Should we still put blind faith in people who do not think long-term

My question is, the Singapore PAP government now says it is trying to move migrant workers out of the dormitories to prevent #COVID19 infection.

But has the PAP apologized for turning a blind eye over the last few decades, while these migrant workers were living in their dilapidated conditions? They have been warned over and over again disaster would happen, but it fell on deaf ears. Migrant workers’ lives didn’t seem to matter.

Lee Hsien Loong only now says, “we will care” for the migrant workers. Where were they before all these happened? Did they care for the migrant workers over the last few decades?

Did they ensure the migrant workers could earn higher wages instead of the S$500 or so wages they earn today? Instead, the PAP government took levies from the companies that hire these migrant workers by as much as S$950 a worker. In other words, for every migrant worker who earns S$500 or so, the government collects twice as much as what they earn for itself.

If the levy goes to the worker instead, these workers could earn as much as S$1,450 each thereabouts. A higher salary to account for the cost of living and better work conditions could mean Singaporeans might be willing to do these jobs too. In Australia, construction workers can earn about S$3,000.

Mind you, the S$1,450 is what companies have to pay anyway. So, why should the company pay this money to the government instead of directly to the worker, to help the worker earn into for basic living in Singapore? Also, by paying them low wages, it depresses wages across the board.

Has the PAP government apologized for any of these? Has the PAP government apologized for its missteps for its management of the coronavirus?

This is not even a matter of hindsight. It is a matter of basic respect to individuals, regardless who they are. It is this that the PAP could not even provide basic decency for, that has resulted in the problems we face today.

Only now do we start to care because we realize the impact on our lives. But groups helping out low-income individuals in Singapore have warned us this could happen. We pretended it wouldn’t affect us.

And now it has.

Should we still put blind faith in people who do not think long-term and broadly about the policies on our society and lives, and continue to ignore the impact it has on our livelihoods?

Let me educate you the truth, Singaporeans.

Roy is ungrateful and a disgrace by accusing our scholarly PAP of neglecting the FT.

We PAP did not neglect the FW. It is the opposition that forces us PAP to lower our PAP priority care for the FW.

If opposition had not been shouting Singaporeans First, we PAP would have care for the FT.

Because we PAP care for Singaporeans First, that is why FT become lower priority.

It is not we PAP do not care for FT, it is the Opposition that demand care for Singaporean First resulting in we PAP put FT as lower priority.

    This is facts.

  • Disgraceful Govt:

Roy, you are a honest and a respected citizen of Singapore and all

Singaporeans support you well for all your past contributions questioning the Government on CPF matters.

For speaking up and questioning weird and unfair CPF policies, the Emperor came very hard on you. Singaporeans will never forget this. We only realised your good work after POFMA was introduced, as we have start to see the wicked part of the Govt.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, there is also Good News, that Karma is now at PAP’s door step, unleashing its anger and fury over the white fat cats.

Its payback time after 55 years of Oppressions and suppressions. Emperor’s dynasty is coming to an end soon. Empress is trying to win back support of Singaporeans, but it making things worse for the Emperor.

On behalf of All Singaporeans (including 70% sheep) Thank you Roy !!

That’s the one reason why SG must has minimum wage.

But minimum wage would deprive the PAP govt collecting levy from FW.

Imagine how many foreign workers in SG, and how much the PAP collected.

Anyway because of this Covid-19, the govt is shifting the FWs out of dorms for safe distancing. After this episode, everything would be back to normal. MOM would go back to sleep or do whatever its Minister does in small space.

Whether to put a blind faith in PAP will depend on the 70%. 30% already saw through the hopeless and useless PAP. In SG, we have 7 out of 10 working adults are graduates of all kind from all over the whole. The question is; “are they smart enough, smarter than the Malaysians?”.

Can we continue to allow a “Private company” to use public money to do business? But when people speculated that the CEO of this “private company” earns S$100 million annually, they were POFMAed by the govt, why?

Citizen of Singapore, please think and do the right thing coming GE!!!

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Can they even think? That the large cramped foreign workers dorms are big public health risk is just common sense yet nothing significant was done to “secure it” until the virus hit it big-time. A catastrophic and unforgivable failure in risk management.

SG can be proud to be “once considered the “gold standard” by many nations for its measures to address the coronavirus outbreak, the Singaporean Government is now facing criticism due to the rising number of local cases confirmed for Covid-19, as well as other issues that have recently surfaced, including poor living conditions at foreign workers’ dormitories, where 70 percent of new coronavirus cases are linked.”

Who should have imposed and demanded the quarantine plan requirement?
With that, the question is: Who is the commissioner?

A search of the Government Gazette revealed that no commissioner has been appointed under the Act since it was passed into law. In fact, only deputy and assistant commissioners have been appointed so far.

The two assistant commissioners are Sharon Sam Wei Ling and Loh Meng Siang while the deputy commissioner is Shireen Banu d/o Gulam Mohamed. They were all appointed between April and December of 2017.

Given that there isn’t a commissioner who has been appointed under the case, this would mean that the purview of the Act falls directly under the Manpower Minister who would be in charge.

NO MORE STUPID EXCUSE! MANPOWER MINISTER IS NEGLIGENT IN FAILING TO MAKE SURE THAT QUARANTINE PLAN IS IN PLACE AT ALL THE DORMS & NO APPOINTMENT OF A COMMISSIONER TO ENFORCE THE LEGISLATION & LICENSING CONDITIONS “that would require operators to ensure better facilities and maintenance, which should include developing quarantine plans.”

THE COVID-CLUSTERS BREAKOUT AT THE FW DORMS COULD HAVE BEEN MITIGATED!
