  • Harder Truths:

The idiots have missed the point that population density is a key factor in transmission. Why did HK and Taiwan lockdown so quickly – precisely because they knew there would be no way to control the infection once it got into areas where people live in close quarters.

This is pure common sense as well as safety first. Trying to keep the $G millions flowing from their business friends seems to be more important – until it was too late.

SINGAPORE – The rules for displaying the national flag have been amended so that people can fly the crescent and five stars from now until September, the Government said on Saturday (April 25).

The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) said that the move is in response to public requests to display the flag during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak as a rallying symbol.

MCCY Minister Grace Fu said the flag is “a call for us to work together and stand resilient in the face of a crisis like this”.

President Halimah Yaacob has agreed to the change in the Singapore Arms and Flag and National Anthem Rules, bringing forward the period in which the flag may be displayed.

Annually, people are already allowed to fly the flag in this manner from July 1 to Sept 30 during the usual period of National Day celebrations…. “Unquote.

Response : Why the rules need to change to display Singapore flag to be so much earlier? Why Sept30 is the same end date as before and push it later to show resilient for corona virus? Possibly the few reasons below :
    1) Displaying flag is not for corona virus, it may be to show PM the signs signal that the ground is ready as all those evil PAP women group are ready to vote PM and his group and that signal is important to start the general election immediately.
    2) Good time to sell Singapore flag and earn more big bucks. And longer selling time till National day will be suggestive of more revenue sales from National flag of Singapore giving the evil woman wing more money to profits.

Reported on TOC Website :Quote – “New Zealand PM: COVID-19 is currently “eliminated” and the country had “won the battle”
    Roxanne by Roxanne 27/04/2020….

Previously on New Zealand’s battle against the pandemic of COVID-19, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced an extension for the nationwide Alert Level 4 lockdown until 27 April.

Following the exit of the Level 4 alert, the country will go into Level 3 for two weeks, and further decisions will be made on 11 May.

Earlier today, New Zealand had declared that it had stopped community transmission of COVID-19 and Ms Ardern asserted that the coronavirus was “currently” eliminated. This was prompted by the record of single figures of new cases for several days. One confirmed case was recorded as of yesterday (26 April).

According to BBC News, this piece of news was released hours before the country exits Level 4 alert – the toughest level of social restrictions.

It was reported that from Tuesday onwards, non-essential businesses, healthcare, and education activity will be able to resume. However, most people are still required to stay home at all times and avoid all social interactions.

Although Ms Ardern stated that the nation will open up the economy in the Level 3 alert, people are still not allowed to resume their social activities.
    ….
“We are opening up the economy, but we’re not opening up people’s social lives,” said Ms Ardern.

    Clarification on “elimination”
New Zealand’s Director-General of Health, Ashley Bloomfield, explained that “elimination” did not mean there would be no new cases, but the authorities would know where their new cases come from.

Mr Bloomfield noted that the low number of new cases in recent days “does give us confidence that we have achieved our goal of elimination”.

Ms Ardern also announced that New Zealand had “won the battle” as there was no widespread undetected community transmission in the nation. However, noting that complacency will pose a threat towards national safety, Ms Ardern urged that the country “must remain vigilant” if they wanted to maintain the positive progress.

New Zealand had avoided “the worst”
By deciding to close its borders during the early stage of the outbreak, New Zealand reported a total of 1,469 COVID-19 cases and 18 death cases to date, according to New Zealand’s Ministry of Health.

Ms Ardern hinted that modelling indicated the country could be observing more than 1,000 cases per day if the lockdown had not been imposed so early.

She went on to say that the country could never know how bad the situation would have been, but through their “cumulative actions”, the nation had “avoided the worst”…. “Unquote.

When this pandemic began, we were infected just like other countries in the world. Italy, Spain, France, Germany, all recorded tremendous increase in a relatively short time.

To-day, the countries like Italy and Spain with some of the highest infections and deaths have begun to recover and slowly began opening up. Why? Because they imposed strict LOCKDOWN.

But not Singapore. Why? Because of the “Ceircuit Breaker”. It does not convey the seriousness of this situation. Nobody seems to take it seriously.

Please go to LOCKDOWN! NO IFS AND BUTS AND MAYBES – STRICT LOCKDOWN. IT HAS PROVEN TO WORK. Circuit Breaker did not work!!!

    Ministry of Health News Highlights
RISK ASSESSMENT RAISED TO DORSCON ORANGE
    7TH FEB 2020
Contact tracing for Case 29 (announced on 6 February) so far has not established a link to previous cases or travel history to mainland China.

    2. Today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed three additional cases of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in Singapore. Contact tracing is underway; as of now, we have not uncovered links to previous cases or travel history to China.

    3. As there are now a few local cases without any links to previous cases or travel history to China, we have stepped up our risk assessment from DORSCON Yellow to DORSCON Orange.

