Future for Singapore

I am worried about the future for Singapore.

I get the impression that during the past 18 months, most of our ministers are focused on fighting the covid pandemic.

What about other important matters, such as:

- running the country?
- making sure that our people have jobs?
- combating crime?
- make sure that Singapore remains competitive in the new global economy?
- address the pressures of our education system?
- encouraging our young families to have children?
- ensure that our national defense is reliable?

We have so many problems that need to be addressed. The job of the ministers is not just to combat covid (although it is important) and to set complicated rules on social distancing.

They have many other important matters to attend to.

I could be wrong. Maybe they are also paying attention to these important issues.

Straits Times: Age verification checks on e-commerce portals being considered for items like axes, says Desmond Tan

    This is really stupid.

Axes can be easily purchased in HDB neighborhood hardware stores. Will age verification be also required at these stores?

Can also buy a piece of lead pipe or rebar, ice pick, machete, hammer, large sharp chisels, heavy steel wrenches, large screwdrivers, etc at hardware stores. All of these can also kill just like an axe. Will age verification also be needed for these items?

Also all of the above including axes might already be in many homes which a student can take to school. Also, ALL homes have large knives used for preparing meals. An empty bottle of wine can also be easily used to kill.

How about rope? A student can bring a piece of rope to strangle another student. A “psycho” student can also bring (rat) poison or dangerous chemicals like acid (also sold in hardware stores) to school to kill other students.

The better way is to install metal detectors at entrances in all schools PLUS thorough inspection of all school bags for items that can kill which are not metal like glass bottles, large piece of wood, chemicals. etc.

Need to focus on students, not possible weapons they might use to kill other students.

Also, most likely there are already many objects in schools which can be used to kill.

Singapore taxpayers are wasting their money paying PAP Ministers and Minsters of State.

Reported pn Straits Times :Quote-”SINGAPORE – Safe distancing enforcement officers can enter, inspect and search various premises, including residences, without a warrant, to check whether Covid-19 regulations are being complied with, said the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on Monday (Aug 2).

“Nonetheless, officers will calibrate their approach for each premises, based on the circumstances of each case,” it said.

URA provided this response after actor Nick Mikhail posted videos on Instagram about URA officers and police officers entering his home on July 31.

Mr Mikhail first posted a video lasting 7½ minutes which has since garnered 113,000 views. In the video, he questioned why officers could enter his home at night without a warrant or a court order.

He was not home at the time, so officers spoke to his wife who he said was resting then.

He followed this with another video captured by a closed-circuit television camera showing six officers at his home. On Monday night, he posted another video lasting 15 minutes on the incident.

URA said it has noted the social media postings and has contacted him to address his concerns.

“Since late June this year, agencies had received repeated complaints from residents of the landed housing estate that some residences, including Mr Nick Mikhail’s, were having gatherings with more than the permitted number of visitors. There were also complaints about the noise generated from the alleged gatherings,” it said.

“In response to the feedback, officers from different agencies had been deployed to the estate to check for potential infringements of Covid-19 regulations as well as noise.”

URA added that on July 31, three safe distancing enforcement officers from URA, supported by three police officers, conducted joint enforcement checks on a few residences in the estate, including Mr Mikhail’s home.

When they arrived at his home, the officers saw the gate was wide open and the house lights turned on.

“They also spotted two cars parked outside the residence, and thus proceeded to ascertain whether there were any visitors in the unit, and if the numbers were within permissible limits,” URA said.

The officers entered the car porch and knocked on the door of the house, it added. They identified themselves and explained the purpose of their visit after a woman opened the door.

“She agreed to allow the officers entry, and escorted them around the house to facilitate their checks,” URA said, adding that all three safe distancing enforcement officers, one of whom is female, followed her in a single file for the inspection, and were mostly in one another’s line of sight…”Unquote.

Response : Singapore government want to catch residential area for violations of extra visitors to homes ???? It is for for the fine money rather than catch covid ! One person fine $300-$1000 or more is nothing short of the government robbing people ! Pui !

  • Tan Kin Lian Is So So So Smart:

Tan Kin Lian should become the Prime Minister. He is a wasted talent, wasting his time writing on his blog, posting at TRE (and also on Facebook?).

Irony is that nobody is taking him seriously.

And he got his deposit forfeited when he entered for the presidential election.

He should form a political party for himself because no existing political parties will accept him.

He should call his political party The Jokers’ Party.

@Mr. Tan; What to you expect from the PAP, don’t you know PAP is a one-act pony? This galaxy highest paid pony!!

When there are issues in other areas, blame them on the Covid. Blame it on those not vaccinated. Blame it on the conveyor belt in the airport. Blame it on those above 60 years old in the fishery port. Blame it on people not clearing the tray in hawker centers.

But never, never blame it on the back door entrance of the Delta variant. Never blame it on the leakage created by the Multi minister task force. Just don’t look at the task force when you want to has something or someone to blame!!

HOW can there be a FUTURE for SinKapore when the Joker Emperor w/o Clothes EVEN has to APPEAR on the National TV to SHOW his FFace to “URGE” and PUSH DAMN HARD for the VACCINATION of the Older Folks! Apparently, his World Class Ministerial Trash Force isn’t do a good job according to his Game Plan to reclassify Covid19 from Pandemic to Endemic and most impotent oops important of all to OPEN Up our Economy to investors and visitors and of course to RESUME his OPEN-LEG policy to FTs. This has FORCED him to OPEN his Big CB Mouth.

Given the latest news that the efficacy of Pfizer vaccine has dropped from 95% to 83% after 4 months and vaccinated folks have to go for a 3rd shot, quite a number of folks all over planet earth NOW having a SECOND THOUGHT of Poking by the mNRA vaccines like Pfizer, etc, Mai Hum and Wifey Holee Jinx who have INVESTED heavily in pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, are now desperate and sweaty under the armpit as the PAPigs’ $billions pre-ordered of Pfizer vaccines(only 6 months shelf life) are also ARRIVING to SinKapore in batches FAST and FURIOUS! Moreover, the production of Pfizer vaccines all over the shop, is also churning out FAST AND FURIOUS in anticipation that their POW CHEK Holee vaccines are in GREAT DEMAND by filthy rich countries like SinKapore, Japan, etc.
