Recalcitrant companies that have being placed on MOM’s watchlist

I would like to suggest that recalcitrant companies that have being placed on MOM’s watchlist and have not made satisfactory efforts within a certain timeframe at improving their discriminatory hiring practices should be exposed, shamed and employment priveleges be withdrawn for deliberately flouting our fair employment practices. Repeat offenders should be appropriately punished.

In this very challenging and uncertain time, MOM must be absolutely clear about its roles and its primary duties that it owes to Singaporeans and Singaporean job seekers.

In a time like this, even a government such as the pap government can no longer afford to suck up to such companies or financial institutions at the expense of our citizens and get away again and again with no political cost simply because we have a majority of unthinking, blind sucking, meek and indifferent citizenry.

I hope that the >1200 companies have been warned enough and that they must understand that government’s patience is not unlimited.

As for those 61% of Suckerporeans, they must also understand that it is theirs or their loved one’s opportunities and livelihoods that will be at stake or even sacrificed and not the salaries of ministers and MPs whom they have elected when crunch times bite.

    The company that I used to work in was 99.9% FT. Over the last decade the locals have all been replaced by South Asian village people and then more recently by Hong Kong refugees. They are here to stay. And grow. Like cancer.

    It is only a matter of time – before the next GE (as if it matters) – when no $G born will be employed in anything worthwhile except front desk civil servants, government cleaning services and the cannon-fodder military.

    First of all, if MOM is serious about fair employment practices and if they’re truly doing their jobs, they wouldn’t have any how issued work passes! Without the work passes from MOM, can those companies be doing what they’re doing?

    @Simon. If the same traffic junction has >1200 accidents & fatalities, we know very well that the relevant authority LTA is idling and procrastinating. Remember the Ferrari accident at the Victoria St & Rochore Rd at Bugis MRT that caused the life of Comfort Taxi driver & his Japanese passenger? It took another 2 minor accidents before LTA finally added the overhead traffic light to fix the signal light deficiency. Now it has taken >1200 companies after so many years for MOM/ICA to “take notice” of unfair hiring practice. The number of PMET casualties suffering mental anguish are worse than traffic accidents.

    Should take action against such recalcitrant companies now.
    Go through their FT and terminate some of their passes,especially those related (eg brother in law,brother,sister,sister in law, etc),
    Stop renew or approved any passes FT from such companies.
    Better still publish their names.
    Remove any FT involve with approving process in MOM also.
    Serious action needed in such trying time now…more Singaporean jobs will be lost.

    It is important to note that these companies would not have been so bold to take in so many of their kind had it not been MOM approving their work passes! These companies will send in the applications and if approved will send in more as no one stopped them.
    Now, MOM says that something is wrong! Look inwards into the SOP and those who approved these passes and not pointing fingers at these companies!

    According to CNA quote: “More than 1200 employers have been scrutinised under the framework since 2016″ Unquote. We are now in 2020 and this practice is still rampant. If anything, employers have become emboldened. Why? because our Minister has been “puss*-footing” around!

    We pride ourselves as a “fine” city and extremely good in striking fear in many groups of people but when it comes to recalcitrant employers who discriminate against Singaporeans job-seekers, they show too much patience and ineffective.

    Minister, you are paid well so don’t just talk. DO IT!

    As my mother in law lay dying, the Pinoy Doctors and pinoy Nurses did not speak to the waiting families unless queried.

    There was no sense of urgency or any attempts to revive her. Just hooked her up to the machines and they went about their business.

    The first place to reduce FTs is at our hospitals. Go count the number of Indian and Pinoy doctors in any polyclinic.

    1) Why Sporeans want high salary? Because things are very expensive. Wtaer bill up by unprecedented and staggering 30%!!!

    2) Employers always want to pay low because they are squeezed by other fixed costs by govt. Eg rental, tax. So the easier way is to bully employyes to accept lower pay.

    3) Since India 3 month diploma is so good. Then close down MOE, NUS, NTU and all poly, schools etc. Worthless.

    4) Singaporeans only want high pay and comfortable office. Who don’t want? You don’t want ? Foreigners don’t want? Isn’t that’s the reason why FTs are coming to Spore?

    5) FTs are even lazier than locals. They are good are talking only. My experiece with the service they provide. They come here also job hop. Who does not want better opportunities better pay?
