What if Singaporeans wake up on July 11 to see a 93-0 scoreline?

The Workers’ Party has been warning that a wipeout – the People’s Action Action having a clean sweep of all 93 seats – is a real possibility.

The PAP also seems confident of such an outcome. Lee Hsien Loong and his comrades have been taking turns to tell voters that no matter what the election results are, there will be at least 12 opposition Non-Constituency Members of Parliament.

It’s partly an election ploy and partly to assure voters that even in a wipeout, there will still be 12 NCMPs.

If a wipeout materialises, the first question Singaporeans will ask is: How did it happen? Simple – it happened because YOU VOTED FOR IT!

To this end, the Workers’ Party has a timely message: its GE2020 slogan is “Make Your Vote Count.” However, if Singaporeans fail to heed this message and fail to make our vote count, then we cannot complain about the result.

The Progress Singapore Party also has a cogent message: its slogan is “You Deserve Better.” But if the outcome for GE2020 is a wipeout, then the conclusion has to be that Singaporeans do not deserve better.

We deserve no accountability for COVID-19 mishandling, we deserve a GST hike soonest, we deserve competition for jobs from foreigners, we deserve to be called “sia suay.”

Polling Day is a week away. It’s all in our hands. Do we deserve better?

  • The Covid-19 fear works both ways. I would not rule out a full defeat of the opposition parties as most dafts believe that without the party, the civil service in itself cannot function. These dafts seem to think that the various ministries are run by ministers and perm secs are for show only. So without the Santa Clause to sign cheques, there may not be any doctors to treat them should they fall victim to Covid-19.

On the other hand, these dafts may have already woken up realizing that the current party is putting politics above health and lives, so they may swing the other way.

The current voter base is also relatively young and more educated, so it is possible that more would be willing to risk not voting the party and take a certain level of risks.

    Only time will tell.

On a related note, now that the number of seats have been increased to 93, I fail to see how the oppos can managed to secure 31 seats for a 1/3.

Even if the oppos win 4 GRCS, it wouldn’t even be close. They have to take a minimum of 6 GRCs and/or 4 GRCs and all the SMCs to even come close.

    Anyone?

Looking through all the electioneering guff, if seems to me that the political parties are trying to outdo each other for what they can do.
You see a lot of “we will focus on municipal issues; we will have plans for the community”etc.

I just wish to state a point, that parties and MPs are not estate managers. The important thing is to see that the policies of the parties are able to channel the aspirations of the citizens. They should concentrate on the big picture that confronts Singapore now and in the near future. Cleaning loong kangs and sweeping the streets are not activities we are voting for.

The PAP thinks that citizens should simply concentrate on these little things and they can be elected. The idea of lifting the performance of the economy do not seem to have the same air time as other basic issues. We hear about the PAP focusing on creating jobs as their priority. How how this is going to be achieved seems to be drowned in verbosity. Job creation is the consequence of a robust economy. So how to you create jobs without addressing what you are going to do with the economy.

The NCMP is an attempt to keep the PAP in office. The point is that the NCMP personnel do not have the mandate of the people. So how can they be acting as a check on the PAP? The PAP seems to have forgotten that it is the people’s votes that keeps them in office. Here again, we see the PAP trying to downplay the role of the citizens in society.

It is time to for a change. The so-called 4G PAP leaders seems to be less astute and may even lack behind opposition leaders in terms of political experience and work experience. They are mentioned by others “paper shufflers” in the past who discovered the gravy train.

VTO–the PAP for a better and more sustainable Singapore.

The elderly workers can sweep clean the floor. But never a clean sweep can happen when more
and more people are beginning to wake up.

However, there are some who are politically oblivious and contented so long they could feel what a nice day to have a big cock to wake one up every morning.

AND in that morning when one wakes up with a 93-0, all cocks cunt crow and grow any longer…

Are we still happy to see nepotism practised even by the PM of the country?
Are we still happy to see so many foreign workers when so many Singaporeans had lost their jobs?
Do we accept they say they do a good job when after more than two months, we still see hundreds of cases every day of infections in the dormitories?
Must we not hold them responsible for bringing the economy down with their failure to contain the virus in the dormitories?
Do we still accept the bullying tactic clearly shown by VB, LSL,TCH, etc?
Do we still accept that they withhold public information by classifying them as state secrets?
ARE WE STILL HAPPY WITH POFMA THAT GIVE ARBITRARY POWER TO THEMSELVES?
Do we accept alternative voices for a more lively debate in Parliament?

Total wipeout is a reality. PAP wins, singaporeans will lose big big. In fact, the pap mps are doing the minimal for the campaign as they think they will win big. Many neighbors have not seen their MPs for a decade or loudspeakers on lorry blaring out vote pap and runners distributing pamphlets.

Kiasi singaporeans should think twice. we are in middle of pandemic. Still 200 cases a day, cannot trust the pap to do a good job. why call an electio now? because the pap is scared they may screw up the covid situation further. See how Trump and other world leaders screw up big time. They know singaporeans are scared amd will vote for pap.

If you are scared, you should note vote for PAP. Because the oppo will habe to work hard if they are elected. And PAP wannabe will habe to work harder for you. Kiasi singaporeans will get two harder working mps for the price of one. If you vote pap, they will be half time or even quarter time mps, skipping parliaments, outsourcing municipal duties and you discourage good oppo mena and women to enter politics. Vote PAP amd your lives will be at risk (maybe from their mishandling of covid), your kobs will be given to foreigners and your future will be at risk.
