Not enough good jobs for locals

That day my friend told me about this very worrying trend of more and more jobs being temporary basis.

Many been saying more and more jobs offer, all actually only available for 6 months period after that cancel, will have to be renewed. I find this trend very worrying, because there is no job security like that, work 6 months end up being jobless against. It is not worth it.

My friend has been finding it hard to find jobs in this market. The government talks a good deal about creating good jobs, but Singaporeans do not want jobs like this. The government comes in and say they are going to reduce foreigners. In the end only cut those low-paying jobs Singaporeans do not want to do. What’s the matter with them?

My friend has tried very long to find a good proper job where can have a career, but all the companies who get back to him are either stingy, pushy or just trying to lowball him without giving much in return. They package their ridiculous demands as some kind of “challenge” and claim their salaries are “competitive” when it is not high enough for locals to support a family. I notice it is common for many SMEs to be doing this, as they are largely reliant on hiring Malaysian PRs if enough locals turn them down. This should be the kind of foreigners we cut in our country! Not cut those jobs that Singaporeans also don’t want to do. My friend doesn’t have good degree or diploma, but he has a good attitude and is willing to go the extra mile if a company will give him the chance to shine. Many companies in the CBD refuse to even grant him an interview, even when he’s applying for basic admin jobs, and as my friend prefers a more prestigious company, he is out of luck.

The government should focus more efforts on hiring our own Singaporeans instead of always relying on foreign talents who are not as loyal. It is a shame when we work hard in our own country but end up no employer want us just because they only care about degrees and diplomas, or worse, foreigners.

The PAP isn’t doing anything to help PMETs, otherwise the magical 3% jobless rate would have come down a long time back. So many delivering makan for Foodpanda or driving for Grab tells you the reality of the situation on the ground. Not only that our poly and university graduates are having problems securing jobs too.

Jobs are plentiful online, just go check Jobstreet. The problem is that most of them are from recruitment agencies who wouldn’t even be bothered to call you up much less arrange for an interview. And those low paying jobs (Anything under $2500) are plentiful as well but how do you survive on such a low salary?

Our SMEs all cannot make it one lah, they are facing issues with paying rent and all ngeow chee ngeow lan when it comes to salary. So of course when PAP says that a company can have x% of foreigners all faster quickly employ as many as possible to hit that quota. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were companies hiring just PRs, work permit, S and E pass holders entirely since PRs are considered as “locals” by PAP.

So vote wisely in the next election or else say hello to 9% GST in the next 2 years!

There are two options for your friend

    1. STOP voting in the current bunch of retarded clowns – this is being a prostitute anyway.

    2. Work as a male prostitute in Desker Road

    3. Kiss FT a** and get a job as their prostitute

All three are prostitutes. It just depends which hole you want filled.

Need to do more for a local.
Was shock to see specialist clinic here with so many FT staff.
Such jobs should be given to local as it should not be a problem for local to do it.
Worst some of the FTs are related and not registered for what they are doing.
Need to tighten the EP approval to prevent abuse and at the expense of job opportunities for local.

It’s like that during the 1990s to 2000s. Private sector all no job security. People come and go every day, week, motnh. If you held the job more than a year, very goot liau. Private sector anyhow sack people and employees can just quit if they don’t like it.

That’s why fewer want to get married, have children, housing and car loans. Because you need a stable job. Not one that last a few months.

This country is being run into the ground by people whose morals are money based.

  • Stop unfair practice:

Short-term contracts give unfair advantage to employers. If they can find another cheaper hire, they will simply not renew your contract. Unless there are laws to protect employees against exploitation and unfair practice by unscrupulous employers, there will be no job security and stability for families. Employees should received their confirmations within 3 months after probation and protected in their jobs by labor laws against unfair practices.

S’pore is economically dead! Those who can migrate, have already done it. Those who can’t or refuse, they are “cooked” & ready to be served! There is no future in S’pore especially for the young!

