Government To Do More To Help With Surging Cost Of Living

86% Of Singaporeans Want Government To Do More To Help With Surging Cost Of Living!

And 48% out of this 86% say government must do a lot more to help! I agree because the $1.5 billion package announced so far is peanuts compared to how much was spent to help big Corporations during the pandemic.

We are going to have a Long term problem with inflation and the PAP have only exacerbated it by announcing impending GST rises.

All over the world, governments are rushing out aid to their citizens. The British Government is giving out £1200 to over 8 million households in a £37 Billion package. The New Zealand Government has extended fuel tax cuts ( something which the PAP refuses to do ) and also half price public transport fares to 31 January 2023.
Decent governments will help their citizens in difficult economic times!

You want citizens to defend the country in times of conflict? Well, you better reciprocate and lend a big helping hand when economic times are bad!

I disagree. We control our choices…
    - Can do without a car, maid and even a pricy condo. HDB have better facilities and services than many condos.

    - Can choose a cheaper barber, cook more at home, use less electricity, water, etc.

    - Get a bicycle for nearby shopping.

When costs rise, we can do a lot, to go for cheaper choices. Many items have not risen in price. Shop wisely.

Easy to point the finger at the Government. Spore cannot escape high energy price, high food prices, etc.

As consumers, I buy a cheap pair of sandals for just $4.50 instead of a $40 pair. My pair of nice leather shoes, just bought, cost $65 vs $200 for one at a more expensive shop.

My haircut is $10 and is right at my condo. What is it that I have no control over?

    Sensible.

But why 4.50 sandals ? Quality too f*** up and not lasting. Better option 15 ones at decathlon.

4.50 Young ok but if old or middle age, go for better ones. Not necesssary to be branded.

Disgusting and gullible policies dished out by the uncaring PAP Government over the past decades have undoubtedly created a substantial pool of SG senior voters living far below that poverty line.Whatever trusts that remain have all but disipated. The very least the one in power can do is to arrange for the immediate lump sum drawdown of another at least 20 percent by all seniors from their CPF account to meet rising COL.Act before it’s too late!!!

  • Absurdity:

There are 2 sides of the coin. For people who don’t bat an eyelid to spending or haven’t been as prudent as they could, what you say applies.
There are others who don’t belong to this category, especially when all that can be done practically has been done. Even more than the suggestions you listed. These are the people who have pulled all the stops and they are not like you and me who have not done so. There are times when costs cutting becomes too deep and they end up cut off socially too.
How much cost cutting is too deep and unsustainable on a land where everything is expensive? That is if the multi-millionaire-infested team have the moral compass to ask. Everyone in that team claims that they perform at levels deserving of their multi million dollars yet so many things went wrong.
No one said that Singapore can escape inflation. The whole issue is how planning was done to mitigate risks since a long time back. This land
is one that can only grow in peace times and that’s when the multi millionaire team always claims credit. When the environment becomes volatile, they attribute to uncontrollable factors. Then we need a multi millionaire team for what? Claim credit and dodge underperformance accountabilities?
The kind of mayors are those whom no other country wants for their price tags.
Ever ask what exactly each of the multi millionaire morons do literally everyday to add value?

  • How To Survive In Own Land ?:

My wife who is 60 plus earns S$3,600 pm month and will be retired early next year. My two children are jobless. I am 72 years old and unemployed due to my age. How are we going to survive in our own country ?

A plate of Char Siew Rice previously cost S$3.00 now cost S$5.80. So how ? Just order Rice without Char Siew ? Prices of most things have gone up. Probably need to rob to survive. WTF

Yes. Some people do that. Not many though. During upgrading a few years back, noticed every block would throw away bags of coal. Some unopened. Then heavy rain days some near 70 uncle would bring down about 4 pails to collect rain water. Vehicles owners drive to JTC industrial buildings on a sunday and use the water to wash cars. Some drive to HIP upgrading blocks to use the water to wash cars especially after midnight. One very interesting case on a very hot and sunny day prcs used solar for cooking. Else our prcs would eat instant cup noodles or porridge. Pro china fans should practice that. Since your prcs mates can do it so must you else how to convince.

And retirees would gather at shopping malls seat around and enjoyed free aircon. Free toilets free soap free toilet papers unlimited somemore whereas China you need to scan and only limited toilet paper are dispense to you.

Not going to happen…..wasn’t LKY the one who demanded that you used up every last cent of your savings, mortgage your house, pawn your jewellery and so on to pay for your own medical bills before the state shall step in to help?

Yet, the peasants are expected to sacrifice their lives, sweat and tears for the country as and when needed. The really remarkable thing is the peasants actually buy into this whole IQ destroying propaganda. They end up suffering, their children suffered and the best part is they haven’t a clue who or what is causing them to suffer….because they have lost their ability to think critically and independently.
