Ethical and competent government

1. Many people believe that democracy is a good system to govern a country. It allows the citizens to choose the set of economic and social policies (as proposed by the political parties) to run the country and the people to implement these policies.
2. In reality, most voters are not qualified to make the right choice of the policies or to select the people who are capable to run the country.
3. The democratic system in many countries usually produce incompetent or corrupt leaders who make false promises to get elected and take the opportunity to enrich themselves.
4. Is there a better system?
5. The most important decision for a country is the set of goals to pursue. It is universally accepted that the goals should be:
a) peace and security
b) economic and social development
c) fairness and justice
d) freedom to pursue a happy life
6. The concept of “freedom and human rights” for the individual must be balanced against the rights of other people in the society. A person should not be free to carry out activities that are harmful to others.
7. If the national goals are agreed, the real challenge is to select the leaders who are able to achieve them.
8. The democratic system assumes that the voters are best to make that decision, based on the principle of “one man one vote”. This approach is flawed and has proved to be the case for decades in most countries.
9. What is a better system to select the leaders?
10. I believe that it can be formed by a council of wise people. These are people who knows the problems and challenges faced by the country. They are likely to be present and past leaders in society and have demonstrated integrity in their conduct, based on their past record. They are probably more capable of choosing the leaders to run the country.
11. The selected leaders will be judged based on their performance and ability to achieve the national goals. If they perform badly, they should be replaced.
12. The system that I described will not be a perfect system. It will have its flaws and weaknesses. However, on balance, it should work better than the democratic system adopted by most countries.

Democracy is a system where voters select the dictators, based on the candidate dictators’ propaganda.
In US, the candidate dictators’ donations come from the same source. Voters vote for the front man for the same dictator. That’s US democracy.

TKL learn nothing from American movies like Starwars and Conan the Barbarian . Jedi always fight the dark side which is corrupted. Dark side consist of corrupted people who are for power and money. Sith lord, Palpatine is a dictator who make himself an Emperor. Conan fight the the leader of a snake cult. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. All these dictators who get absolute power become selfish and do many evil things. Dictators care nothing about the people, they make high cost of living, never do enough for the poor and some conduct war for their own gains. Democracy is government by the people. It is better to have ruler chosen by people than chosen by few. The few are the elite, rich and powerful, they are for themselves. The reason why many nations have voting cannot rule well is because these nations are control by few. The few did not choose the most intelligent person to be the leader but the one which benefit them most. Imagine the suffering of people when evil people given power. It is the same as the movie when bad guys takeover and become powerful.

Talk Singapore. Is the Singapore political system the best way to produce an ethical and competent government. Has it? Why not?
Better for TKL to talk directly about the PAP system.
No point talking and comparing about the other shapes and hues of other systems of governance in other countries.
Can TKL, name me any country that has a reasonably successful system that work faultlessly.
Any political system is only as good as the people behind that run it.

Voters’ savviness aside,most so-called DEMOCRACIES DO NOT,IN EFFECT,TRULY ABIDE BY THE GUIDE-POSTS OF DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM.
SG IS A GOOD EXAMPLE.
DEMOCRACY HAS BECOME CAPITALISTIC INSTEAD OF BEING MERITOCRATIC.
IMPEDIMENTS SUCH AS GRC N EVEN SOME RESTRAINTS ON FREER SPEECH LAWS are ,in fact,UNdemocratic,are they not?

If there is no Russia-Ukraine War to accuse China of taking side with Putin,THE USA WOULD STILL FIND FAULT WITH CHINA IN OTHER WAYS.

It cuts both extreme ways.
when u have democratic system but efficient people u have success.
When u have demorcratic system with inefficient system u have failure.
If u have a totalitarian system with efficient system , u have success . when u have a totalitharian sytem with inefficient system – u have failure.
But any one of theese features can swing from one to the other. from efficient to inefficient under totalitarian system, over time – u will get failure in slow and methodical fashion. This is what singapore is heading towards when the 4G / 5G took over.

Today visited the Sim Lim Square basement kopitiam.Saw at least 9 food stalls look like closed stall for good.Don’t look like closed for the day.Wonder whether this falls under Josephine Teo Li Min area of MP ?And is Josephine Teo Li Min still very busy practising how to shoot video or become a director of movies maybe in Tik Tok video production ?Wasn’t such news reported something like that think in TISG website if I remember correctly ? Council of wise people may end up working for themselves, using politics to enrich their families and friends. Just look at all the dictators in the region including Putin, all are very rich with offshore accounts in Virgin or Swiss or even SG. Instead of running the country, they use these policies to enrich their side businesses… this is why ALL dictators are very rich.
Voters are end users of their policies, if they don’t feel they are benefited, they can use their votes to decide which wise group to run the country.

Democracy set the people up to be exploited by the strong and wise/cunning/ devious or wise in their eyes.
a) peace and security – you have to spend billions of dollars to arm yourselves with mass weapons of destruction by burdening taxpayers for assumed peace and security, is that even wise?
b) economic and social development – basically divided and conquered a very diverse(disunited) populace and seduced and aroused a wanton middle class to serve the economically superior and elitist driver’s doctrines
c) fairness and justice – you get hypocrisy and designer’s lies instead.
d) freedom to pursue a happy life – the price/cost of happiness has gone up, and keep rising, with many struggling with stressful and constant changes and paying the price of mental and psychological capital instead.
Your solution is the Council of the wise? It’s no less contentious because on whose authority this class of elites is determined and selected?
Some religion claimed exclusive right to wisdom by association with the divine. But we know they have make a mess of society and the world with their divisive and destructive teachings.
The wise of this world works with the inherent structural templates since the beginning of civilisation.
It exploits the base nature/gullibility of man for profit and destructive self interest.
The truly wise will destroy the pedestal of fools instead, who claimed to be wise, because they know and are honest about its end, and seek a….higher way.