Preference for foreigners boils down to one thing; labour immobility! The employer holds the foreign worker by his b***s or by her t**s. So simple, yet people don’t understand, imploring the govt to do something, anything but in the end, nothing! This govt can’t be bothered. It’s all about foreign investments. The foreign capital provider, investor calls the tune, not the PAP govt. Understand the Investment equation & it becomes clear!

Local PMEs are suffering in S’pore because MNCs had already migrated to lower cost economies. This is called the Globalization process.

How can S’pore attract Major Foreign Manufacturing activities when the operating costs are so high? And S’pore educational system is so out of touch with the real world! And the PAP govt is imposing a educational (tertiary) quota on locals when they should focus on broad-based coding for all things Internet as well as on STEM subjects. Reading, Mathematics & Academic testing were old-school criteria. PAP are still stuck on their old ways! They sprout the need for more creativity & innovation but they themselves don’t even understand the terms.

S’pore under the PAP govt is only an intermediary Economy! The PAP govt can only exploit short-term windows of economic, business opportunity which closes very quickly or can be easily replicated by lower cost economies (Me, too economies) – the typical business migration overseas story. And that is why the PAP’s constant narrative for Economic Restructuring becoming so alarmingly consistent every economic downturn.

People who can’t do critical thinking deserved their fate!

Many Malaysians set up businesses in Sg, they can avoid paying levies and cpf to workers here. They would employ their own. Look at the situation at the checkpoints: more than sixty thousands motorcycles coming in daily, countless Malaysian private buses also daily, long que of Malaysians also walk in daily. How many of these Malaysian came to work illegally without permit. The mygov of course knew it. My are planning to increase more motorcycles checkout points and also wanted to build covered pedestrian walkway. It is to let more in to work illegally in sg. Note that I didn’t say migration to a Western country! Just only migration!

This is not a criticism but you need to think out-of-the-box here!

Migration is a standard choice if one wants to have & enjoy a higher standard of living than you could have in S’pore! Otherwise, feel free to suffer under PAP rule in S’pore! It’s your choice!

For the young ones, of course migration to a Western country hold more promise for them. What future do they have in S’pore? No need for me to elaborate further!

Don’t forget that Western countries don’t have the open-door foreign migration policies that plagued S’poreans in S’pore re: reverse discrimination & low wages.

Also, there are minimum wage criteria & legislation to ensure you have enough to feed yourself. The law & mechanism actually protects against employee exploitation. Are there any protection for locals in S’pore? Isn’t there a saying in S’pore, You die is your business?

There are also welfare protection scheme (welfare payments) for people who are out of jobs or seeking employment. The worst situation in the West are still so much better than in S’pore!

Your thinking show your irrational fear of the West without really exploring the options. Your fear will kill you!

What you described “tons of immigrants” were only a small percentage whereas for S’pore between 2004-2011, the number is 40% increase in total population!

No Western country can do what S’pore does! They would have been voted out from power! Again, what are you saying then? Are you blind? Or do you have eyes in S’pore to see so many foreigners?

For the old & for retirees, there are actually Silver Hair Retirement schemes in our regional neighbours. You could rent out the HDB flat & use the rental proceeds to live comfortably overseas. Why suffer in S’pore where the cost of living is so high & everything so expensive!

These people who can think out-of-the-box to make their lives more comfortable & relaxing. Those who can’t spent their wasted time griping at the neighbourhood kopi-tiam griping about the PAP. But come election time, they secretly marked “X” next to the lightning symbol. Are you one of them?

The days are numbered for borderless movement of people.
There is increasing scrutiny for tax Haven and restrictions for people who game the system. New global tax rules are coming into effect and SG is forced to go with that.
Surely anyone can choose the moving option but rather than betting on something you cannot control, do the right thing and set this place right again. No only is this right, it is a common sense thing to do as this is your home, the place to be.
