The stupidity of Ministers in the Covid-19 Task Force

I am angry at the stupidity of our ministers in the covid task force.

They complain that the worker did not see a doctor when sick. [LINK]

Surely, the government should set up special clinic to provide free testing for covid for people with symptoms. The clinic does not provide any treatment.

If the special clinic is provided and are available at convenient locations, there is no need for any worker to hesitate to be tested.

The cost of running the special clinic is small, compared to the tens of millions that are spent on safe entry and workplace precautions.

When will our ministers use their judgment and common sense?

My crystal ball CB said – Yeah, boss. The ministers are insane!

  • No Excuse:

It has been one year into the pandemic. By this time there should have been testing stations set up at most polyclinics and hospitals for people to walk in and get tested for Covid-19. The same for vaccination. There should be a website for people to register online and schedule for an appointment. SG is a small island city which should make implementation of testing and vaccination relatively easier than big countries like China, USA, India and Indonesia.

These clowns think that NATION-WIDE TESTING is a waste of money but have no qualms $quandering $100 BILLION away.

How much will it cost to test whole nation?
Probably a small fraction of the $100 Billion.

This is definitely a calculative govt when it comes to own sgs but throw our hardearned reserves on non-sgs like flushing waste down the chutes!

    Sack these daft scholar$$$!

When they are so rich for so long, they forget some poor people may not have enough resources to see a doctor. This is happening to many big countries and therefore it is very hard for these countries to eradicate the virus totally. Whoever started this virus is worse than Hitler.

Btw, this vaccine so claimed is free is actually paid for by taxpayers. So don’t TKSS scoring brownie points.

  • China Greater again:

No worry, Singapore will become better. China already invent good vaccine for cure covid 19. They got little case of covid 19 because of their good vaccine and success handle covid 19. Singapore already buy China’s vaccine so when arrive, Singapore will also got little case of covid 19 same like China. Singapore ministers already get China vaccine and they all say very good.

The market rate for a C19 test in China is RMB100, about SGD20. So if we take the amount without discount, it would cost about $20 x 6 million = $120 million to test everyone in Sinkieland, significantly lower than the $100 billion you mentioned had been spent on nothing effective or conclusive. Double the amount to take into account the logistics and it would still fall way short of the $100 billion.

Nowadays China’s policy on C19 sibei tokong one, if any confirmed local cases are detected, they immediately quarantine an entire estate or town and test everyone in the town/city where the estate is located in. Their well-trained and experienced Grassroots (社区) would then make all the necessary arrangements for the quarantined estate to be supplied with food and necessities from registered suppliers. The affected residents are mostly very cooperative and have full trust in these organizations, so no cry father or cry mother one. You will be surprised as to how dedicated the volunteers at these Grassroots are, ever so willing to accommodate and assist the affected residents.

During the early pandemic, the village where I lived had a neighbour whose father was warded in the town’s hospital for stroke, about 8km away. Before the lockdown, he had to travel to town everyday to deliver lunch and dinner but because of the lockdown, he was unable to do so. What eventually happened was that the situation was reflected to the town’s government and they made arrangement for the daily delivery of food to the father. (Unlike hospitals in Sinkieland, food is NOT provided by teh hospital and had to be sourced from either its canteen or outside eateries. So if one is hospitalized for say fractures to both legs and without some family members accompanying daily, one would literally starve to death unless some kind nurse (they are not obligated to find/buy food for patients) is willing to help you order food.

Another interesting observation or rather encounter I had when I was warded at the hospital was that one had to buy his/her own urination bowl (尿壶), the hospital DO NOT supply them at all. I realised this when I underwent angiography and had to remain in bed for more than 24 hours, cannot leave the bed at all or the artery would burst and bleed. I had to do everything in bed and my wife had to visit the provision shop below to buy one because the hospital DO NOT supply them. lol

Anyway, during this quarantine period, no one leaves the town/city and no one enters without permission. It can be said that due to their experience during the C19 pandemic, their various agencies are so damned experienced now that everything just automatically happens like clockwork, no need for them to wait for instructions from the TOP level of government.

This IMHO, although costly but is a very effective strategy in weeding out both the symptomatic and asymptomatic cases and nib it in the bud, not allow the C19 virus any chance to find a new hunting ground.

