COE supply increase unlikely to cause significant price drop or deluge of cars on roads

I read with “COE supply increase unlikely to cause significant price drop or deluge of cars on roads: Analysts” (TODAY, May 9).

Transport Minister S Iswaran said that the authorities will bring forward and redistribute the supply of five-year COEs that are due to expire.

The move will increase the quota supply for small cars in Category A by 24 per cent, and large cars in Category B by 15 per cent, for the remaining bidding exercises in the May to July quarter

It is right for transport analysts and car dealers to predict that this increased supply is unlikely to cause COE prices to fall or increase the number of cars on the roads in long run.

Let us lift up the “veil” of the COE system, which is supposedly in nature serving two purposes: -

a)Curb the car population on the roads, and so far how effective of it after few decades of implementation?
b)keeping each car’s life span to ten years to ensure its engine is in good condition and the car does not emit exhaust gas. But, each paper costs approximately hundred thousand.

The people may wonder why we have well-structured public transport system (presently six MRT lines, with another future trans-island line, public bus system and cycling tracks across the island city), yet, there are still high demands for cars, motorcycles, goods vehicle and bus?

Of course, those people who need a car/vehicle for various reasons:

A. Car vendors who bid for cars to sell or rent. These vendors have made discreet market surveys and analysis about the demand and supply of various vehicles. Thus, whether the pricing of COE’s bidding – up or down, it won’t affect them in a great extent.

B. Those individuals who need a car to make a decent living. For example, the private hire vehicle drivers who need to rent a car will have to pay for higher price if the prices of COE going up. Also, those individuals who need a car, a van or a motorcycle to do sales and marketing tasks, or making a delivery.

C. Those cash-rich individuals or wealthy households who need a car (usually a type of Euporean luxury car) either for use or for displaying social status. Some private landed households even have more than three luxury cars.

This category of individuals who don’t really mind or bother the price of COE’s fluctuation.

D. Those businesses especially the logistics companies who need a lorry or a heavy truck (prime mover, crane) to do business or fulfilling their transportation obligations/commitments. These enterprises will unavoidably be affected if the category D price of COE shoots up.

Anyway, the relevant authority is on top of the entire situation and, they can do and should do something about it.

When the local papers quote an “analyst”, what they meant to say is “according to what we believe”.

If TRE had wanted to, we can quote hundreds of “analysts” in our articles, no need to provide credentials and identity, who cannot?

Being seen with a car, driving it is a symbol of wealth.
Does not matter if you own it or rented it.

Cannot drive the condo that you live in
Cannot drive around the stocks & bonds you own
Cannot drive around the trip you took to Paris in business class
Cannot drive around the country club membership.

    The car is 100% visible.
    Thats why.

    Singaporeans are very stupid people.
They vote the same party into power even though that
party has been taking money again & again.

Singaporeans are easily spooked by “enemies”
Singaporeans are easily scared by statements that the economy is down.
Singaporeans are easily scared by ” your wives & daughters will be maids”

Singaporeans are born and bred to be conned, scammed and screwed.

Thats why they are called “ANAL-ysts”.

Actually, I would go one step further and say these mostly clowns cause more “Anal-y-Cysts” than analysis. Yes?/No? LOL.

Oh btw, those are NOT “vaxxines” at all but rather “Xperimental mRNA Jabs”.

We have to be discerning with words because thats how the Sinkies often get hoodwinked by the wordplay of PAPies.

Just like how HDB Lessees (i.e. long-term 99-year renters) can become “home-OWNERS” or how a 10 year car lease makes one a “wealthy” car “owner”? Yes?/No? LOL.

Fact is, ALL Sinkies here are just leaseholders of their cars, but SSS Sinkies all “boh bian”… have to keep up appearances and “hou lian face value” to their friends & colleagues mah. LOL.

