Bossy PAP MacPherson Grassroots Volunteer

It came to my attention through friends and fellow congregants of 2 post relating to my seeking from PAP MacPherson branch, 1 from Ms “J Ten” [LINK] and another from Ms Tin [LINK]. Both are great women, passionate about assisting others and this can sometimes bring about miscommunication and misinterpretation of the other’s intent, worsened by third party grassroots involvement. I additionally, did not write to nor communicated with either yours or other blogs regarding this particular incident.

However, the focus is on the clarification made by Ms Tin which I felt, hypes her assistance but made no mention of the failures behind them. This was precisely the reason “Ms J Ten” accompanied me to explain the issues clearer to the grassroots being a double masters student herself.

In her post, Ms Tin mentions I was known to her since 2011 when she took over from the previous MP and inherited loads of unresolved issues of MacPhersonians. My son and I would head to her MPS not merely to seek assistance but to also appeal to various government agencies on policy matters as this cripples Ms Tin’s ability to help anyone when the government refuses to listen to her or the people. I launch appeals with the intent of benefiting all Singaporeans in mind and this is known to Ms Tin and her team. While I did obtain $80 NTUC vouchers from her CCC fund twice annually, I seldom appeal for FA from SSO Geylang Serai as they consider anyone earning $1000 or above to be “high income earners” and it will be virtually impossible to obtain anything from them. Mr Gilbert Goh who is active in MacPherson had highlighted my predicament and this was never disputed by Ms Tin or the SSO.

In August after the election, MacPherson CC obtained approval to utilise PA funds to change my rusty rubbish chute, a matter I had feedback since May 2019 before my hospitalization of 3 months. The issue arose due to an uncooperative resident living above our units, pouring loads of water thrice daily down the chute which caused corrosion and leakage. This is also experienced by my neighbours but I am more vocal than they are, hence I deduce it would be better political milage for them to change my chute than to have a whole row of them replaced. My late husband and I also rarely receive financial aid from either “SECDC” or SSO Geylang Serai, only once or twice when I was hospitalized last year and exhausted my 60 day leave limit. I still have a letter of my late husband from a Ms Kua Mei Yin of SECDC, rejecting Mr Matthias Yao’s request for FA when my husband was suffering from kidney failure, liver disease and heart troubles. It was my son who obtained FA from them ranging from $100-$400 when he had a traffic accident and produced medical certification from CGH. We have never approached any other organisations.

This year during circuit breaker, I faced the possibility of work termination and was extremely anxious. I thus, emailed Ms Tin and she wrote to SSO and the Agency for Integrated Care. Needless to mention, SSO immediately rejected her appeal but AIC delivered some groceries. My further correspondence with Ms Tin did not yield a reply and Mr Gilbert Goh/Ms Mandy who were privy to this then took over care of myself during the circuit breaker period.

While TTSH did render MediFund to myself, I am unable to utilise it at other institutions like SingHealth as they do not recognise the verification of Medical Social Workers not belonging to their field. This was 1 of the changes I had sought through Ms Tin since 2012, the centralization of MediFund for the benefit of the elderly. I do not have further follow-up appointment at TTSH but am still receiving ongoing treatment for other chronic ailment at SGH and Polyclinic. I have never obtained any anything from Ms Tin’s MacPherson Care Fund.

I continue to call for Ms Tin to fight for better employment of elderly like myself as the “re-employment” legislation is pretty toothless. Elderly who reach 62 are still at risk of termination without retrenchment benefits and I have still not heard anything concrete from the Tripartite Alliance Ltd to address this.

Finally, the account provided by “CY” against “Ms J Ten” contain inaccuracies and I will leave it to “Ms J Ten” if she wishes to dispute “CY’s” account with photographs. What I witness that is particularly troubling from this incident is: “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes” as I noticed “CY’s” audacity to disparage another Indian elderly who had backed “Ms J Ten’s” feedback. He is not here to defend himself and is probably unaware that an allegation had been levelled against him. I hope the grassroots who receive vast benefits from PA will stop being little emperors and empresses in between the people and their MP, deciding who gets to see their representative and who doesn’t.

    Anyway its clear that the PAP mp chose to believe every word from her volunteer because she works hard, loyal & sleep only a few hours.

    She’s on solid ground.
    Just look at how many votes she got last time.
    Of course she can shout loud loud & insists she’s right & you’re wrong.

    These PAPi already formed a degrading judgment on the woman before they even hear her out. Unlike someone who really have the heart to help the residents like from the Worker’s Party or any caring doctors, every case, every visit to them is a new case, no matter they come for the zillion times. It is this opinion that I say these PAPi lots serve not really for the residents but for the show of the PAP.