Precautionary measures calibrated to manage escalating scenarios

    4. We have planned for such a scenario involving community spread. Since last month, the Government has implemented a series of defensive measures to reduce the risk of imported cases and community transmission. We have strengthened these measures progressively as the situation escalated, both globally and in Singapore.

    5. With the heightened risk posture of DORSCON Orange, we will be introducing the following additional precautionary measures to minimise the risk of further transmission of the virus in the community:

Enhance business continuity capability at workplaces
    9. All workplaces should step up their business continuity plans, and prepare for widespread community transmission. The business continuity plans can include allowing employees to telecommute or dividing the workforce into segregated teams.

    16. People who are unwell should stay at home, and wear a mask if they must go out, such as to see the doctor. In particular, they should avoid coming into close and sustained proximity with others. Workers who come across customers who are unwell, should immediately advise customers to leave and go see a doctor.

I JUST HIGHLIGHTED THE ABOVE POINTS FROM MOH WEBSITE WHEN THEY RAISED THE COVID RISK ASSESSMENT FROM YELLOW TO ORANGE.
AT THIS JUNCTURE MOH ONLY RAISED CONCERNS OF WIDESPREAD COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION WITH ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY MOH FAIL TO SEE THE RED FLAGS AT FWs DORMS AS THEY ONLY SPELL OUT MEASURES FOR SCHOOLS, HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS, WORKPLACES & INDIVIDUALS STRESSING ON THE NEED TO AVOID COMING INTO CLOSE & SUSTAINED PROXIMITY WITH OTHERS!

IT IS THIS STINKING THINKING TO LEAVE OUT THE FOREIGN WORKERS(DORMS) FROM THE COMMUNITY THAT RESULTED IN THE EXPLOSION OF COVID CLUSTERS AT THE DORMS!

WHY MOH LEFT OUT THE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES FOR DORMS WHICH ARE PART OF THE COMMUNITY????

THE SPIKE OF COVID CASES AT THE DORMS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED!

    Tio boh?

A Malaysian newspaper has an article on our Circuit Breaker’.

    Here are some succinct quotes:

“Just by this ‘circuit breaker’, shows the degree of disconnection between the elite government and general public.”

“Despite Singaporeans having adequate knowledge with a good command in English, I believe that the common people would not understand what ‘circuit breaker’ means. They might know the electrical ‘circuit breaker’, but what does it has to do with COVID-19?” he added.

Citing the word “lockdown”, “movement control order” or “stay-at-home orders” which clearly stated its meaning and purpose, Mr Tay stressed that the important government policies should be conveyed in a way that is easy to be understood for the people.

SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 528 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore on Tuesday (April 28), taking the total count to 14,951.

Eight Singaporeans and permanent residents are among the new patients.

Migrant workers living in dormitories continue to make up the vast majority of the remaining cases.

The MOH said more details will be released later on Tuesday.

On Monday, the ministry reported 799 new cases, including 764 foreign workers living in dormitories.

A total of 12,183 of the 323,000 migrant workers living in dormitories – about 3.77 per cent – have tested positive, putting the spotlight on their living conditions in these dormitories.

The MOH said on Monday that it picked up many more cases in dormitories because of extensive testing. Most of these cases have a mild illness and are being monitored in community isolation facilities or the general wards of hospitals…. “Unquote.

Even the MOH’s Director of Medical Services has now admitted that the daily reported figures UNDER-REPRESENT the actual number of residents infected with the COVID-19 virus at this link, together with the article below:

Singapore says COVID-19 cases may be higher than official tallies
    April 28, 2020 – 1 hour ago

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Singapore’s top medical authority said on Tuesday the number of migrant workers infected with coronavirus may be higher than official tallies due to a priority to isolate those staying in dormitories with mass outbreaks.

The Southeast Asian island nation of 5.7 million people has nearly 15,000 confirmed coronavirus infections, one of the highest totals in Asia, largely because of outbreaks in cramped dormitories housing more than 300,000 mostly South Asian workers.

“When we report figures of confirmed and verified infections, the number of foreign workers that are in the dormitories that we are keeping a close eye on with respiratory symptoms may in fact be bigger than the actual number that we report,” the health ministry’s director of medical services Kenneth Mak said.

Mak said any discrepancy in the official numbers would eventually be ironed out as these workers would be tested before they could leave isolation and return to work.

(Reporting by John Geddie; Editing by Andrew Heavens)

In fact I have long suspected that the figures MOH have reported might not truly reflect the extent of infection among the FW living in the dorms. So when TRE Techie said, about a week ago, that he could no longer access MOH’s figures, I have stated that I would no longer trust nor do I have confidence in the MOH’s figures. Now the Director of Medical Services, Assoc Professor Kenneth Mak has validated my views…………get rid of the emperor without clothes for his epic failures ………..or face more disasters.