China has tested time and time again millions of its residents within days and had Sinkieland done the same, they would have weeded out every C19 virus on the island and Sinkies would be enjoying Halloween, Xmas, New Year and CNY like the residents in China, without compulsory masks and distancing measures.

Had I been in charge, I certainly would not have hesitated to test everyone on the island. I am sure you and many others felt the same way.

So the million-dollar question is: Why is the party so reluctant to do a mass-testing of a handful of 6 million residents (the size of a town in China) on the island?

Being the party that it is, I can only think of 1 reason, which is MONEY. The party would stand to gain more from Sinkieland being under the constant threat of C19 than it would have if the island had been cleared of the C19.

Hint: Most of the supposed $100 billions were mostly ‘spent’ from the right hand to the left hand, no?

    What do you think?

Which ‘$100b’ are we talking about ?
The ‘$100b’ the chiefs claimed they used for disease treatment or the ‘$100b’ they lost over the years in sovereign investments (therefore run dry to set up more robust health facilities) ?

    @TRE Techie:

Despite the good work you mentioned about China’s efficiency in fighting the pandemic which I don’t disagree (their small cities got populations bigger than Singapore), I still have many PRC new citizens heaping praises on the Singapore govt in their wechat about how efficient they were in controlling the spread, until the dorm workers cases started to shoot up like rockets! The irritating part about the praises was “Your govt give money, very good you know! China govt where got give money?”

I fucked them straight, saying “Give money means they very good. That’s the only thing you all new citizens know! If all new citizens are so money-faced like you all, received money and start praising the govt despite obvious failures, then Singapore’s future will be gone!”

    Very interesting observation by you.

If the CCP administration is effective in dealing with the virus, they will be effective in dealing with other issues affecting the country.

Your observation suggests that they are truly a force to be reckoned with, calling them “Cheena”, looking at them with tinted glasses, judging them using Caucasian perspectives will only ended up with wrong conclusion and miss the targets!

  • @Zhenzidan and Nurul Isathey

There are no perfect political systems in the world. What matters to peasants like us, are that we are adequately taken care of and in this aspect, it is my observation (having spent more than a decade in China) that the Chinese party have done a much better job than the party in Sinkieland and Chairman Xi is paid only about 20% of what the LEEder in Sinkieland draws.

There are of course some policies that are debatable, but generally, peasants’ lives have improved under the leadership of Chairman Xi. China is clearly growing by leaps and bounds, which is why the idiotic Trump was trying so hard to contain it. Given time, China will be a force (like the USA) that the world cannot fiack around with.

The Chinese are generally a misunderstood lot. Politics aside, they are generally a very nice and helpful lot, most of them are easily contended. As long as there is food on the table and shelter over their heads, they are happy, which may explain Zhenzidan’s observation and you can’t fault them because those who are in Sinkieland currently are mostly farmers who are used to making RMB20,000 a year before they step foot on Sinkieland.

That having said, if you ask me, I would rather spend the remaining of my life in China than in Sinkieland where everyone and everything is ‘cold’. You really have no idea how nice and helpful the Chinese peasants (even strangers) can be, until you spend time with them.

China is actually a very suitable (since all Chinese) and a nice place to retire and enjoy whatever is left of my life. It is really very affordable compared to the sky-high living costs in many other countries. I used to drive around the country 4 times a year visiting various tourist destinations before I was stroken.

Anyway, on a related note, had Sinkieland been under the charge of ANY low-ranking city mayor (市长 or 县长) to deal with the C19 say since last month, Sinkies would be out in groups cheonging KTV and Nite clubs TODAY.

Sinkieland is only the size of a medium-sized town in China with about 6 million residents, so easily manageable logistically.

Again the million-dollar question: Why are the LEEders so unwilling and reluctant to initiate mass-testing? Once every infected have been “caught”, what further need is there for the vaccine?

P/S: The Chinese government did give out money (in various forms), in fact, more than the peanut SG$600 which I freaking DID NOT receive because I DO NOT have a local bank account and MOF refused to credit it into my CPF account.

