Wasting big money keeping weak minister like Amy Khor in office

Dr Amy Khor

The purpose of this commentary is to shame Amy Khor publicly for her incompetence.

She disclosed in Parliament that more than 1000 enforcement actions were taken against high-rise litterbugs last year, ie, only about 3 or 4 cases per day on the average across the whole of Singapore. I say how seriously pathetic that was.

Under the premiership of the late Minister Mentor, Singapore earned a worldwide reputation and admiration for being a Clean and Green City that even foreigners talked about and Singaporeans took pride in and walked with their heads held high. Those days are well behind us.

Today, under an incompetent leadership, except for a few places such as the Marina Bay areas and Changi Airport, many of our HDB heartlands are dirty and some are even filthy. Many foreigners who have lived in Singapore long enough will be able to attest to the deteriorating state of our public cleanliness over the years.

Years ago, I had even visited Sam Tan, the MP for Radin Mas at his office personally at MICA Building to feedback to him about the very sorry state of Block 105 and 106, especially Block 105 at Jalan Bukit Merah which was under his charge and he nonchalantly replied that was the dirtiest estate in the whole of Singapore.

A pap ward!

It is so even until today and I invite and challenge anybody to go and see for himself/herself the very sorry state and rubbish lying around the blocks thrown from highrise units the night before. The best time to visit is between 5.30am to 6.00am. ( Please read this paragraph again).

I ask myself if I were put in charge and earn what Amy Khor earns, can I do a better job than her and without hesitation, my answer is Most Definitely!

I extend my challenge to Amy Khor. For one year, if I am given the opportunity with the same level of resources, same level of support and tougher legislations, I am confident that I will deliver much better results than Amy Khor.

Our public education cum enforcement efforts approach over the years have proven to be an utter failure and we must wake-up to the sad reality.

Our country is wasting big money keeping weak minister like Amy Khor in office.

Singaporeans must demand a higher level of real performance and not wayang and we should stop wasting our precious hard-earned taxes on such washed out.

Think.

Well. I say that half the problem are the citizens themselves. I am sure they know what bins are for. We wasted millions on clean and green campaigns and educational projects, but it did not take. Fines and CWO do not seem to work. I think the time has come to stop using the carrot and the rod.

Aiyoh, 3 or 4 cases a day against the 5 million plus people living in Singapore.. Singaporean should get a pat on their back to thank them . Encourage them to keep up and trying to reduce the litter bug to zero. Please don’t use harsh words or enforce by upgrading heavy penalties.
Lucky for this pandemic. Just go to Little India, Lucky Plaza, Geylang , Golden Mile… on Sunday night. You can see the littering around. Worst doing haircuts at the playground at Little India.
We are in the state of Mental confusion and Mental stresss because of the pandemic. So far People of Singapore have done a good job. Please encourage each other to play safe. Pandemic is not over yet! Vaccine….not sure whether or hopefully vaccine could stamp out the spread.
Hope the Ministers should thank all the people in Singapore and their families not only the front line. Please worry about increase in divorce cases and family dispute.

A weak lhl needs weak ministers to make lhl look strong.

Just look at the covid tracing saga.
It looks like there’s a huge internal fight in the PAP government.

This in-fighting has gone on for awhile & heighten after east-coast HENG was made the PM in-waiting.
Heng has no time or energy to tackle the problems our nation is facing because he is busy defending his future.

There’re covid clusters & there’re different political clusters within the PAP government.

Anyway they know nobody can touch them & they still get the $millions paycheck & maybe paid themselves huge bonus for thinking they did a fantastic job on the covid.

    Sad

And hyper-inflated HDB as speculative real estate and super untouchable Medisave piggy bank: nothing like these have ever been seen in the modern developed economies of the first world …. nothing like the educated Singapore slave sheeple has ever existed before in the world.

If not for Drs. Toh Chin Chye and Goh Keng Swee and the valiant natural aristocrats, LKY was just a nervous wreck after being ousted by Malaya PM Tengku Abdul Rahman who had branded him an “untrustworthy man” for his unscrupulous realpolitik manoeuvres in Malaya to seize political power with little regard for the socio-cultural realities of the nation….. anyway grannies and grandpas don’t have to slog on at $6/hr in any of the states in Malaysia. • Do they have shame?:

Abu Mas’ud ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amr al-Ansari al-Badri(ra) reported this story:

“The Messenger of God – peace be upon him – once said: ‘Among the early prophetic teachings that have reached people is this:- If you do not have any shame (haya’), do whatever you desire.’ ”

    (recorded by Bukhari)

The Arabic word used here is haya’, often translated as modesty. However, haya’ is more complex and dynamic than merely modesty; it encompasses many other textures of meaning including: humility, sensitivity, shyness, apprehensiveness, and conscience, besides feeling ashamed.

From what I understand, the Town councils take charge of estate management while RCs organise activities for residents. The RCs are mostly volunteers and I know some of them. The RC for my area is not involved in estate management. Which is why the writer said his block is unclean? The Town council for Bukit Merah may have too many areas to upkeep.

Reported on Straits Times :Quote -”Not true clearing own tables will deprive cleaners of jobs: Amy Khor….

    Jolene Ang…
SINGAPORE – A national survey on public hygiene has found that some 47 per cent of Singaporeans think that clearing their own tables after eating at public places can deprive cleaners of their jobs.

But this is not true, said Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor on Saturday (Feb 6).

She said: “There will still be cleaners needed to maintain and upkeep the general cleanliness and hygiene of the food centre… they will still have to wipe down and disinfect the tables.

“In fact, (diners returning their own trays) will help the cleaners, in terms of improving the welfare of the working environment.”

She was speaking to reporters on Saturday after a visit to Yuhua Village Hawker Centre and Broadway Coffeeshop in Jurong East, to launch a national campaign to encourage people to clean up after eating in public food places.

The survey of 1,402 people conducted by the National Environment Agency (NEA) late last year had also found that 90 per cent of respondents felt that people should be required to do so.

And 76 per cent said they do return their trays and used crockery most of the time in such places.

However, the average tray return rate at most hawker centres is currently only around 30 per cent.

NEA said this indicates the actual practice on the ground does not reflect individual espoused behaviour when it comes to tray return.

Dr Khor said the Clean Tables Campaign, which aims to address this discrepancy, is timely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “Used tissues, wet wipes and the remnants left on the table – they are potential bio-hazards. And they pose a threat to the people who have to clear this up when we leave them behind on the table.”

Cleaning up one’s own table can potentially minimise the risk of infectious diseases spreading, she added.

During her visit, Dr Khor spoke to diners at the two food centres, and demonstrated the folding of an origami “dustbin” box to be used to collect food remnants and litter.

The NEA said: “In view of the current pandemic, NEA seeks support from the public to address table litter at our public dining places… Good public and personal hygiene is the first line of defence against diseases.”…

More coffee shop chains to work with Public Hygiene Council to enhance hygiene standards
From this month, posters and other visual cues, as well as audio announcements, will be rolled out progressively to all 111 hawker centres, coffee shops and food courts in Singapore…”Unquote .

Response :Evil b**$* woman Amy Khor Lean Suan is now targetting those not returning the tray and need everyone to clean up after everybody is paying exorbitant superexpensive food prices ! Pui! See it coming very soon. And this e*** b**$* Amy obviously wants to collect more e*** fined money from those not returning tray ! Real wi**** woman !
