Inflow of foreigners

Many Singaporeans are angry at the inflow of foreigners who take over their jobs and become new citizens. They vent their anger against the immigrants.

I hold a different view.

I understand that the migrants also face a challenge in adapting to a new country and culture. Their families also face the same difficulty.

Singaporeans will also face similar difficulties when they migrate to another country. They also have to face the xenophobic reaction from the locals there.

There are advantages to a country to welcome immigrants who can contribute to the dynamism of their economy and society.

However, in the case of Singapore, the problems caused by the migrants to the local workforce is daunting and disruptive to a harmful extent. They overcome the benefits that are brought by the immigrants.

Why is this the case?

Employers in Singapore prefer to employ foreigners, rather than locals, for the following reasons:

a) They have to incur the cost of CPF contributions for employing locals
b) They have to suffer disruption in their operations when the locals are called up for reservist duties.

While the employer have to pay a levy for employing foreign workers at the lower levels, which help to equalize the wage cost to some extent, they are exempt from paying the levy for higher level foreigners on employment pass.

I do not understand the logic of exempting the higher level foreigners from the levy. It is a glaring anomaly which has been ignored by the PAP ministers for two decades!

There are other factors that make the employer prefer to employ foreign workers, such as the difference in  work attitude and expectations between locals and foreign workers. I believe that this can be corrected, if the two factors outlined earlier are sorted out.

It is very disappointing that several manpower ministers failed to recognize the root cause of the problems and address them properly during the past two decades.

Instead, their introduced ineffective measures, such as the “fair employment framework”. They did not work and caused a loss of many years.

It will be a blemish on their records. History will judge them.

It is very important for the government to take the following actions immediately:

a) Introduce the levy on employment pass holders.
b) Exempt citizens from reservist duty after they pass the age of 25 years
c) Provide a wage subsidy for small employers to employ locals – so that these jobs can give an adequate income to the workers and be viable for the small businesses.

I wish to give these suggestions for the next minister of manpower to consider.

Do you agree?

Tan Kin Lian

  • REGIME CHANGE is the solution:

The exemption of foreigners from CPF tilts the local playing field for jobs in their favour screwing Singaporean PMETs. This is one of the biggest mistakes made by PAP. It will not admit this because of its hubris. (Did LKY ever admit he made a mistake?) A change in policy is considered an admission a mistake was made. That is why PAP will NEVER change. This is a compelling reason for regime change.

PAP covered up the problem by emphasizing training. This will not work. Why? Because there will ALWAYS be a “cheaper” (no CPF) foreign worker with the same (if not more) skills at lower pay.

Yes, the 10-year reservist cycle is too long. And it puts Singapore young men at a disadvantage in the job market. Also, psychologically speaking it places them under undue obligations towards the big brass oligarchy in civilan life too, under ex generals and colonels who are without exception, Pappy partisans.

  • Went to Japan:

    These are my reasons:

    1. Migrants need to adapt to new country and culture, the barrier of such against good jobs and pay overcome this barrier quiet easily. Ramesh, Diploma from Uptron paid $53000 a month at JP Morgan, owns 2 condos. Can he get such astronomical pay in India? Vice versa, would a Singaporean move to India and get low pay and live in dirty overcrowded place?

    2. Foreigners are moving to Singapore, they convert to locals, PRs and new citizens. On top, they bring their whole village and they hire their own friends. And this is one key reason to why so many foreigners are landing in Singapore and when a foreign manager is in management, he hires his own natives. So in the end, more and more locals are finding very hard to land jobs.

    3. Foreign talent the brand: This branding by PAP has made many foreigners with inferior qualifications or experience very arrogant. Look at Ramesh and how he treated the security guards. I am seeing foreigners talking down locals and telling us without them we are nothing. So many foreigners especially those in higher management have their heads bloated by PAP’s branding them as talents and believing they are miles ahead of locals.

This foreign talent or xenophobia or discrimination will not go away, it will become worst and worst as they continue to import foreigners and locals end up underemployed or unemployed. This will cause the friction between locals and third world foreigners becoming very obvious and problems. As you can see many third world foreigners with inferior qualifications are having good jobs and converted to locals are on social media defending the PAP or themselves against outbursts.

We, locals cannot be too kind and forgiving, the foreigners have the backing of this regime, their heads will get bigger and bigger. So locals must step up and let their anger or frustrations be known to PAP to have them reflect.

But again, the white party is used to grow GDP with massive population growth, they have gained more supporters and votes through this strategy and we believe it will not change and we expect the population to breach 6M before 2025.

And our national day song is going to be sung by new Singaporean from Indonesia, the sign is there.

@ TKL, SHALLOW PANDERING – the real problem is UNSUSTAINABLE FAKE ECONOMICS.

