Singapore to import electricity from Malaysia

Singapore to import 100 megawatts of electricity from Malaysia in a 2 year trial.

I read that piece of news during my lunch break and I was so, so surprised and I believe that I am not alone.

In 2008, the PAP government sold away our 3 major power generation plants namely, the Tuas Power, the Power Seraya and the Senoko Power to China’s Huaneng Group, Malaysia’s YTL Power and Japan’s Marubeni consortium respectively and now, we will be importing electricity from Malaysia! Wow!

I believe that those Chinese, Malaysian and the Japanese buyers must have laughed, sang and danced all their way to the bank about doing business with the LHL government that is so super clever, so capable and so outstanding at selling away ‘peh kong giap’.

Under the useless son’s government, Singapore had no qualm to sell away such strategic infrastructures that until today, I believe that decision has never been properly explained to the people or accounted for in Parliament and now, I repeat, we will be buying electricity from Malaysia! Hahaha…

Before I scold or curse the PAP government anymore, I hope that Chan Chun Sing being the Trade and Industry Minister can finally explain properly to Singaporeans the reasons for selling away our power plants back then and now, starting to buy electricity from Malaysia, clearly and convincingly.

Chan CS and his ministerial colleagues must realise that although most of our citizens aren’t interested in such issues, still, not all our citizens are uninterested, blind and unthinking suckerporeans.

Think.

  • Both water and electricity plants are strategic structures that any, if not all, countries in the world would NEVER sell to an outside third party, but surprisingly this party deems it not necessary to hold on to it. What if the companies that bought it are funded or related to terrorist organizations?

I, therefore, find it strange that they sold both the power and water plants off because the island city is supposedly filthy rich with HUNDREDS of BILLIONS in reserves, no? Certainly, it makes no logical sense to sell these important structures off since the island city is supposedly so loaded, right?

At the rate that they are going, I won’t be surprised at all if one fine day they decides to sell Changi Airport, Sentosa, Tekong, St John and Telecoms off too. lol

  • Taleban:

Electricity price is going down. We are getting cheaper electricity from Malaysia.
A little bird told me we have an oversupply situation in Singapore. The combined power generated by the 3 power stations are more than demand.
Economic theory and rules does not apply to Singapore.
When supply is more than demand, the price should goes down but in Singapore
    its goes up.
    Incredible Singapore.

  • Tremendous:

No point having a strong army when villagers are at the beck and call of foreign powers supplying strategic assets. Don’t b*t*h if foreign parties interfere in village politics since village chiefs hand over controls like these assets to them.

  • We need to unlearn economics:

In economics I learnt in school, countries dont sell infrastructure like electrical infrastructure, water etc from security point of view. Even if it is loss making in maintaining them. But our countries make me feel that it is now the new ‘economics theory’.

We were encouraged to invest into Hyflux, strategic structures. We retirees invested our life savings in it….and lost all our savings, PUB has it free. Gov not involved claiming it is a commerical business..

PAPIGS should sell the Istana and rent back from the Malaysia.
That way, saves millions of tax dollars in maintenance and also that USELESS Halimah can also go back to her HDB flat.

Do you think they will sell off HDB estates?

Oh, wait. They already did. Town councils are basically run by “private” companies. Not enough profit? Just raise fees lah.
