Acknowledging A Real Problem

The Stay-At-Home Notices For foreign workers in the construction industry, who live outside of dormitories, have been extended for another 14 days from 4 May until 18 May. The cases of infections amongst these workers have continued to rise.

Peoples Voice had raised concerns about the transmissions from this group of workers previously, as they live amongst the local community.

That is why Peoples Voice will continue to demand that large scale testing be conducted on the general population. We do not believe that the numbers being reported currently for local cases ( outside of foreign workers either living in dormitories or away from dormitories) are an accurate reflection of the actual number of people in our community who carry the virus. It would be dangerous for the authorities to make any decision on easing of the lockdown restrictions unless and until more accurate data is available.

Straits Times: Coronavirus: Pulling out all the stops to save lives, and the economy

The problem with PAP is that it is REACTIVE INSTEAD OF PROACTIVE. It did not pull out all the stops PREVENTING the pandemic at the foreign workers dorms until it was too late. The public health risk when the pandemic started was obvious.

  • No Way:

Say NO to Emperor becoming the next Minister Mentor (MM). His Dynasty is dead and did not even wake up when Singapore is in a crisis due to pure incompetency of the so called the “4G” Team.

We will never know Empress’s salary if he becomes MM.

Singaporeans, he has been asking for strong mandate. Please do NOT give.

If you don’t ease down a bit, more small businesses will close down. Long-term lockdown is detrimental to every Singaporean’s survival. No use if prolonged total lockdown curb the spread of the virus but creates a new social problem–unemployment, too many jobless foreigners wandering around and resort to crimes in order to survive. There must be a balance somewhere.

  • Top Money for Top Talents:

    Dear Lim Tean,
Honestly, there is no need for you to tell us PAP what to do.

We PAP have all the talented, quality people at the top.

And I quote on 23 January 2008 what our founding father said.

    https://sgforums.com/forums/10/topics/304875/
And we are meritocratic; we pay top money for top talent, both local and foreign. In other words we have quality people right on top,” said Mr Lee.

You can screen capture it all you want.

Josephine Teo is talented and is in touch with the ground where people live in one room flats.

That why Josephine Teo know you can have sex even in small space like one room flat.

  • Taiwan DPP Lies:

    Dear Singaporeans,
The truth is that it is not Taiwan DPP government that did well in managing the Covid 19 situation. It is stupid Commie China who help them.

    How you ask ?

Well, backside poking DPP President Tsai had been antagonizing Commie China with independence talk since last year July.

And, this anger China who retaliate by stopping unclothed, unclean virus infected mainlanders tourist from visiting Taiwan. So, in a way, stupid Commie China help stop the virus spread to Taiwan.

Singapore has Failures and Weaknesses and Rooms for improvements as proven by this Mishandling of Dormitories.

But the 70% majority Try to cover-up their mistakes.

By this evidence, we can see though SG is not the worst of countries, she can be Better by 70%.

Just a week before THEY *reported* high numbrrs of infected dorm-stayers,many FWs were still MINGLING with sgs at the malls, supermarts n other public spaces.
I just wonder if more sgs could have been passed the germ without knowing as NO PROPER TEST has been conducted on them?

Scientists have oredy advise TESTING as people can be infected without exhibiting symptoms but that does not they cannot pass on the germs to more vulnerable n weaker immunity people?

Throwing a safety net casted belatedly is unwise unless we are sure PEOPLE HAVE TESTED NEGATIVE ON A DECENTLY NATION-WIDE SCALE?

I ventured to look around my CONDO N i ovserved FTs are NOT WORKING FROM *HOME* at all???!Many are idling n kaypohing around ,busy-bodying their sgs neighbours.. .

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits Times: 100 days into Covid-19 in Singapore, DPM Heng Swee Keat on the lessons learnt so far

One sure lesson I learned from the pandemic is that Singapore needs regime change. PAP has fumbled its way through the pandemic. First, there was a shortage of mask so do not use them unless sick. Then must wear mask when going outside. Also , the public health risk posed by the foreign workers dorms was so obvious. But PAP waited until they got infected by the virus before acting. Now it is still “firefighting” with no end in sight and millions of taxpayers money spent daily on foreign workers.

PAP was reactive, not proactive. PAP FAILED AGAIN.

There is no such thing as no CoV anymore. We arew living in a new world.
It is not the blue-collar foreign workers anymore. What about white collar FT? What about tourists? What about anyone coming to $G for any reason?