    Not one but at least many residents call-out that the volunteer was Bossy. Not surprising as that’s the PAPi you voted for and erection is just over. They don’t need you now.

    For the above reasons, I don’t think TPL is serious enough with serving its resident.

    BTW talking loud is not shouting. Only Bossy volunteers would want to perceive it as shouting as they wanted to be hailed instead.

  • Ms Ten should not bother to respond if she cannot produce independent fellow peasants to verify or photos to prove what exactly happened.

    Always remember “官字2个口”, even though Grasslooters are so very low in the food chain (slightly higher than peasants), but their “back mountain aka owner aka aristocrat” is significantly higher wor.

    INHO, as long as Ms Ten is sure and her conscience is clear, she should just let it be since she has already said her piece.

    There is also a saying, “人在做天在看”. I used to not believe in Karma but after my recent stroke, I am now a believer. The stroke must be the ‘sky’ punishing me for not supporting the “lightning party” and instead chooses to helping TRE instead. lol

    Why do the gov bodies need so many appeal letters from MPs? Why?

    Can’t the gov bodies function effectively? We need a real revamp of these gov bodies. Although there is suspicion that the system is designed like this, so as to make MPs look important and helpful, to make people grateful and good voters.

    Some simple folks are thankful for the little help, not knowing how much more they really deserved, or that the gov is the cause of their low pay.

    If anyone has gone to any pap’s MPS before and is observant enough, it’s not difficult to see how arrogant the volunteers are. Not all but majority have that typical yaya PAPaya attitude.

    It’s obvious why the volunteers behaved the way they did as shown in this case by TamPon Ling. The pap volunteers know they’ve the backing of their White masters. All they need to do is bootlick their masters, gain their trust and ….. see? Whatever they say is the truth. Whatever they do will not be wrong.

    Tell our SPF, next time don’t need to spend too much time doing thorough investigations. Learn from TamPon Ling how she closed case so fast and cleared her volunteer of any wrongdoing by just asking all her kaki lang for an account of what happened. Ownself protect ownself like what their LEEder did in parliament.

    Seem there is not much help from the MPS…a disappointment.
    More like a formality and show of action…with very little real result.
    Not much effect as each agency still tends to go by the standard rules and policy…also each agency is good in pushing responsibility to other agencies.
    No one at each level bother to do any thinking or make right judgement for non standard case…seem more interested to take easy option and no real intention to understand and provide meaningful help Citizen in need,especially those that fall between the cracks or support schemes.

    PAPpy Grassroot arrogant and bully? I had seen them in action, they are the usual self, many of them are like that. When you go to the MPS, you can see their arrogance and the way they talk very condescending.

    PAPPY was nicer in the earlier years.. now? They work according to the season. If GE is near, they suddenly become very helpful and many things can be approved. Now just one year after GE, you will not get much help from PAPPY.

    The way the structure subsidies and help is becoming seasonal, they only give you help when they think they will get something back in return ie your vote.

    You not happy? Remember they won 61%.

    I recall the collection of hand sanitizer even worse. Some of the Bukit Timah CC people are very jumpy and aggressive if you do not keep to the marked spots or areas in the queue. That is even when there is no queue…fella insisted I walk though the labyrinth. I pointed out and fuffled a few gentlements’ feathers.

    Just shows that a lot are unthinking, obey instruction types.

    Well Mdm Tan, ANYBODY can be terminated without any reason in Spore. Most employment contracts have this clasue: The company reserves the right to terminate employment without giving any reason. You can write to MP, go MOM, go to all relevant agencies and still not get any help. Because it’s legal to fire someone just like that. Best course of action is to look for another job.

    The more “BOSSY” the grass-loot volunteer is, the more embracing of silent thankful endorsement (behind the “winching” grumpy peasant’s back of course). The grasslooter is the MPs shock absorber and protective glass cover (as if transparent of real assistance in pretended solution finding).

    The more incompetent the MP is, the more he/she needs for more BOSSY grasslooter volunteers.

    IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE MY LOGIC, just ask for the MP’s email address write to him/her directly – two things will happen, either your requisition for assistance yield no reply or the grasslooter volunteer might intercept your approach to MP on the next Meet-the-People session (if MP keeps silent to your email requests for assistance).

    REMEMBER YOU ARE ONLY ONE VOTE ONLY- MPs knows that. So peasants remember this – if your MP is incompetent or collect-pay only type, spread the words by mouth and caste a protest vote.

    Need to improve our Social Policy…
    Make it easier and simpler to get get help when needed.
    Every case should be decide on it own merit as rules cannot cover all cases.
    Need to give the officer in charge some flexibility to make exception when warranted.

    The high need to go to MPS for appeal is a reflection of inadequacy of our Social Policy.
