
conflict. Leftwich states in his essay entitled “Politics: people,
resources and power” from his book “What is Politics?”

“…politics compromises all the activities of co-operation and
conflict, within and between societies, whereby the human species goes
about organising the use, production and distribution of human, natural
and other resources in the production and reproduction of its biological
and social life.” (Leftwich, 1984, p.64-65)
    …………………………………………………
Going back to the premise that man is at heart a selfish
creature, it must be true that even those in power are immune to the
effects of pursuing their own goals to a certain extent. Politics could
therefore be defined as a power struggle between those in influential
positions. Power can only be obtained by obtaining the support from as
many groups and individuals as possible. This can be achieved by
providing tempting solutions to conflicts that already exist in a
society, whether this be in a honest or dishonest way. By appealing to
members of a society with solutions to their problems and promises to
act in their interests, a group or individual can gain support and
ultimately authority over other groups and individuals. Politics could
thus be defined as a calculating art of power gain or power retention or
    more simply as power struggle.”

  • Realistically:

The only problem is that Prof Tambyah belongs to the WRONG party…..

I read that he is saying that the emperor without clothes regime need not raise taxes to fund the SDP proposal of spending more……..that the source of funds should come from the returns of our reserves.

What Prof Tambyah proposed is NOT the original idea from the SDP……….instead it is THEFT of my suggestion made at the dialogue session with Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan’s in January 2008…………which I had disclosed on TRE………..which meant that the SDP must hv STOLEN my idea.

If it was originally from the SDP, why did the SDP not saying this in the 2011, 2015 GE and the 2016 by-election at Bukit Batok SMC where Chee had contested and winning only 38.8% of the votes?

At the launch of the SDP GE campaign in February 2019, I had asked Prof Tambyah how the SDP’s programme was to be funded. The prof handed the microphone to Chee who, characteristically avoided the issue by saying the money could come from increased productivity without saying what kind of productivity he was talking about and how much such productivity would yield the kind of returns to fund the SDP’s populist policy which would lead us to countries like Zimbabwe or Venezuala.
