Taiwan may offer valuable lessons on how to curb its spread

I would rather not play the blame game and support our Government’s efforts to fight this dastardly disease in the face of the explosive spread of the virus globally. However, on several fronts we have already failed miserably and we cannot cry over spilt milk; I will no doubt raise these failures at the appropriate juncture but now is not the time to undermine the efforts of everyone involved in fighting the virus.

In the meantime, there are still nevertheless important lessons for us to learn right now to combat the spread of Covid-19 and we should learn from Taiwan for example.

The article posted at this link is worth reading to find out what Taiwan has done that we are not doing:

“As countries around the world grapple with the coronavirus, Taiwan may offer valuable lessons on how to curb its spread….

……Of the 100-plus countries and territories affected, Taiwan has the lowest incidence rate per capita — around 1 in every 500,000 people — for a place that is located so close to China and with so much travel to and from.

What lessons can Taiwan teach the world so other countries can stem the spread of the virus?”

  • Speaking Out:

Sounds great but there is a major flaw and entirely no wisdom in the writer thoughts.

The flaw is not identifying the danger of NOT effectively fighting the virus that could lead to a out of control pandemic situations causing more disasters than not.

The problem is – Are they fighting or protecting the properties prices for the rich. While other countries are actively fighting, busy locking down and enforcing wearing of mask, Singapore continues and only requires 14 days self quarantine for visitors and exemption for Malaysians. Where is the LOGIC?

Support the government by courageously speaking out what seems to be wrong than keeping quiet and assume that they can handle it. Everyone is inexperience here including the PAP themselves. Speaking out is not Opposition the PAP. It is no time for them to play arrogant hero here.

I see them dragging their feet worrying that the fallen economy will have a devastating effect of them keeping into power than seriously fighting the virus for Singaporeans.

  • It's Not A Flu:

To begin with, it’s not a flu. Taiwan ignore the early advisories from the WHO (which is a threat to world health), which most countries fell into and suffer terribly. Taiwan has experts who took charge of the situation and the president did not meddle with it. Thus, decision made can be swift and logical, not muddle with economic and relation emotions (and still calling it logical). Taiwan has leaders who are a few steps ahead of WHO, while most countries are lead by followers of WHO (which works closely with the CCP).

“I would rather not play the blame game and support our Government’s efforts to fight this dastardly disease in the face of the explosive spread of the virus globally. ”

It is of course logically sound and being politically correct not to engage in a “blame game”. However pointing out the failures of the PAPie govt. because of its incompetence, arrogance and complacency does not amount to being engaged in a “blame game”.

The PAPie govt’s failures for its earlier failures which have given rise to so many victims should be exposed, while not distracting from many of the govt’s recommendations for reducing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

    These are mutually exclusive.

  • PAPVID-20:

Imagine if it were lhl and his 4G leaders governing Taiwan instead, how many COVID-19 cases will there be in Taiwan? Only 50?

    Let’s see…..

Taiwan govt was fast to ban Chinese travellers almost a week earlier than the pap.
Taiwan foresee the importance of mask and made sure they’ve adequate supply for everybody while lhl and his ministers kept telling singaporeans wearing mask is not necessary.
Taiwan govt prioritised citizens’ safety but pap’s first thought is always about the economy.

Sg, so small and so far from China, we already see 226 cases compared to Taiwan’s fifty.

Taiwanese are so lucky! If pap is their govt, they probably would have to add 2 more zeros behind their “50″.

  • UniQ:

I did mentioned how Taiwan switch on their guard when the virus first started in my past postings. How Taiwan has arrive to be able to cope with this COVID-19 outbreak is mainly :

    1. The distrust towards China that Taiwan will always be in their crosshair. Thus a virus attack cannot be ruled out. Thus, the extremely high alert.

    2. The entire ruling regime view the control solely on the 100+ total isolation Beds and resource of 4 medical staff to 1 patient available. Thus, They will not take in any non citizen paid or not.

    3. The entire ruling gahmen is under the people microscope. research ‘Korean Fish’ wanted the Taiwanese Businessman back to Taiwan for safe haven, and how the entire population acted against it, resulted his ousting.

    4. The Country Health and Medical Board are entirely run independently with the sole duty to look after Taiwanese. Thus its own manufacturing of essential PPEs and not directed by non medical professionals like politicians.

Now, see how misinformed Singaporeans are by some that try to masks what’s going on around us by throwing undue fear from all sorts of rhetoric accept what is right to do now and what was wrongly done by idiots related to the elitists.

Covid19,SARS or even the RECENT RESURFACING OF TB show clearly WORLD LEADERS NEED TO RE-THINK HOW *GLOBALISATION* should BE HEADED GOING FORWARD.

DESPITE OF GLOBALISED LABOUR MOBILITY,GLOBAL GROWTH HAS BEEN ATROCIOUS.
DURING THE LAST 15/20 YEARS OF SO-CALLED GLOBALISATION,MAJORITY OF MIDDLE CLASS BECAME RELEGATED TO BECOME NEW POOR EVEN AS MORE BILLIONAIRE$$$ were being created !

Now,HOW CAN THERE BE REAL ECONOMIC GROWTH WHEN AGGREGATE DEMAND SLOWED EFFECTIVELY?

TOO MUCH OF THE GLOBAL INCOME HAS GONE TO TOO FEW PEOPLE (THE BILLIONAIRES) N THIS IS ANTI-GROWTH.

COVID IS JYST NATURE’S WAY OF MAKUNG THE GREEDY REALISE THEIR ERRANT WAYS.

  • Spore So Special ?:

Many countries have recorded deaths, yet Singapore is so special with no death at all. Remember the Bangladesh worker who was reported to be in very serious condition and have to use breathing apparatus and many others who are reported to be in critical stage. Yet there was no death reported.

Is there a cover up by the PAP like in the previous election , they announced the deaths after the election result was confirmed ?

If really no death, then Singapore can teach the other countries how to handle the COVID 19 without any death.

Frankly speaking, the real lesson here was Taiwan people mandated Tsai . Therefore giving Xi and CCP the middle finger.

After that its easier for Tsai to carry out the necessary measures without worrying about offending to China or not.

Whereas Sg with many people like Redbean, great asia,…. Writing nonsense articles e.g. USA pearl harbor sneak attack at China ….. Apparently the other way around.

One attempt to get round this is to presume that we all want to be rational. But cognition is not magnetic, rationality is not normative – I may well have no reason to want to be rational.

I’m not going to stop smoking, drinking or eating copious amounts of shortbread because it’s rational to stop. Reason is only applicable in so far as it allows for your chosen goals, and, possibly, in selecting those same goals. But I imagine 70% of our lives have nothing to do with reason, and don’t need to…”
