Movement for change

It is a common habit for people to take a negative approach towards any issue. This is reflected by:

a) Look for what is wrong
b) Imagine what could go wrong, even if the likelihood is remote
c) Create unnecessary fear.

It is possible to take a positive approach. This is reflected by

a) Look for what is right
b) See how the change can improve on the current situation
c) Create optimism towards the change.

There is a pervasive feeling that one has to be confident that the change will work, before they can express support for the change. I disagree with this approach.

I prefer to express support and confidence about the change, even though it may not be the perfect solution or may not be ready at this time.

Change does take time. We still have to overcome many obstacles ahead.

If the change does appear to be better than the current situation, we should express tentative support for the change, and work to sort out the obstacles.

This is how a positive approach can make things happen, and happen quite quickly.

    Best outcome for Singapore…
Would have been better that West Coast GRC goes to PSP..
A swing of nearly 27% is no small feat…Doubt WP could do better there.

Wedsite like this and opposition can celebrate that they had made a difference towards greater acknowledgement of their “voices of and for the people” and the people can go aljunie kopitiam to olay olay olay with beer drinking uncles after that, go home and collect govt “love gifts” before going back to driving taxi or your lexus suv.
May the same type of people who politely argue with each other collecting fat pay cheques continue to rouse more debate among tgemselves be happy happy

  • xoxo:

Dr Tan is the current OPPO LEADER despite not getting a GRC.
He is an experienced lawmaker who dared to surface issues in Parliament.

Pritam Singh is much less seasoned.
He should consult Dr Tan and work closely with PSP and SDP.

If these 3 parties work more closely together,PAP will work harder for SGS!

in next GE, East Coast goes to WP, Marine Parade goes to WP, West Coast goes to PSP.

by then, pap has redrawn the map.

even so, any other precinct, as long as contested by WP or PSP, shall go to WP and PSP.

    for sure.

    guaranteed.

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

Straits Times Singapore GE2020: PAP will have to review broader issues behind overall swing in votes, says Tan Chuan-Jin

Despite very limited campaigning (no rallies) and MASSIVE SPENING ($BILLONS) of reserves for “pandemic support” PAP lost a SIGNIFICANT 10% support.

    Takeaways for GE2020

    (1) If it was a “normal election” PAP would most likely have lost a lot more – 2 or even 3 GRCs and at least 2 SMCs.

    (2) PAP’s (LKY’s) election “playbook” is obsolete. “Fear and cash” no longer works. Internet and social media are “game changers”.

    (3) No more “blank cheques” for PAP

    (4) LHL needs to accept responsibility for the disastrous election results and promptly step down. He is a FAILURE.

  • No more "LKY effect":

PAP got a 10% boost in support during GE2015 because voters wanted to “thank” LKY. (They will regret this later when the whole truth about LKY comes out.)

The 10 drop in support during GE2020 was really support to happen during GE2015. That is why 2 SMCs were created to limit the damage. It is clear LKY was no longer relevant for GE2020. This election was a judgement on LHL and he FAILED big-time even after giving out billions to voters (for the pandemic) and limiting campaigning. If he stay on to fix the decline in support it will be a big mistake. LHL has too much “baggage” to make the necessary changes. Hubris will preclude him from changing because like his father change is an admission of a mistake/failure. Did LKY ever admit he made a mistake?

PAP suffers from “group think” because its leadership (and most of its MPs) are civil servants (includes ex-SAF). No one from the competitive private sector used to risk-taking. LHL and his Cabinet are just a bunch of risk-averse administrators with a lot of “baggage”, no risk takers.

  • Tracey Ching:

Ah Tan, whatever changes, most likely you would not be around to see. The only change for Singapore which is happening right now before all of our noses which is the constant gradual decline of the nation. But for the fact of our unfair election practices, those pappies that only garner 50 to 55 percentage points; they would had lost the election. These includes the useless woman general @54%, information mama minister @51% and our future pm hsk @ 53%

  • WRONG! WRONG!:

TKL is absolutely WRONG. It is obvious he is not a business person

It is better to focus on the “negative” because it requires change/action to fix it. No point wasting time on the “positive” because it does need fixing.

Successful business people focus on the “negative” (“downside” or risk) because it result in a loss of money. The “positive” (“upside”) takes care of itself.

  • Lower Voting Age to 18:

–Malaysia’s MPs approve amendment to lower voting age from 21 to 18—
    Jul 16, 2019
Our youngest MP is only 26.
93% of countries that votes have 18 as voting age.
Any 18 year-old out there want to start a petition calling for lowering the voting age.
Time to join civilisation; Malaysia did in 2019.
Perhaps WP MP Raeesah want to start the ball rolling.

    Overstatement.

Mr Tan CB still lost when even LHY rally for him.

If without LHY, percentage might be even lower.

    Yes, positive change coming.

Pritnam accepts Leader of the Opposition, also known as Shadow Prime Minister. In all countries, this official position comes with substantial pay.

Can’t wait for the Shadow Prime Minister to reveal his Shadow Cabinet of Shadow Ministers. In all countries, Shadow Ministers get substantial pay.

If PSP rejects NCMP, Nicole Seah could become an NCMP and a Shadow Minister!

    Imagine that! HUAT AH!
