Singaporeans’ life expectancy is among the world’s highest
Public sector reported that Singaporeans’ life expectancy is among the world’s highest with men at 81.4 and women at 85.7 respectively in 2019.
By right, longevity is reason enough for celebration especially in a world where so many rich, glamorous and young people die young. Among them were celebrities, sports personalities and even royalties, however, in Singapore, things are not so simple.
Very early every morning at many bus-stops across Singapore from Ang Mo Kio to Yishun and Bukit Merah etc, so many elderly Singaporeans and many of them easily into their 70s walking with bended knees and/or bended spines and a head full of white hair or bald, carrying a bag, waiting to board the first bus to go to work and almost everyone of them either work as cleaners at food courts, coffeeshops, hawker centres, sweepers or security guards etc…
Many of them are forced to work out of sheer necessity to survive in a very expensive city make possible by a government that many of them have repeatedly elected totally unaware of the full implications of their electoral choice and if anybody were to believe otherwise such as they are ‘exercising’ to pass time is utter insult, utter stupidity and self-delusion of the highest level.
Such longevity accolades in Singapore must be tampered with a sense of harsh reality and for too many of such struggling seniors, longevity is not likely to be blissful or blessing but a curse!
Think.

Life expectancy means nothing if there is nothing for you to expect?

What is the point of long life when they is no quality of life?
Look at so many of old seniors living with joint pain and still struggling to work at low paying job to survive.
Why so difficult to give them a basic monthly support to survive in this super rich Singapore ?
Why so difficult to get support from MSF for them ?MSF need a major shakeup to make it more responsive and efficient. Too many red tape and paperwork.
Nothing to be proud of if we can even take care of our elderly basic requirements….after the years of building Singapore.

Expectancy is different from reality, that Expectancy rate can be manipulated by our govt for their own personal agenda.
Currently average death is 72, not even near Japan 90.
So news about higher and higher expectancy from Singapore is unsubstantiated by facts or stats, it is manipulated.
If you see such, it will be followed by new changes to CPF.
They always play the same game.

What os the point of living so long if cannot even make ends meet? Hospital bills cannot pay. Medicine too expensive. Long life in $G for most people is a curse. Thanks to the government.

I totally agree with the author LONGEVITY for the common Singaporeans is a CURSE. Work till you drop death.Only the PAP ministers and their cronies ENJOY LONGEVITY paying golf and writing HALF TRUTHS.Even then KARMA will FUCK them in the end.Like the OLD BASTARD Lee Kayu suffered every day till he died.He did not have the quick end he wanted. He said that he will wake up from his grave if things go wrong for Singapore. Not only is things going horribly wrong for Singapore his family is also FCUKRD.His children at each other’s throats. His grandson the economics professor and his daughter-in-law being persecuted by the law.
What the old bast**d did to many families is now happening to his own blood. And if LHL do not MEND his ways he will suffer a worse faith then his old man.

What LONGEVITY l rather get my WHOLE CPF and ENJOY IT and die at 55 rather than begging for my OWN MONEY till I die a ripe old age without see it.
I CURSE all PAP and their self centred ways

Growing Old when you are poor and sickly is a Curse, Not a Blessing…
Wise saying by the Old … Better to Die than to Live to go into a Hospital where whatever left of your CPF & Saving is WIPED out as a Service Singing to your Health

If all die young, what would you have to say?
Pretty sure, nothing positive would come out from your mouth!

Better to have quality of life with health than a long life with sickness.
Long life may not be a blessing if you do not have money in Singapore.

Doctor Tan Cheng Bok and his West Coast GRC should be in Parliament. He’s been addressing the issue of Sinchiapor’s exploited old age cheap labour.

Yes, the following define the present-day productivity.
1 More and more elderly still have to slog to death,
earning barely enough to sustain living in a super
expensive country.
2 More and more youth are either jobless or
underemployed, experiencing job mismatch.
3 More and more married couples are struggling to
maintain their children; stressed out by the spiraling
high cost of living. Hence, the extremely low fertility
rate.
4 More and more cheap workers imported to take up jobs
that our youth can do.
This is the reality of a good governance…., indeed.

When you read about such govt-generated, controlled narrative re life expectancy it is time to expect govt to tweak the CPF drawdown age!
It will be more meaningful if it correlates report with world’s happy index!

Mahathir is the ultimate benchmark for future drawdown age.

Many elderlies vote PAP because PAP allow FTs in. The elderlies make income by letting out rooms.

OK to live long if you are healthy and have quality of life.
Better be gone if can’t survive in this super expensive Singapore.
Don’t expect help when you need it most…
One of the worst social net country for the elderly…must be able to depend on your self for your own needs.