    ————————————————————————–
Not really. Many are city dwellers, perhaps from 2nd or 3rd tier cities and counties. Not all are farmers. About 10-15 years ago, those who came to Singapore maybe yes, but not now. And those were the cheapskates, coming here to try to hook an old man with CPF savings. That’s why you see many husband snatchers. Now very few, because China progressing very fast and even their own countrymen despise those types who sent their children here to study but actually making use of their children to come here and earn the Singapore dollar, and they will do anything including selling their bodies. A number of them who came 20+ years ago(when China still a little backward) from bigger cities like Shanghai or Wenzhou now regretted becoming Singapore citizens as their comrades previously working under them in China and subordinates later went on to hold high positions in companies and the civil service. They cannot go back now because they will feel malu. But at least they still can retire back home when they grow old because they still have relatives and friends to network.

I cannot say that your observation is wrong. There are always rotten Apples in a basket and some of them are really beyond belief.

Anyway, these handfuls of them choose to be hoodwinked and converted, they are now suffering the consequences of their accepting the BS that the party has thrown at them.

I do know a few in the city whom have left for Sinkieland and I always advise them to make as much money as they can and then return to China, NEVER ever think of converting to Sinkiporean or you will suffer like local Sinkies.

Stay in Sinkieland by all means and keep the status as FTs, NEVER convert.

No point setting up a clinic in the dormitory if the worker die die don’t want to see doctor. He can be next to the clinic but just won’t go see the doctor after all.

As the old saying goes, you can make a cow go to the river but you sure as hell can’t make it drink if it doesn’t want to.

PAP ministers are stupid enough already with the things they have said and done. We will always be using their obscene pay as the reason to kick them out in an election along with their mistakes.

They need to convert if not their children cannot enjoy lower school fees. So normally only one spouse converted, and the children will get citizenship. They can renounce their citizenship when they grow old, unless they have nothing left in China. One of my Henan friend is such an example, but never mind, his wife has relatives in China and her parents still own an apartment in the contryside.

Reported on TOC:Quote -”A member of the public, Harry Ong Heng Poh, wrote a complaint letter against NTUC FairPrice which was published on the Straits Times (ST) today (‘Forum: FairPrice cafe prices seem too high for most customers‘, 25 Jan).

Mr Ong complained that the food prices at NTUC FairPrice cafe are too high for majority of Singaporeans. “Recently, I went to the newly opened FairPrice Xtra supermarket at Parkway Parade,” he wrote.

“There is a cafe inside the supermarket, and a piece of cake there can cost between $5.90 and $6.90. Even a simple doughnut can cost $2.50, as compared to a popular curry puff being sold in the same shopping centre for $1.80.”

“There are many elderly customers at the supermarket who may need to take a break but who may not be able to afford the prices at this cafe,” he added.

“FairPrice should set the trend and have hawker stalls instead at its supermarket cafe.”

“It should also not overlook its original mission to serve the working class and the fact that the majority of its customers are working-class people.”

First cocktail bar in a supermarket in Singapore

NTUC FairPrice outlet at Parkway Parade was officially opened last Friday (22 Jan) by the Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng, who was previously the Group CEO and MD at IHH HealthCare Berhad. On PMO’s website, it praised Tan saying that during Tan’s tenure, IHH “doubled its revenue from RM 6 billion to RM 12 billion”.

… The new FairPrice outlet spans over 59,000 sq ft and is ….”Unquote .

Response : The passage speak volume for itself .It is wrong for NTUC fairprice to divert from its core competency which is supermarket and diversify its business into food court or hawkers such that all the food prices skyrocketed .All supermarkets whatever brand should not be given licence to go into food hawkers business or digital banking or whatever .Say for example,if Sheng Sionx allowed a licence to operate digital banking which is different from its core competency in supermarket, and if digital banking lose money, will it recover back by upping all food supermarkets prices ? Such thing may obviously going to happen ,right ? Is Mr Lee Hsien Loong still sleeping ,then go and ask his shit son Lee Hong Yi to slap him to wake him up ! Until now,Lee Hsien Loong may not know how e*** is the whole country run by e*** greedy women wing system ! Pui! All the food prices in supermarket become super expensive because NTUC fairprice failed to downsize its supermarket excessive huge floor area, compact its goods, and pass the savings to its customers ! Now ,one old cucumber/ green marrow cucumber selling at e*** Giant supermarket costs 39 cents per think 100 gram .Such old cucumber usually previously cost between 10 to 20 cents at Ang Mo supermarket per think 100 gram or whatever ! Pui!
