There is no risk of voting opposition parties to the house in this coming election

Workers Party (WP) is exemplary proven to the people to be able to manage a GRC that had no confidence reported by the mainstream media before they had won Aljunied GRC in 2011.

In fact, all these years have shown a slight improvement on democracy in Singapore’s constitution.

If WP can do it in an up task job without any supporting of the IT networks to reach the residents, I am confident that PSP and SDP etc.. can also do it in the digital year of 2020.

We can’t afford to look back during those days of “opposition come from no where and go to no where” if we look at the qualification of an alternative party’s candidate of today?

It is not fair to judge a person or candidate characters without putting him or her to the task?

No need to fear as the term only lasts 5 years for us to choose the right person again if the candidate could not perform?

LHL and HSK also repeatedly mentioned that we need years to build the economy again after the destruction of the handling of pandemic.

That’s proven that the taskforce are not saints either?

Even today education teaches us to think out of the box for changes.

As saying, there are debates and alternative suggestions , there are improvements to be made?

Vote at least 1/3 opposition MPs into the house to check on any Bill passed.

A Singaporean

The 70% know that it is better to Not have a One-Party state like NKorea.
    Who does not.
    Even the PAP knows that.
The pathological fear of the 70% prevent them from thinking and acting in the best interest of themselves and society.
Where did this fear come from?
60 years of MSM indoctrination; yes brainwashed—some of them may even drink Kool-aid if PAP ask them to.

Agree with most of what you stated but not the 1/3 quantum…Singaporeans in general are frustrated with the ruling party for quite a number of good reasons. Having had them willingly or unwillingly for the past 60 odd years is enough. About time we give our opposition members a chance and I am doing my part in advocating change..my stance is VTO.

THE GRC CONTRAPTION hid a lot of DUDS meant for the rubbish heap – no better than cockroaches creeping in via the gaps under the backdoor.

Some don’t know what to say, others talk nonsense and some talk queer like mad dogs anyhow bark – adding a comedy of colors and political farting that shame our peasantry.

The brain is the VERY LAST ORGAN THAT SURVIVE TILL THE END when all other organs have failed. And when that is demonstrably impaired, they should be discarded immediately or buried in a political coffin reserved for corpse, otherwise the country must sink just like LEE-jiapore in the last 15 years.

When Past Tense warned of casino over his dead body and promising to get up from his coffin to kick a*ses, his angry protest is evidencing that LEE-jiapore, to his informed knowledge, is already sinking and his presence failed to prevail – WE ALL KNOW THAT THE GRC GARBAGE have failed him and peasants in this land. He has gone to an involuntarily place of rest aka Tern Sua, never to return permanently.

    So how arh?

Even NMPs – outclassed those sneaked in via the backdoor – demonstrated shining performance.

    GRC should be scraped now.

You’re absolutely right !!! Today, the candidates in the opposition parties are equally qualified than the pappies, if not better …… hence, we should give them a chance to make some positive changes to the Singapore Politics instead of having ownself check ownself policies for so many years !!! Together, we must VTO & deny them 2/3 in parliament …..

Yes we should vote Opposition this time round.

If not, if the PAP wins again, it will be only one man running the show – Pinky. All the rest of the Ministers cannot speak up because their mouths have been pasted with the million dollar cheques. If they open their mouths, the cheques will fall out off and it will be very difficult for them to find another million dollar cheque from any other place.

Look at it this way. WP won a GRC in 2011 and PAP were shellshocked to lose not 1, but TWO overpaid useless good for nothings in one fell swoop. That stupid repent statement uttered by their now forever dead founder backfired too ha ha ha!

PAP grudgingly cut their pay after that. Previously no amount of debate would ever make them have a pay cut, it took a GRC loss to do so. The PGP was also introduced and 2 former PMs were demoted to MPs along with 3 other ministers.

So fellow Singaporeans, voting in opposition will not only send PAP a crystal clear message it will also force them to make changes OR ELSE.

So if the majority still are kiasee and want PAP to have more than 70% of parliament seats then be prepared for GST at 9% to be brought forward as well as another 4 to 5 years of fare hikes and even more non Singaporeans being let in on an already overcrowded island!

Areas near ‘Orch and Istanae ’ and ‘BKTimahHol’ are largely untouchable these days because the places are usually reserved for chiefs who bungled big time and still treasured as pets. Though, there are voices calling for some foreigner dorm to be built there and it’s really a good idea, it’s unlikely to materialise. History says a lot.

oxygen, its no longer about getting 1/3 of the seats anymore. You can win 2 or 3 or X more GRCs this election and secure 33 or 49% of the seats.

But you can also lose most or all of the seats the NEXT election.

You have to secure more than 50% or even 66% of the seats and you go all out to persecute the entire PAP, making sure they never return to power or even think or try to contest any GE in the future. and you have only 5 years (certainly not 52 man years) to the next election to eliminate them.

I don’t think we can solely blame it on true blue NS-liable Singaporeans for unable to vote more Alternative parties into parliament.

In United Nations 2018′s population estimate, more than 40% of Singapore population consist of foreigners turned citizens.

All these new citizens are of voting age and would give the votes to PAP out of gratitude.

Be mindful that the less than 60% true blue NS-liable Singaporeans, not all are eligible to vote. Some of these Singaporeans depend on PAP for survival, they need PAP to provide oxygen.

Anytime true blue Singaporeans are out voted by new citizens.

