The obvious blunder of MOM threatening employers not to send their workers for COVID-19 testing

I am extremely surprised that no one in Parliament has pointed out the obvious blunder of MOM threatening employers not to send their FW for testing back in February when the first few cases of infection of FW were detected!

When you don’t do enough testing but only depended on contact tracing, of course you won’t find hidden asymptotic infections among those staying in dormitories!

The virus has one and half month free reining in these dormitories before the outbreaks imploded!

  • Interesting link:

In Iceland, nearly half of people with COVID-19 had no symptoms when they were swabbed for a scientific study. In the United States, preliminary results from a new antibody survey suggests as many as one in five New Yorkers may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus.

  • Be prepared:

Better to get more test kits and facilities ready..
More testings need to be done to control the spread among community…
Many are already infected without knowing it…based on results of testing done by other countries…

  • Sadly 70% dafts:

Make sure this is well documented so as to show the undiscerning public if this mistake turns out to cause another outbreak.

Up to today most of the 70% still did not discern the failure proven by the U-Turn on masks and the Dormitory issues long ago known to the gabrament

You know you don’t have a government for the people’s sake, but a company of corporate executives working for self-vested interests by means of the state apparatus. The foreign worker levy taxes on Singapore employers amount to about ten billions dollars a year?

Since mid-March, Asadul Alam Asif has watched nervously as Singapore reported more and more COVID-19 cases in migrant workers’ dormitories like the one where he lives.

The 28-year-old Bangladeshi technician counted himself lucky each day that nobody was infected in his housing block, where around 1,900 workers reside in cramped conditions that make social distancing impossible. To relieve congestion, Asif’s company rehoused some people, which left half of the 16 bunk-beds in his small room empty.

IT TAKES A VIRUS TO “OPEN BLIND EYES” TO SEE THE PLIGHT OF FWs LIVING IN CRAMPED DORMS CONDITIONS ETC!

As the coronavirus continues its insidious spread, Singapore’s outbreak suggests the danger of overlooking any population. Even when containment efforts appear to succeed in flattening the curve, keeping it that way remains a difficult, relentless endeavor.

“If we forget marginalized communities, if we forget the poor, the homeless, the incarcerated… we are going to continue to see outbreaks,” says Gavin Yamey, Associate Director for Policy at the Duke Global Health Institute. “This will continue to fuel our epidemic.”

IT TAKES A VIRUS TO HIGHLIGHT TO GOVT & EMPLOYERS THE DANGER OF OVERLOOKING MIGRANT WORKERS ETC WHICH ENGENDER OUTBREAKS!

Still, she said the authorities would “reflect and thoroughly look into the areas” where they could have done better “when this is over”.

IT TAKES A VIRUS TO COMPEL THE AUTHORITIES TO REFLECT & SEE WHERE TO DO BETTER FOR THE FWs DORMS ETC!

LET US THANK THE CORONAVIRUS FOR ITS INVALUABLE HELP!