Deal with it. The CoV is here to stay. We somehow get back to our lives somehow as there is no other way to go about life anymore.

    …..
Actress-host Sharon Au had plans to leave Paris and return home for good when the coronavirus outbreak hit Singapore in February. At that time, the country was the third to report cases of the virus and one of the worst-hit outside China.

Sharon, who is working as an investment director in a private equity firm in France, said she was concerned for her mother. She revealed this during a session of YES 933’s Gu De Dai Zai Jia (Good Stay Home), a celebrity interview segment streamed live on Facebook on Wednesday (April 29)….. “Unquote.

Response : Paris no good? working as an investment director in a private equity firm in France? So maybe corona virus killed off a lot of investments in France and so maybe need to run road back to Singapore to avoid answering all those investments losses by investors. No need a lot of rocket scientist brain to figure guess. Director in private equity firm can earn millions of dollars, isn’t it? If good pasture in France, who wants to come back.

    @ Zhenzidan

Brick-&-Mortar retail, restaurants, airline transportation-related and crowd-massing entertainment/arts will die.

I suspect a lot of en-bloc developer stuck with unfinished construction will go under – these titanic will sink together with them the highly-leveraged sampans (buyers of condos) tied to their hull. Most people naively assumes that property is the safe, if not the safest, investments to heavenly wealth reach.

IT IS THE OPPOSITE because of gearing (borrowing) factor tied to economy and economy is cruelest of business collapse or retrenchments in the downturn.

No amount of fudging of employment statistic can hide reality. I suspect over 10% unemployed with absolutely no income for a year or even two. If hawkers reportedly struggle to survive selling food, I think other small business are simply prolonging their agony.

LIKE YOU SAID, FOREIGNERS WILL TURN TO STREET CRIME to survive whatever they can – women and elderly won’t feel safe walking the street in broad daylight.

THE POPULATION WHITE PAPER POLICY IS ANOTHER MONUMENTAL PAPpypolitics/PAPpynomic DISASTROUS FAILURE.

AND THEY WILL NEVER ADMIT IT more so when election is eye to kick off by them around the corner.

we have come to a satge where LOCK-DOWN has become necessary,LIKE IT OR NOT.
THE SPREAD is too far and wide becos of LACK OF FORESIGHT N TOTAL DEPENDENCE ON HIND-SIGHT TO GUIDE POLICY-MAKING???

A SHORT-TERM PAIN IS BETTER THAN LONGER TERM DISASTER.

THINGS CAN BE RE-GROUPED N RE-INITIATED AGAIN IF PEOPLE ARE TRULY SMART.

EARLIER ON,this could have been prevented to a larger extent and SG wont have to suffer the ‘stand-still’ for such length of time.

small businessmen will suffer much more than the biggie$,thats for sure, they TAK BOLEH TAHAN.

SOME SMEs may be cannibalised by larger competitors.

THIS IS LARGELY THE FAULT OF POOR GOVT INDECISIVENESS-MAKING IM E,PLOYING THE RIGHT MEASURES AT THE START.

A VACCINE MAY COME ONLY ONE YEAR’s CAUTION IS THE TIME OR SO to help alleviate the problems.

until then,CAUTION IS THE BETTER CHOICE even if there is economic set-back for the time being?

Our political leadership has simply made choices. And as this crisis unfolds many are looking like very bad choices. As this tide continues to go out, the real swimming naked moment will be when this new leadership are revealed for what they are.

“It’s only when the tide goes out that you learn who’s been swimming naked.” ~ Warren Buffett

Government bailouts and interest rate cuts will have minimal impact on the situation. They are effective only if there is sufficient economic activity to react to the stimuli. Will companies keep employees around when there is no demand? Will airlines keep employing all that personnel? Will restaurants and bars keep staff around doing nothing? The answer is obvious.

Unemployment and the longer they ensue, the less likely a fast recovery. If the average person doesn’t have a stable income and they’re behind in mortgages and debt servicing, it all collapses.

In 2008, subprime mortgage bubble popped caused chain reaction banking failures which froze banking activities causing businesses large and small, large scale layoffs and threatening global financial storms as well as finances. But what we’re experiencing now is a grand reset on an even unimaginable scale than 2008.

Well, the bounty is evaporating before our eyes. Will we act in time to salvage enough of it to matter to future generations?
