No Help

Most would agree that the worst of Covid is behind us. But now we have another problem with runaway global inflation. Prices all over the world are skyrocketing. And Singapore is no exception.

Governments throughout the world are trying their best to assist locals by giving free public transport, lowering taxes, absorbing or subsidizing petrol costs and a host of other assistance measures.

However, our government is of no help at all. They even insist the GST hike will go ahead. They simply won’t budge and consider delaying it. Or scrap the idea altogether. COE prices are at an all-time high and even economy rice is no longer economical. The irony is we have probably the highest fiscal reserves (per capita) of all countries.

The government should have a heart but I’m questioning if ours do.

  • Don't anyhow say:

This gov has said many times that new GST is to help the poor.

Like the $100 billion budget. $600 for most Singapore (not including non-adults, who get $0) and $millions or $billions for rich companies.

Energy, Food and Water are perhaps the three most important pillars of life.

Other than water, GIS and Temasek have invested very little in energy and food. Today, inflation has risen strongly in both energy and food.

Malaysia banned the export of poultry and we found our favorite live chicken supply stopped.

Despite abundant sunshine, we have merely tip-toed into solar energy when we could have installed PV panels over all our canals, roads and buildings, saving hundreds of millions. We would have been a top producer of our own solar panels.

These issues are not even debated in Parliament. We have Jamus Lim, a professor in economics. He would know about the importance of energy and food security. But has he raised these issues and pressed for action?

We could have started agriculture in so many countries and diversify our supply sources.

Singapore will suffer along with the rest of the world.

All the opposition supporters kept saying Jamus Lim is good, better than our great PAP MP.

So, how come he under perform and never raise issue on food and energy ?

Is Opposition Jamus Lim there to oppose for the sake of opposing only ?

  • SINGAROAR:

LHL has said that by voting for the PAP, the people are agreeable to all the policies and actions of the PAP. So they will not reduce costs. They will not reduce their salaries. They will continue to create unnecessary positions in the government for party members at the costs of taxpayers. They will continue to bring in foreigners and fund them in Start-ups or other enterprises. They will continue to increase the population even if there is a shortage of health workers and the virus infections are rising. They will continue to build & build to sink the island faster. Now we are called “Sinkieland.” They will not help our elderly by giving them a $500/- monthly payment like Canada. They will not give free transportation to our elderly. Iswaran will say the rest of the commuters will have to pay increased charges. Why? The elderly are using the same trains as the commuters. No special trains for them. So is he talking about maintaining profits or offsetting costs? He is a million dollar paid Minister and should know the difference. They will not declare their assets to the public yearly like other 1st world countries. Their spouses will be employed by them and their remuneration hidden from the public. They spend and spend with no intention or need to cut costs because we the people of Singapore will continue to fund them and vote them in over and over. So are we the problem to ourselves or the PAP?

He has already covered it when he asked for the SING$ to strengthen against the US$. There is no need to list item by item.

It is disappointing that you are throwing stones at the opposition when none
of the many PAP MPS, having the majority in parliament have not worked at a solution to help the public but are supporting the GST increase.

  • What Are U Waiting For ?:

The PAP Elites are all drawing more than 1 million dollars per year. All of them dare not open their mouth or else they will be losing the million dollar salaries. LHL did a very good job.

What can we do ? We can do nothing now except vote the PAP out in the coming election. Unless they change.

It is exploding in Japan, Korea, Australia, NZ and Singapore. Compare the numbers than and now. Just because we adopt a don’t care, never mind, just open up, ignore the numbers, so it is over?

These are countries that used the experimental mRNA vaccine touted as the best in the world, 96% efficacy! The rest of Asean countries that used Chinese vaccines are getting better and better. How come?

Just look at the prices of food at our coffeeshop and hawker Centres.
In time like this, Government intervention is needed,
More so for Singapore with such high reserve.
Time to be kind and helpful to the poor ,new poor and the Seniors.
