The vocal assassin from which no genre is safe

Let us all take a break from the thrill/stress of living with the virus and divert our attention to this sweet, young talented lady from the Philippines, Morissette Amon, whose vocal abilities are simply out of this world, zooming in and out of the whistle register with ease.

Welcome to a new singing universe, where Morissette performs. Once you’ve entered into this universe, you will not be content when you return to the universe where human singers dwell.

You don’t just listen to Morissette, you experience Morissette. She is a vocal assassin from which no genre is safe! Morissette doesn’t just sing a song, she becomes the song, and pulls you in, and has her way with your heart and emotions.

She is renowned for her God-given tone and her ability to effectively deliver the message of the song. If you are just starting to pay attention to Morissette, you haven’t seen nothing yet!

No idea what the “whistle register” means? Never mind, just sit back and enjoy her original song, “Akin Ka Na Lang”.

We trust you will stil enjoy the song despite it being in a language we probably don’t understand.

* Note that she is singing sitting down!

  • Wow!

The whistle tone after the middle belt took me completely by surprise, I was expecting her to fade off but she just kept on going and flip into a whistle.

She also appears to have done a full belt run for more than 14s (3.39-3.54 from her last catch breath, with no sign of fading or loss of power, very very impressive. It’s like she never catches any breath during her final belt run.

Her vocal range is amazing also, simply world-class, if I may add.

Nothing new, she is a good singer though. There are more & Better ones. Go listen to AGT, Loren Allred “Never Enough”, Marcelito Pomoy solo on “Beauty and the Beast” and compare.

What happen to our own – “Talentimes”? Faked away? No one interested, all chasing after money? Maybe too busy working to pay sky-high housing & instalments. Buy one supposedly ‘public housing’, no more financial freedom for at least 35 years.

Stupid Sinkies continue to vote for PAP, your children will pay for their ‘public housing’ for 50 years. Pathetic.

IMHO, Whitney and Mariah are superclass professionals (with plenty of record labels to boot), unfair to compare to them cause Morrissette is still an amateur (even though she started to sing at 14), at best division 2.

Loren however although she did Never Enough, is in the same divison as Morrissette and both of them are very good, they are on par with each other. Morrissette also did Never enough and some have opined her to be better than Loren, but I still think Loren is better suited for Never Enough, her voice is so beautiful and fits the song perfectly. One thing to note however, is that Morrissette did Never Enough sitting down, which seems to suggest that her breathing technic is better than Loren and during that song, she has plenty of air to spare.

Of course most singers can do whistle tone, but to do it like Morrissette (have not heard Loren do whistle at all), I doubt only a handful can do it that masterfully. However, I believe Morrissette’s exceptional ability is in her vocal range (5 1/2 octave?) and the way she utilises her singing technics, that is simply superb and can easily match singers like Mariah and the late Whitney, but then again, we are comparing division 1 and division 2, quite unfair in my opinion.

In any case, I prefer Loren because her voice is very soothing while Morrissette’s is at time, painful to the ear.

As for Sinkieland singers, I doubt there are ANY that can match Loren or Morrissette, PERIOD.

We do have many ‘singers’. They are in Par-Li-Men SSTK. None of these singers you mentioned can match them.

The supposed ‘singers’ in wayang kulits are not singers, they are called puppets. lol

    @xoxo

I think she would do better than that rumored Bi Stepanie who did the national anthem. lol

P/S: BTW, I like the new reworded article, sounds so professional from a new assistant editor. Is she an opera singer by profession?

Do appeared her singing is top notch.

Somemore sing in public in the open space and she looks very comfortable.

Hopefully not CD playback plus lip sync.
    Sound quality too good.

  • @PAP mandate strong

I find it strange that people would like to compare her to Mariah and even call her Asia’s Mariah C. However, I believe Morrissette has better whistle register range than Mariah, in fact, I do not know of any song Mariah has done that has a whistle tone, do you? At best, the 2 of them can be said to have the same vocal range and great singing techniques, IMHO.

As for your question, the wish bus is actually a music studio, and her singing was definitely live, in front of a crowd, so no CDing or LipSyncing.

P/S: OK. I ran a check and it appears that Mariah has done whistle note in her early hit, “Emotion” and “All in your mind”. So I was wrong and ill-informed. lol

  • OK

I was watching one of my favorite singers Dimash (A GUY!) on the net and just noticed that HE can do whistle too, it appears that he can go higher than Morrissette (A6 in Akin) can, his whistle note in “unforgettable day” went off a conventional piano (D8)!

    Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu6rRQJ0Ldc

Although very impressive, it IMHO, does not add anything to the song at all because it is almost inaudible, I would see it as a cosmetic “show off” thingy. What do you think?

    Yup, I agree.

BTW, you should also listen to her do “I wanna know what love is”, she is able to do whistle-sing for a whopping 15 seconds! Even Mariah can’t do that (none that I have heard of anyway). She is just so amazing, simply out of this world!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idrnBNDZE_Q

Which brings me to realise that the Philippines has world-class talents, Sinkieland has world-class overpaid puppets and underpaid slaves (for teh lack of a better word). lol

What is so big deal about Singers, Actors, Athletes? They are just entertainers.
But somehow, people pay a lot of money to see them, idolize them, made them into demi gods?
Do they solve any real world problems? safe lives, cure diseases etc? NO.
During my time, I idolized Barbara Streisand, Michael Jordan, Maradona. I spent money to see them, buy their CDs etc.
Now I think if everybody don’t spent money on them, we could have save ourselves a fortune, instead of making them into millionaires.
They all come and they go.
Now, entertainment are mostly free over the internet. I never spend another cent on entertainment anymore.
Save the money for yourself and family to buy your essentials. You don’t have spend money to make other people rich.

Point 1: Yes, we SHOULD NOT idolize them and made them into demi gods. And we should not make them rich.

Point 2: While they do not solve any real world problems, they do bring temporary relief in times of hardship through their songs and, sometimes raise funds.