At risks of simplicity of generalised economic modelling, it is

Population + migration intake + productivity = GDP growth

When foreign migration intake SUBSTITUTES local labour (“population” in the above formula) and/or falling productivity – THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE EQUATION DESMONSTRATE NO GAIN achieved or achievable.

What happens to the RIGHT HAND SIDE of the equation?

It will be either meager economic growth or no growth at all – UNLESS YOU ADD ON BIGGER AND BIGGER LOAD FACTOR of input via an EVER-EXPANDING foreign labor influx.

Without this ever-escalating foreign labor influx, GDP growth will die off.

LEE-jiapore economy is based on this FLAWED ECONOMIC MODEL.

Resources, space and infrastructure is limited, the EVER EXPANDING influx of foreign labor at an ACCELERATING rate means escalation of food, shelter, transportation demand pressure ADDING TO COSTS OF LIVING ESCALATION AND RAPIDLY EXPANDING LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS.

PAPpypolitics hide local unemployment number by trickery of statistical manipulation – by lumping foreign PR with Singaporeans calling the combined pool as “local”.

This deceptive concealment of Sinkies unemployed or underemployment makes beautiful statistics for political “ownself-praise-ownself” propaganda of economic achievement BUT ALL FAKE NEWS.

PAPpypolitic/PAPpynomics scam of Population Recycling Economics failed experiment/deception has hit the wall.

A lot of the baby boomers are out of work or underemployed and many of the fresh graduates are moonlighting in the gig economy part-time to survive.

  • Is PAP Looking After Locals?:

I was an IT Salesperson working for US Multinational company in Singapore during the early 1980s. I used to comb the tall buildings in the CBD from the top floor to the bottom and tried to sell to the banks in the CBD.

All the System Analysts, EDP Manager etc handling the IT System (especially Mainframes and Mini Computer Systems in these banks were local Singaporean especially Chinese. There were no Indian FTs as India was never a Financial Center.

However, there were some Indians working in Indian Overseas Banks and other banks from India.

Now my friends who sell to the banks mentioned that there are 95 per cent Indians FT working in the banks. These Indians FT have replaced Singaporean Chinese PMETS probably because of the CECA.

I read an Article written by Mr Ravi Velloor supporting the CECA Agreement saying that DBS Bank made a huge profits in their India Operations. This is a lie as DBS has just published their report recently saying that they made 2 millions US dollars and previously lose hundreds of millions of dollars in India. I discovered that Mr Ravi Velloor, from Bangalore India, is an Editor who in charge of our local Straits Times newspaper and I immediately decide to terminate my with the Straits Times.

  • One Day Singaporeans May Rebel:

As more foreigners especially Indians, Filipinos etc are allowed to come into Singapore to take over local jobs, the locals will be very angry and desperate.

In my opinion, when pushed to a corner, the locals may resort to violence or even start a revolution against the government. The local people are not afraid of the police force as 90 percent of them have been trained by the Singapore Armed Forces and are now Reservists and have been trained to kill.

I hope the day will never come when the locals resort to this action.

Invading Singapore Without Firing A Single Shot:

Singapore has been invaded by external forces without firing a single shot!

Tsun Tze said, “The supreme art of war is to capture another’s country without fighting.”

Singaporeans have the right to defend our livelihoods, our survival and our country against any form of foreign Invasion. In fact, it is our duty and responsibility to do so. Anyone who sides with the foreign invaders is a trait**.

Singaporeans are trained soldiers, trained to defend our country against external threats. However, if Singapore leaders have traitorously allowed and cooperated with foreigners to invade Singapore, then Singapore soldiers have the right to defend ourselves against these traitors too.

Owing to the cooperation of a few of our ungrateful leaders with the aggressors, we have been invaded without even knowing it.

The invaders used a subtle and new weapon of mass destruction (WMD) called CECA (Complete Extermination of Careers Aggressively) to cripple us and destroy our livelihoods and our life support first.

After which their spies infiltrate into the heart of our sanctuary through the Trojan Horse device called New Citizenship.

Once they become New Citizens, they started to hold positions of power and influence such as Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer, Directors of Human Resource and Financial Controllers.

Slowly but surely, they also infiltrated into our main news media, such as Straits Times and CNA as editors, journalists and associates
in order to influence public opinions.

Some of these aggressor-in-disguise New Citizens have already infiltrated into our grassroots organisations and a few of them have shown political ambition by participating in our political Elections to test water, with the long-term view of capturing political power and take over the governing of Singapore under the direction of India.

Therefore, it is a matter of urgency and a matter of our survival that all Singaporeans must wake up before it is too late. Now is the time to unite and fight back to defend ourselves and to take back our country and our livelihoods. Without certainty about our livelihoods, we will be condemned to a miserable life for sure. Our future generations will curse at us if we do not stand up and act NOW!
