The problem with Singapore’s poor migrant worker treatment

The problem with Singapore’s poor migrant worker treatment and cramping them into poor housing facilities means that in times of epidemics, our system isn’t built to cope. When we don’t care for our workers, we don’t build a resilient system to cope.

COVID-19 should be a teaching lesson for Singapore that a low-cost high-profit growth-at-all-costs model means we are sacrificing the resilience and strength of our society in the long run. If we do not want a repeat of our systems being too weak to cope, we need to build spaces and systems (transportation, etc) that can have the flexibility to cope in times of crisis.

  • Bangala dormitories:

There are so many Bangla working in Town councils their bodies exposed to rubbish fumes every day they open the chutes twice or so.

    It’s easiest they get infected.

Problem now is the Statistics seem to hide what type of jobs they work in for those infected. Much earlier, there were reported bangala infected. But no details what jobs they worked in.

Is it town council jobs, HDB HIP toilet Reno or others?

So the more info seems to be hidden the more it’s interesting to know why the hiding if any.

But I bet 99% Singaporeans cannon discern.

if not like that, how the white idiotic doggy gang and businesses can claim that daft sinkies are choosy and lazy and will not want to do low-wage “get-hands-dirty” work FOR THE WHITE IDIOTS to be liberal in their open-leg policy ???

  • Sufficient Masks:

Resorting to Bangla is a sign that Singapore productivity is low and sg I built by third world standard workers.

I respect banglas but they are cheapest in the world for a reason. They are humble and hardworking. Nevertheless, it shows Singapore can be higher standard than it is.

And why our jobs are paid lower wages than befits a first world citizen. Citizen leave the construction sector because this sector offer third world salaries. But excuses crafted to hide the real reasons. People are fooled to think it’s because citizens are lazy. If paid fairly , citizens would love to work hard too.
