This scholar agrees that safe entry recording is useless

Dear Mr. Tan

I was a government scholar but for the past decade I have been working as an entrepreneur in the private sector in the info-tech field.

I read your post about safe entry and contact tracing. Based on my common sense, I wish to state that I agree with you completely.

With my knowledge of data processing, I cannot see how the data collected during the safe entry can be of any use. It must be a complete waste of resources to collect data that are quite useless.

Suppose an infected person had visited a location at a certain time, and the ministry is able to locate the people who had visited the same location around the same time, it does not mean that the other people have been infected.

I read that a person need to be within a certain distance from another person for a certain duration before the infection can be passed to the next person.

The safe entry record does not specify the duration and the distance.

The only reason to justify the use of the safe entry ambassador is that it create jobs for unemployed people.

I do not mind that these jobs are given to elderly people who cannot find other work. However, I have seen many young people take up this job. They can even earn more than $100 a day. It is quite attractive.

I agree with your view that the young people can be used to do the outdoor work that are now done by foreign workers – such as landscaping and road repair. But it is difficult to get them do do the outdoor work as it is hot and does not pay well.

Anyway, they will not want to do the outdoor work, if they can have an easy job as a safe entry ambassador.

Mr. Tan, I agree with your concern about the future for Singapore, if we continue to do unproductive work and if our young people do not learn useful skills for useful work. I wish you all the best in your effort to make people realize this problem. I agree with you.

  • Tremendous:

There are many ways to make use of safe entry records but the chiefs are clueless. Supported well by legions of idiots, that’s why they spend tons of money for nothing and get away.

  • NEVER ENDING INCREASES ,:

IT IS not that SINGAPOREANS DONT LIKE OUTDOOR JOBS LIKE IN THE CONSTRUCTION LIKE CARPENTERS, LABOR JOBS, TILERS ,PLUMBERS OR FOREMEN OR SUPERVIORS ON SITE.

THE REAL REASON THAT PUT SINGAPOREANS OFF, ARE THE SALARY IS TOO LOW AND UNATTRACTIVE.

BECAUSE EMPLOYERS LOOKING AT BOTTOM LINE TO MAKE MORE PROFITS WANT CHEAP FOREIGN LABOURS.

THEY ARE CALCULATIVE AS MUCH AS GAGMT IS CALCULATIVE IN MAKING RAKING IN REVENUES…….THROUGH A SERIES OF LEVIES, TAXES,INDIRECT TAXES ETC,ETC.

THE VERY HIGH COSTS OF LIVING, AND RUNNING FOR 7 YRS IN A ROW AS THE WORLD HIGHEST COST OF LIVING HERE,AND NO GAGMT SETTING UP A UNIVERSAL FUND ON MEDICAL HOSPITALSIATION TO PAY FULLY FOR THE C AND B WARDS….LIKE OTHER COUNTRIES,AND THE NEVER ENDING INCREASES IN MANY ITEMS LIKE CONSERVATIVE CHARGES, TRANSPORT TRAVEL INCREASES, WATER, ELECTRICAL CHARGES,EDUCATION COSTS,ERP,PARKING ETC,ETC IS KILLING BUSINESSSES AND LOCALS IN SINGAPORE.,

THIS IS THE CRUX OF THE PROBLEM, NO MINIMUM WAGES…..UNLIKE MORE THAN 120 COUNTRIES THAT HAVE MINIMUM WAGES.

EVEN MALAYSIA, CAMBODIA HAVE MINMUM WAGES.

the cookie jar (public fund) is so big and easily accessible that these white monkeys will not hesitate to throw away good monies at problem(s) without second thought, thereafter find some frontline low level scapegoat to take the blame once things go awry, as usual…..

  • Keep it Safe and Simple:

TT appears like another one of their pet projects to show the world that SG is a “smart nation” and therefore must push it through. It looks like it could still be in the experimental stages to see if it works; but there are none or so few community cases to test its effectiveness. So, what are they tracing? It could be another wasteful spending. Which company (GLC?) is behind this, and how much does it cost the tax-payers to fund the project? A smarter way is for people to keep their masks on all the time, and to require stores to provide hand wipes to shoppers.

  • for them to look forward to:

//I have seen many young people take up this job. They can even earn more than $100 a day. It is quite attractive.//

aiyoh. not enough ‘REAL’ jobs to go around ?? $100/- per day, wow better than min wage hor ???

at least (no choice lar), got activities to engage these young ppl and still earn $$$ as social distancing ambassadors ?? else, young minds will go crazy if there is nothing for them to look forward to lar ???

wonder whether the axiom (from the white monkey idiots and gang) that FTs are here to create jobs for daft sinkies still holds true ????

Safe entry policy must go hand in hand with TESTING.
NO PROPER NATION-WIDE TESTING AFTER ALMOST 1 YEAR OF COVID?
CAN THE MOH OR STATS DEPT CONFIRM 100 PCT THERE ARE ONLY 58/59 K number of cases here?

If PRs are grouped with sgs as * LOCALS* all other stats are BS!

Sad to see so many young people taking up Safe Ambassadors and safe entry jobs.
They should be doing something more productive for their future career.
Such temporary jobs should be done by our Seniors.

SINGAPORE – Each Singapore resident will be able to collect a pair of reusable masks from Nov 30, in the third nationwide mask distribution by Temasek Foundation.

Some vending machines across the island have already begun restocking the mask kits, with collection to begin at 10am on Nov 30 and will end on Dec 13.

Temasek chief executive and executive director Ho Ching said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Nov 19) that the masks are “breathable antimicrobial 3D masks” from local company Proshield.

The 3D masks are shaped to fit the face, and are similar to the ones distributed in the National Day pack for every household, she noted.

Each kit will consist of two reusable masks along with three additional filters.

The mask has a pocket where the filters can be inserted should users wish for more protection in crowded places, she added.

    ADVERTISEMENTCONTENT RESUMES ON SCROLL
They come in four sizes of small, medium, large, and extra large, with the small intended for children under eight years old only.

Ms Ho said people should check for a correct fit before collecting their masks, and those who fall in between sizes should opt for the next bigger size.

The water-repellent masks can also be washed and reused 30 times or more.

“With a proper fit, a 3D mask can sit nicely on the nose, and wraps under the chin, with enough room to breathe, and talk without the mask slipping down our nose,” said Ms Ho.

    ADVERTISING

According to Proshield’s website, the masks are made of polyester for good breathability. In addition, they have a particle filtration efficiency (PFE) of 97 per cent, and bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) of 99.85 per cent for up to 25 washes.

These measures indicate how much of droplets and bacteria can be filtered.

The PFE test measures how well the mask can filter tiny respiratory droplets of 0.1 microns or one millionth of a metre….”Unquote.

Response :Right,Safe Entry data is useless.”Free” mask even if useless , there is no harm collecting “free” mask.Is it really free ? I can only say that it is only free if it come out of HC pocket ? Else, cost recovery by price/tax increase later ,no mystery.
