GE2020: A robust & balanced Parliament is good for Singapore

The PAP has been given so many mandates but is still unable to solve the many pertinent issues or address the many unresolved grievances that are plaguing Singapore. In fact, things have gone from bad to worse.

Take the Covid pandemic as an example. Either badly advised or due to poor planning in Emergency Preparedness, even PM Lee was mocked for initially asking Singaporeans not to wear a mask if they are well.

Vietnam, a developing ASEAN economy with a much larger population and tourism sector, has shown better leadership in the containment of the pandemic.

As a result, their GDP grew by 0.36% in the second quarter of 2020, and is now aiming for a 5% growth for 2020 despite being engaged in a fierce tit-for-tat tariffs war with China.

Singapore, a developed economy, on the other hand, reported a drop of 2.2% for Q1 and is expected to fall by 4% to 7% for 2020, making this the worst economic decline since our independence.

The PAP’s poor containment of the pandemic is costing us serious economic and financial losses, and that sadly includes employment too.

For the first time in our socio-economic history, many of our young graduates are graduating into unemployment. More older Singaporeans will find it harder to stay employed, enterprise to put food on the table or pay their housing mortgages.

The PAP was forced to dig into our reserve to keep our economy stay afloat. A large part of the monies is alleged to have gone into keeping our GLCs and their related entities afloat.

To be fair to all Singaporeans, an Expenditure Statement that shows at least the top 30% beneficiaries should have been provided before GE2020 so that we can see where and how our reserve is been utilized.

It is absurd that PAP candidates are asking residents during their election walkabouts “have you received the money that we (PAP) have given out”. Guess money politics, or rather our money, is being used to pervert GE2020. Is this desirable?

These Hard Truths should be part of the key topics in GE2020, and as such, face-to-face exchanges during election walkabouts should be on how we can save and unite Singapore.

Now that parliament has been dissolved and everything in Singapore remains functional, Singaporeans can witness for themselves vividly that we can function without the PAP.

The fear-mongering that Singapore needs the PAP is just old political propaganda to strike fear in gullible Singaporeans. It is unpatriotic of the PAP to use fear to propagate their party politics instead of caring about the future and well-being of Singaporeans.

Why should anyone be kept fearing the dark when we can open our eyes to see, ears to hear and the mind to think and dispel such lies?

To save Singapore from falling deeper into despair, Singaporeans must wake up to these harsh realities and acknowledge that political change in Singapore is inevitable, and can do much good for us as a nation.

A more Robust & Balanced Parliament is clearly good for Singapore.

To make sure that every parliamentarian that is voted into parliament actually puts their “heart & soul” into formulating, reviewing and implementing new policies, we need to vote in candidates from alternative parties.

To make sure that our parliament takes Singaporeans more seriously, that MPs work for their full term instead of just appearing during election time and to help unite the growing divide among Singaporeans, we all need to vote for more candidates from alternative parties.

The “propaganda” by the PAP that Singapore risks a freak election is baseless. If more candidates from alternative parties are voted into parliament, it simply means that the PAP cannot party anymore but must now work hard for Singaporeans.

In short, either the PAP do not want to work hard or that they do not want to be servants but masters of Singaporeans. Is this what we want?

Singaporeans, new or otherwise must all wise up as we are all in the same boat. Why pay millions to the boatmen from PAP if they are lazy, do not want to clean or row the boat for us, are rude and arrogant and always sarcastic towards us?

Do we want to be migrants all over again or see Singapore reduced to a place that is worse than where our fore-parents came from?

So lets wise up at GE2020 by voting for a more Robust & Balanced Parliament if you still believe Singaporeans deserve better…

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits Times: Singapore GE2020: I did not say Singapore should plan to increase its population to 10 million, says Heng Swee Keat

Unconvincing statement from HSK. He may not have said it. But he can still say it later after the elections.

In fact, PAP can decide to increase the population to 10 without announcing it. Singaporeans will not know. Remember during the GE2011 campaign Woody Goh said that PM LHL decided to allow a massive influx of foreign workers without announcing it (likely because he knew he was “screwing” Singaporeans; NTUC and then Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say also said nothing). As a result, Singaporeans PMETS started losing their job.

