Tracking of Singaporean core in companies

Gerald Giam

In response to Gerald Giam’s question on tracking of Singaporean core in companies, Chan Chun Sing (CCS) replied that ‘it is not meaningful to track Singaporean core in companies’.

I strongly disagree with the position taken by CCS. Let me explain.

CCS gave all the politically correct answers except this part. He conveniently forgot that his government was elected by Singaporeans and not by companies or foreigners into office and thus, for as long as it stays in office, it owes each and every citizen a sacred duty to ensure that they can be gainfully employed and not being sidelined, marginalised or exploited etc by companies in Singapore!

‘Our economic schemes are meant to encourage companies to upgrade their capabilities and expand their operations in Singapore to create good jobs for Singaporeans’- Chan Chun Sing.

I ask how can the government be sure that after companies having benefited from our schemes, our tax incentives, upgraded and expanded in Singapore, Singaporean workers are not shortchanged, sidelined, marginalised, deprived and/or merely employ by them to make up for the quota numbers to enable companies to employ even more foreigners if we do not track them?

I will be blunt here. To me, CCS is nothing more but a book-smart idiot and a highly educated fool who is totally devoid of human ingenuity, cunningness and street-wisdom.

Our Singaporean core is only under 4 million strong and not 14 millions like some Chinese cities. If the government is resolute enough to track their developments, their progression and their overall wellbeing in companies, with today’s technologies and government resources, it is totally possible and doable but that is provided the pap government bothers and cares enough.

CCS’s answer is another hard knocking head lesson for our hardcore and often unthinking suckerporeans.

Think.

I THOUGHT PAPpypolitics is ALREADY AWARE that some banks “underperformed” of failing to maintain a Singaporean core in his employment mix and this was admitted in Parly without naming the offending financial institutions.

SO IT BEATS ME how can PAPpynomics then turn prata to deny that it is possible to track a Singaporean core?

  • Quota is pathetic:

The quota sates number of local residents (Singaporean + PR) must be fulfilled by employer then can employ foreigners. It provides loopholes for companies to recruit all PRs who are ultimately foreigners. Correct me if I am wrong.

No wonder some singaporean PMETs are underemployed and unemployed which should not happen because there abundant jobs out there. It allows hiring manager to discriminate against singaporean. Not surprised many of the unemployed or underemployed PMETs are facing this and government has not done enough to protect singaporean especially scrutinising the big companies.

The worst part is the quality of the foreign PMETs (blue collar construction workers too) as the common knowledge is majority of them can get into western developed countries which basically deemed rejects. In the 80s we got real talents albeit small in numbers who transfer knowledge to Singapore, nowadays we essentially mass import cheap (actually some are not) PMETs who are here to learn on the job.

I don’t think Singapore has overall quality working population compared to north east Asia. If we have direct competing industries with the north east Asia especially China, no way we can compete with them. I foresee we going to be the Asia pacific hub for many China companies (in addition to western companies) in near future which is already happening due to the China – US trade war, whilst China will be the technology hub.

    What is civil disobedience?
It meant I, intentionally do no obey the law and at the same time, I am willing and prepare to face the consequences of my action and behaviour just like Nelson Mandela.

But pea brain AMTK opposition supporters do not understand this just like the Taiwanese. 呆湾人

    Hello:

Totally agree with you on your assessment of Chan Chun Sing. He is nothing but a blood sucking sob of a politician. Without the Lee family he will be nothing. Not even his status in the army can safe him as he is known to be a no balls arsehole who sucks up to his leaders. Listen to him opening his mouth makes my temperature rise. Get that arsehole to stand in any single constituency and he will be defeated by anybody from the opposition. Get him to do it…I bet my bottom dollar he wont have the guts not balls nor decency to do it.

  • Harder Truths:

$G has a population of about 5.9 million all up. $G local-born who can work may only be about half the total local-born based on demographics and regime policy of discriminating against older workers and racial profiling.

If 2.5 million is the actual figure for local-born (say) not accounting for foreigners taking citizenship then it can be estimated there are only about 1.5 million local-born actually working. The rest are schooling, disabled, retirees or out of work.

So you have 1.5 million vs 3.4 million FT (= 5.9-2.5) then this is a ratio of 1:2.2 easily. If you consider that regime civil servants in all government departments are not outside looking for jobs then the ratio may be even 1:3.

In other words for every single $G local-born vying for a job there are three foreigners on the average also applying for the same job.

The above is a work of fiction and not subject to POFMA.

  • He never works:

CCS has not been gainfully employed by any private sectors since birth till this day. As such, it is not too far fetched to say that he is completely clueless the sufferings of Singaporeans who are under the mercy of those private corporations. He just parachuted into a cushy jobs, no experience needed, just talk and follow instructions.

Semantics. They are telling a half-truth.

No-one can track the ‘$G core’ in companies when there isn’t any such ‘core’ in the first place,

$G local-born citizens make up the easy-to-replace part of any company and are only employed because the FT have to pretend there are some $G in their company for some reason or another. But these may not be employed for long or made to resign once their use has run out.

This is what is really happening outside. In the future $G citizens may not even make it to 30 before being told they are to be replaced.

Yes. And it also hits me that singaporean will not be gaining promotion from FT bosses. So you have FT recruitment agents discriminate Singaporean in job applications, FT hiring manager discriminates Singaporean in not shortlisting singaporean applicants for job interview, and FT bosses not awarding promotion to Singaporean. And more importantly government is not doing enough (correct me if I am wrong) to protect singaporean (the local residents quota already tells you about this).

Working in private sector is stress, under FT boss is even more stressful due to potential discrimination. So the first choices now become civil servant, PHV driver, hawker (gov is encouraging it).