New citizens do not care what happens to Singapore, they love the mess created by PAP government, the messier the better. That way more of their countries folks could come to settle here. Example; we have more than 1 million ex-Malaysians Citizens, half of them don’t even stay in Singapore, they are citizen of convenience.

As long as new citizens stays at 40% or more, PAP is save.

  • Scared of no PAP?:

Apparently, many voters both hate and love PAP. They want to vote against PAP but they still want PAP to form the government. So they do not dare to vote against PAP.

Please be assured that PAP will form the next government. Go ahead, vote against PAP.

    Why?
Even if the 1 in a million chance happens, and PAP loses the majority, what will happen? PAP will still form the minority government. It will still be the biggest party in Parliament. It can easily induce some small party to join them for a minority government.

Think. If your party has 5 MPs, and PAP offers you two minister positions, will you take it? Of course lah, each minister is a $10 million salary jackpot over 5 years, and the lucky fellows become qualified to run for President. Which party can reject such an offer?

Conclusion: No matter how you vote, PAP will still form the next government. If they become the minority government, rest assured they will give you lots of goodies, such as lower GST, cut water tax, and early CPF withdrawal with high CPF returns.

Go ahead. Vote against PAP. They will give you lots of goodies. Surely $23,225 and not $600 only.

  • Boh Kia See:

The crying need for Singapore and Singaporeans are new ideas and new models of governing in tune with the times. We are not getting it from the PAP. So in order for Singapore to move to the next level we need to remove the PAP from governing totally.

So long as the PAP is still the Government–all opposition parties and politicians will be blowing in the wind. Nothing will change–simply more hot air.

This group of PAP “leaders” have not implemented anything new. They are simply carrying out what the early leaders did. For example, building and developing Changi airport. It is the continuation of what commenced many years ago–no change–just more expensive and opulent. this is for a time when the world is facing a recession. It seems out of place and out of context. They build HDB housing, same blocks except smaller and more expensive. Any new thinking there?

If only more opposition are elected into Parliament, we are saying that the PAP’s policies and mindset are basically sound–just a tweak here and there. In my view that is incorrect. We need a total shift in paradigm concerning the role of Government and its responsibility to the citizens. Currently we have the citizens supporting the weight of an expensive Government that looks after itself.

So go all out to convince the politariate that the PAP must go as a condition for Singapore to progress. There is mo other way.

VTO the PAP–totally and completely. Aim for this goal.

VTO? But who will unite the opposition? With our electoral system is hard to predict the pathway to 1/3 opposition. I agree some of the current Opposition candidates seem credible and would like the chance to see more of them. BUT, even with single-ward electoral map, the formula to achieve 1/3 opposition is unpredictable. And like majority of Singaporeans, we fret if the Opposition form the next government in a coalition of parties… omg imagine the chaos! Singaporeans we are practical, yes there is increasing anger and disappointment among locals, but many are still pro status quo, but welcome incremental changes to the political landscape and parliamentary representation. I can understand the elderly uncles and aunties many of whom are uneducated fearful of voting opposition.

However, for the educated who have that imaginery fear are real idiots. In the first place, you are exercising you democratic rights as a citizen. Another stupid fear is the serial number written on the ballot paper.

For the umpteenth time, even opposition have given the assurance that the vote is secret.

Still not convince? The purpose of the serial number is to trace any doubtful voter eg who may want to vote twice. After counting, the ballot papers are stored in the vault of the High Court and send for incineration after 6 months if there is no petition.

Still kiasi? Nobody can stop you from voting the opposition and the fears such as somebody overlooking over your shoulders, getting a knock on the door at 3am, unable to apply for flats, loosing my job, etc are all unfounded.

This fear tactics are useful in the 60s when so called pro-communists tried to infiltrate and rule Singapore.

SINGAPORE – The Reform Party unveiled its first batch of candidates on Monday (June 15), setting up a possible three-cornered fight with the PAP and the Progress Singapore Party in West Coast GRC.

During a livestream on Facebook, RP secretary-general Kenneth Jeyaretnam introduced six candidates, three of them entering their first electoral contest.

The party intends to return to West Coast GRC, where it contested in 2011 and 2015, in addition to fielding candidates in Ang Mo Kio GRC, Radin Mas and Yio Chu Kang.

Though RP did not specify where the different candidates unveiled would be fielded, three of those introduced were part of the five-person team led by Mr Jeyaretnam that contested West Coast GRC at the last election.

They are party chairman Andy Zhu, 37, who is a marketing director at a real estate agency; human resources practitioner Darren Soh, 52; and Madam Noraini Yunus, 52, who works in telemarketing.

The RP team garnered 21.4 per cent of the vote in 2015. PAP won the GRC with 78.6 per cent of the vote then, led by Mr Lim Hng Kiang, who was then Minister for Trade and Industry. The team comprised Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran, Ms Foo Mee Har and Mr Patrick Tay.

Last Friday, The Straits Times reported that the Progress Singapore Party is close to finalising its candidates who will join Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s team in West Coast GRC…. “Unquote.

Response : Reform party should not contest in West Coast GRC and let Tan Cheng Bock contest because West Coast GRC is Tan Cheng Bock past strong supporters there where he is previously MP if I remember correctly. Reform Party will only dpoilt Tan Cheng Bock chances. I quite remember Tan Cher NG Bock father a very high votes at one past General Election.Refom Party gas Mo chance there really. Only Tan Cheng Bock has a chance against either Fool me heart or maybe Tharman there.