To settle the issue HSK should say NOW – “I do NOT support increasing the population to 10 million or even 7 million now or over the next twenty years.”

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits times: Singapore GE2020: Nee Soon GRC was never up for ‘horse-trading’, says PSP to Shanmugam

A red-herring from “Shame-mugam”. Nothing wrong with “horse-trading” in politics as long as the candidates are committed to serving all Singaporeans.

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits Times: Singapore GE2020: PAP will not have ‘blank cheque’ because of NCMP scheme, say Chan Chun Sing and Indranee

Fake news from PAP. NCMPs are basically useless because they CANNOT VOTE on the following important things:
    - Amendments to the Constitution.
    - Any motion to amend a supply bill, supplementary supply bill or final supply bill
    - Any motion pertaining to a Bill to amend a money bill.[24]
    - A motion of no confidence in the Government.
    - Removal of the President from office.

The NCMP Scheme is “manufactured opposition”. It is only for show. It is basically useless and definitely laughable.

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits times: Singapore GE2020: Tan Cheng Bock will not take up NCMP seat if offered, calls scheme a ploy not to vote opposition

Singapore voters should only believe the promises of people they can trust. Only people who are OPEN AND TRANSPARENT can be trusted. It is that simple.

Hahaha, coffee boy said no target population at all.

So any figure like 1m, 2m, 6.9m 9.9m,10m is considered falsehood.

WTF, then how do these chaps do planning for the future? Agak, agak, is it?

  • Dun Bluff Mi U Tink I 2pid?:

The pappies have clearly failed in their latest task – Covid.

Having all the mandates from the first election till now, having all the resources at their disposal, having all the medical expertise to advise them (but didn’t ask infectious disease expert SDP Paul Tambyah to lead), we are still having few hundred of cases daily.

They still dare to demand a stronger mandate to bring SG out of Covid and into the future? Stop gambling with our lives! They still have a cheek to call for GE during this pandemic!

Balaboy is a s*ake. They had so many occasions to clarify about the 10m population and he kept is freaking mouth shut. This question has been asked in public for such a long time. Just so that he can spring this kind of surprises which is pointless because he is just trying to score political points on tv. Like I said, so long he doesn’t want to open his mouth to clarify then blame people for falsehoods when speculations are raised.
He clearly sold his soul for money. Maybe his alma mater taught him this kind of thing.
CSJ clearly more gentleman but unfortunately bitten by a s*ake this time. So long hasn’t been delivering performance until he has to hide in BukitHol where the rich live.

You or me speak carries no weight. When the former ex-chief of URA and also a town planner Liu Thai Ker speaks, it carries weight.
HSK cited Liu Thai Ker 10 million population is sustainable in the long run. He did not correct Liu Thai Ker. So SDP said 10 million population is wrong??

  • John Richards:

This time the PAP does not talk about giving the 4G leaders a strong mandate. They focus on talking about a strong mandate to prepare for post Covid-19 Singapore. The 2G and 3G leaders asked for a strong mandate for their leadership in past elections.

Could it be the PAP knows that the 4G leaders are weak and just can’t hold a candle to the likes of Dr Chee, Paul Thambyah, Lim Tean, Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Pritam Singh, Slyvia Lim, James Gomes, Tan Cheng Bok, Brad Bowyer, Benjamin Pwee … I could add more but you get the picture.

Bottom line, there are leaders, followers and then there are administrators. The PAP 4G is full of administrators.

Next time, PAP candidates ask you this question whether you receive the bribe money , please return this answer: “What talking you ? It is our money anyway taken from us the taxpayer. Now have you receive your ridiculous salary every month taken from taxpayer? And if so, why are you not doing the work for citizens, and instead make use of us to enrich you, your party and cronies ?

Stupid sheep think the opposition will be here forever – just waiting to serve them when things are not going well.

The time is almost upon us when opposition will either lose heart, get disgusted and leave or just be unable to say or do anyhting after more laws come out.

This GE is surely our last. If the sheep want to be sold as mutton that is their choice.