Thats why I say COE 100k is still “sup sup water” to Sinkies lah.
Let’s bid COE up higher to $500K, then we’ll see who are the ones who can truly afford it, while the rest of “need-to-hou-lian-but-stretch-credit-cards” types of SSS Sinkies all squeeze balls and KPKB lor. Yes?/No? LOL.

When COE reach even say $300K, then only PAPies elites can afford cars, then PAPies can become seen as true Elites Class and have all the (quiet) roads to themselves mah… otherwise, how can PAPies be considered “elites” when they have to SHARE the roads with so many poor Sinkies earning only “peanuts” but can still compete with road space with PAPies? Yes? LOL.

Don’t worry lah “PAPies Mandate velly Strong” mah and SSS Sinkies are dumbF**ks one lah… no matter hoe high cost of living here, PAPies will still get landslide one lah. Yes?/No?

If you don’t believe me, its ok… just wait & see results of next “general eRection” which is coming soon lor. LOL.

Since it $tarted in 1990 till now,33 year$ of *whats wrong with *COE-llecting* money has ONLY been ENRICHING THE GREEDY GAHMEN and achieve NOTHING else!

    COE IS SIMPLY CRAP$.
I propose every SG FAMILY be entitled to ONE FREE COE each for their FAMILY CAR.
NON-sgs can bid together with sg families who want extra car/s.
A Family car is a COMMON THING even in lesser developed countries, take Malaysia, for example.

The G likes to take the ea$y options.
Even G$T system is too crude n backwards.

We need to reserve a category to those who need it for work. I propose that the motor cycle category should be free from COE bidding ie should not incur any COE. Almost all food delivery workers are from Malaysia. Their vehicles do not incur COE and they have cheaper petrol. How do Singaporeans compete?

I urge the government to help Singaporean delivery workers to compete with their foreign counterparts. Otherwise ban all foreigners from this kind of work.

A system that is money-based will always work in favor of the rich and disadvantage the poor. If you cannot afford the COE you can forget about owning a car or motor-cycle no matter how much the increase in supply.

Yes, keep on importing more foreign car drivers who stay in million dollar condos.

Surely, this capitalist gamen could keep up with their demands for luxury.

Recently just bought a used Maserati for only $24K.

Super nice ride. No need COE one. No 10 year limit one.

This whole COE business is just another of the many PAP’s scam to suck your money dry.

Tech: Very nice car indeed. I have a businessman friend who owns one of them (his is white) and he told me that he bought it for RMB 1/2 million and has to be imported. Nice ride, very smooth, quiet and stable.

Hey “PAP Jab Mandate Strong”… you’re back just in time… after that “ZhenziDumb” scared fo me and ran away liao… Now, your turn to take his place again izzit? LOL.

I remember last time, I verballe slap your CB-face until your face swollen like gold-fish and then you “chiu tat sai” and ran away with your “ku ku jiao” stuck inside your own rear bungh0le. LOL.

Nevermind, like I said, I welcome you back since “ZhenziDumb” seems to be MIA or KIA after too many “Xperimental mRNA Jabs” liao? LOL.

So, “PAP Mandate Strong”, I’m sure you took at least 2 jabs since you often believe “PAP Jab Mandate Strong” right? LOL.

Then, you still want to “Ya Ya” talk about China like you know s**t. LOL.

Only about last month, China car prices drop and BMW X3i cost only SGD 43k lah and no need COE. You drive as long as the car can continue moving. LOL.

So, in some areas Chinese actually has better cost of living metrics than Sinkiepore. They have caught up in many ways that “blur sotongs” like “PAP Mandate Strong” still clueless lor. Yes?/No? LOL.

Tech: Yup, a brand new AUDI A6 is less than SG$ 40,000. Technically, no road tax, no COE and no usage expiry as long as after 10 years can still pass inspection. 1st 6 years no need inspection, then 2 years inspection till 10 years old, then yearly inspection. Exception being if car involved in accident, then inspection is required yearly.
