National Conversation

Does the Government need to hold a national conversation to know what the people want?

Will the participants be speaking honestly or will they seek to be politically correct, knowing that the press and television are watching.

Stories of powerful leaders disguised as common men to understand how the masses feel is not uncommon, precisely because that’s when they can get an honest feel of the ground, not on a choreographed national conversation.

The people who have the most influence on the Government are the very very rich and Big Business, not the common man.

Many policies are tailored to their needs, including the non-existence of capital gains tax and inheritance tax, lax immigration for foreign workers to suppress wages, an ever increasing population, generous bailouts for Big Business, etc.

Not surprisingly, there will not be a national conversation with the very very rich and Big Business, that’s because they already preoccupy the government’s agenda and policies are crafted to their interest.
On the other hand, interests that are often neglected, they feature prominently in the national conversations.
Is the government suddenly changing its attitude and putting more emphasis on the interest of the common man? I hope so, but I am not hopeful.

I am reminded of Big Business and social responsibility. The overriding concern of Big Business is profit maximization. However, they have to project a caring image and occasionally will undertake some socially responsible projects, like donate money to charity, clean the beaches etc, especially when the cameras are watching. In other words, it is just a show in case the public becomes aroused of their true intentions.

Singaporeans must know by now that such ‘conversation’ is just a PR of the PAP.
In PAP book, it records as proof as the PAP did talk to the people.

Many years, decades actually, I sat in such conversation with a PAP MP.
As a matter of fact I was asked to attend the session to fill up the empty chairs.

I suspect that people who attend these conversation gatherings were asked to go.
Won’t be surprise if questions were provided for the attendees to raise during the ‘conversation’.

PA just like gathering people to attend PAP election rallies is probably doing the same for these conversation meetings.

Why PAP still believe Singaporeans don’t know the truth.

    So sad.

  • The Rich Are Not Affected:

The rich in Singapore are not affected by the Covid 19 pandemic . The recent launch of the property at Sims Drive by the Hong Leong Group have sold 60 per cent of the property. These people who buy the property are the rich who are not affected at all by the pandemic and do not care at all for the rest of the Singaporean population.

Indeed Singapore is divided between the rich and the poor who have to worry about putting food on the table. What are you going to do about it PAP ?

Pretend to conversation as if SGrean are dumb? Yes indeed we are! Cheat me once, shame on you; Cheat me twice, shame on me.

Such conversation is to self-hypnotize that ownselves getting consensus from ownselves or to show case the skill of ownselves convincing ownselves?

Wastes time, resources and money for a big show case? Yes we all love such a drama, just like we love watching mediacorpse cheapskate drama which still live in the 80/90s, don’t we?

It is a sad reality that the voices of big business count for more than that of the masses.

We can only hope that the G will realise that the aspirations of the simple people are very important and to try to gear policies to fill these aspirations.

If the PAP G has not learnt that the loss of Sengkang GRC can and will lead to more losses, they will continue to do the same things again.

An example; today, there was an announcement of increase in payouts, benefits and also premiums for the Medishield scheme. This is after the GE.

I am not a financial person and thus hope some financial wizard will post information that is easily digestible.

It would be good to know how Medishield has fared all these years. Do we have the figures for the payouts and premiuns collected?

  • Do not waste time:

Singaporeans should not waste their time having “conversation” with PAP. I have lost count on the number of such conversations. It is the sual PAP PR exercise.

The only productive “conversation” with PAP is in Parliament with Opposition MPs asking tough questions and demanding answers. PAP ignores such question from Singaporeans. The more Opposition MPs there are in Parliament the more pressure on PAP to have a useful “conversation”.

Remember the National Conversation when PAP lost Aljunied? Talk talk talk end up do jack shit. This will be the same stupid wayang.

No need for any conversation one lah, we have already mentioned the problem so many times liao but nothing has ever been done. We ask for less aliens on the island and the population keeps going up year after year.

Oh well. When the goondu asked for a strong mandate we gave him the opposite and kicked out 4 monkeys instead. 2 can play that game!

we all know it is just wayang. At the end of the day, money talks and the policies, and the government of the day, favors the rich or rich elites who dominates real estates, medical, justice and businesses.

If you allow money to dictate, or validate, all those profession you are in effect corrupting societies or everyone who is party to it.

If so, there is no further discussion(wayang) needed and anything beyond/ challenging the framework of mammon may invoke arrest or reformed in IMH.

Same everywhere. Most govts and the rich work together. Sometimes the govt and the rich are the same persons.

  • liew mun leong must be jailed:

no pap person has ever asked any of us.

even if they asked, and we told them the truth, what we said would not have any impact because it is either filtered when reported upwards or just deleted.

1, that liew mun leong must be jailed is a given. if maid is 2 years and 2 months, liew mun leong must be 2 years and 2 months no less. twice if the bullying tactics are considered. and thrice if a message is to be sent to those with S$m not to do what liew mun leong has done.

2, the 2 prosecutors who assisted liew mun leong in fixing the maid must be jailed too. 2 years and 2 months. the same measurement. because it cannot be an honest error. one of them is the daughter of a liew mun leong kaki. go figure.
