Stolen NTUC Shopping Vouchers

Parliament should be a venue to discuss ideas and policies and the way forward for the people. It is the highest court in the land so making of laws to help the people is sacrosanct as part of their duties. Laws such as minimum wage for the lowest of lowest workers merit their utmost attention.

Discussing whether shopping vouchers were stolen by opportunistic thieving should not be wasting the time of lawmakers. Neither should they be closing their eyes when Parliament is in session as they are remuneratively well-rewarded.

The mailing of NTUC shopping vouchers by post to lower income recipients was really a poor way of showing leadership.

The unnecessary publicity and boastful announcements made prior to the posting out of vouchers lent weight for pilfering at the postal boxes.

Despite all the scholarly attributes, none of the staff in NTUC thought about allocating the $150 voucher online system-wide into its supermarket online credit.

After all, the NTUC system should by now capture all the information of lower income or poor citizens vide their supermarket membership cards, Merdeka cards or Pioneer cards.

Parliament should not be a place to discuss stolen vouchers, whether opportunistically or not. Let us leave this job to the SPF.’

  • Distribute cash lah, so simple:

One has to guess what is the point behind distributing vouchers instead of cash. Crediting bank account is so simple.

Why? Why? Is any individual or company benefiting tremendously from the voucher schemes?
