Wishing TRE Andrew a Speedy Recovery and God Bless

Dear Andrew

I am so sorry to hear about this incident.

You have done so much for TRE and all true-blue Singaporeans and I will not be able to forgive myself if I do not do my part to help.

Hope to see you well again, back on your feet here in Singapore soon.

Please take care and stay strong, stay safe!

Sincere Regards.

Mark Tay

  • Dreamer:

I met him in 2011 at Boat Quay for beer, when he was forced to return to Singapore to renew his passport because the CID was then investigating someone in Temasek Review (he was a witness).

He is just a normal person like any one of us lesser mortals on TRE but what impressed me was that he wasn’t afraid to share with me (a complete stranger – I had only corresponded with him on emails) that he had spent almost a year in detention and also fined because he went AWOL, among other petty things. He shared that he was forced by circumstances at that time and told me the why and how, but I would not share it here out of respect for his privacy.

He told me that he deeply regretted what he did during his younger years but said that he has since moved on after having repaid all his dues to society. China was an avenue for him to start all over again from fresh and he did. He has remained there since.

As for why he joined TRE. He felt that it was a platform that gave voice to the voiceless, people like him, and he could in the process earn some pocket money from its maintenance.

So I wouldn’t say Andrew is a great man, just a changed and down-to-earth man. I believe that at 54 (if my memory serves me well), he just wishes to live out the rest of his life with his wife in China. Due to his wife’s sickness, they have no children but he told me that he has no regrets because he has a wife that loves him very much.

This is the Andrew that I have had the privilege of knowing and come to respect.

  • PAP mandate strong:

Earlier, Many were against holding GE during this pandemic. Especially some of the scare shitless oppies supporters here including this techie for the fear of Covid19.

As i state earlier even if you avoided Covid19, u may kena some other illnesses e.g. heart attack or kidney failure …. or accidents resulting in paralysis…..etc!

Apparently proven by your kind. He’s in China and avoided Covid19 but stricken by stroke. Realistically speaking, Heaven’s mandate or travesty ?

  • Protect Aliens Party:

    好心有好报

Everything happens for a reason. Hope Andrew’s family will think positive.

Perhaps it’s Heaven’s will to give Andrew a much needed break as he has been working very hard. Andrew will get well soon and live a long and prosperous life.

I’ll chant and pray hard for Andrew’s speedy recovery.
