It is so confusing here in Singapore

Now I wonder. Is this legal? I held up my book in a public place without prior permission to be photographed.

What if I printed the cover out and pasted it on a placard? What if I added a smiley face to the printout that said “Support Me”. It is so confusing here in Singapore.

  • Halimah Totally USELESS:

there is no confusion at all.
Depends who is holding the placard – either you are with them or against them.
Let’s wait and see how the law is bended for their own kind.

FIF they dare to charge any wrong doing for selling a book in a public. Then I can say that the PAPPIES are just a bunch of bully.

Selling the book will not really destory or have any public disorder, it just simple that they are just as childish and petty.

  • Harder Truths:

It has been proven in studies about oppressive regimes that if nothing is done to stop them they get worse and worse.

People think if they keep out of trouble they will be left alone.

Wrong. Sooner or later whatever you do becomes a problem for them. So people will have to deal with the problem eventually.

Eventually is usually very expensive. Just ask the Burmese.

  • Dr Tan Tai Wei:

Perhaps we can make a not implausible guess as to how this silly law arose? Recall that incident when some two or three SDP members stood before the high court with a placard that read “Kangaroo Court” for LKY to see as he arrived to testify to sue. Of course, they then were charged and convicted for contempt of court. But perhaps that wasn’t enough. Perhaps, personages such as LKY took it personally, feeling personally insulted? So subsequently the strange law was concocted ruling that one person constituted an assembly of people, rationalised as being needed to maintain order, the real aim being otherwise? How else to explain the queer thinking behind it all?

@Dr Tan Tai Wei – if my memory serves me right, this ridiculous law was enacted to counter Dr Chee Soon Juan’s strategy of demonstrating individually instead of doing it together as a group because the SPF had told them that it was illegal. So instead of demonstrating as a group, they would split up and protest individually. And it worked as the SPF were not able to stop them because the law at that time did not make it illegal for people to protest individually rather than as a group.

If they did it once before, they can do it again … and again. Inside the boundary is not within the boundary? A Malay can be an Indian? This time, it might be that holding a placard outside the court-house is a violation of Public Order, but holding a placard outside hawker center is not? PAP is the law.

Actually its just FEAR Zperverting the entire singapore democracy.

If FEAR is removed, citizens will speak up so much and so well, ah kong will take the next plane and exit the scene.

But the citizens themselves allow themselves to be ruled by fear by intentionally letting democracy fail out of self interest.

Here is a video showing Japan conquering singapore in a climate of fear :

WHY HAVE WE COME TO THIS STAGE???

If you decide to terminate your insurance policy, make sure you do a thorough check and cancel all supplementary plans as well.

This is because some of these extra policies, or “riders” as they are commonly called, can still be in force even though the main policies have been cancelled. So you can still be charged premiums for these riders even though you do not want the coverage any more….”Unquote .

Response : When main policy is cancelled, how do riders still able to continue without a main policy ? Shouldn’t law be made mandatory to tie any rider with a main policy and that when main policy is cancelled, all other riders tie to it will automatically be cancelled to remove all confusions ! Very confusing in Singapore, isn’t it ? Is this another Kasisviswanathan Shanmugam law concern ? And when is the shameless LHL going to remove Kasisviswanathan Shanmugam from the Minister of Law position ? It is time to replace the Minister of Law position with another person maybe Lim Tean ! How come the big fat pig Lim Tean no more producing his popular series of “Lim Tean after work video” anymore ?

Singapore – A man was pronounced dead at the scene after being retrieved from East Coast Park’s waters on Monday (March 8).

On Monday, at about 7.04 am, the police were alerted to a case of suspected drowning at East Coast Park near the car park F3.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for water rescue assistance at 7.10 am. Upon arrival, rescuers spotted a body floating in the water. They retrieved the body from near the shoreline.

An SCDF paramedic pronounced the man dead at the scene, said the police in a todayonline.com report.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the 62-year-old man was a frequent visitor to the park, where he would fish.

Preliminary police investigations showed there is no foul play suspected.

    Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident on Jan 30, 2021, an elderly woman was found floating in the Singapore River outside Parliament House. Alive but unconscious when found, the 83-year-old was later pronounced dead at the hospital./TISG”Unquote .

Reported on TOC :Quote-”Victims of Sunshine Empire scam yet to recover lost money, since S’pore authorities confiscated S$21mil funds over 13 years ago

    by Aldgra F.

     29/03/2021…

While the masterminds behind multi-level marketing company Sunshine Empire — dubbed as Singapore’s biggest Ponzi scheme — were eventually prosecuted and convicted for their fraudulent dealings, it remains uncertain as to whether all of the victims of the elaborate scam could recover their money.
Through Sunshine Empire, thousands of unsuspecting Singaporeans had purchased close to 26,000 “lifestyle packages” ranging from S$240 to S$12,000 for 15 months between Aug 2006 and Nov 2007, lured by the promise of high returns at little to no investment risk.
Entrepreneur James Phang Wah, who owned the firm, was found guilty of criminal breach of trust. He subsequently served a nine-year prison sentence and paid a S$60,000 fine.
Phang was then extradited to Malaysia after the end of his jail term, after which he stood trial in Dec 2011 for violating Malaysia’s Banking and Financial Institutions Act due to accepting illegal deposits.
Sunshine Empire was charged in Malaysia in March 2009 under the same act for accepting deposits from the public without a valid licence. The company pleaded guilty and was fined RM2 million in June 2010.
Jackie Hoo Choon Cheat, Sunshine Empire’s director, was handed a seven-year jail term in Singapore. In August 2016, he was charged in Malaysia with the same offences upon being released from Singapore prison.
Phang’s wife, Neo Kuon Huay was fined S$60,000 for falsifying payment vouchers.
Phang and Hoo appealed…., but the court upheld the duo’s convictions in Sep 2012.

S’pore Govt has been “safekeeping” confiscated money for more than 10 years

The Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) raided the Sunshine Empire in Nov 2007. It had then only managed to recover S$21 million out of almost over S$190 million that was swindled from investors, who ranged from university students to retirees.
CAD’s position to the victims in 2013 was that it was “attending to matters concerning the disposal of the seized monies” and that the process to lodge a claim will be posted on its website when the matters had been finalised.
Around six years since the case and nearly two years since the CAD’s last reply regarding the status of the claims, CAD stated in an email to TOC that it was only able to “consider how to deal with the seized assets after September 2012, when the Courts of Appeal upheld the conviction of the persons involved”.
“Since then, we have been working towards finding an appropriate process to dispose of the assets seized,” said the department in an email on 16 June 2014, noting that it would entail a complicated process as this is one of its largest seizures and the number of potential claimants involved is “unprecedented”..”Unquote.

Reported on the TISG :Quote -”Elderly man who has more than S$40K in MediSave account gets only $580 a month, insufficient for his dental expenses
Why not let him pay for dental treatment fully with MediSave, Lim asks…

    Obbana Rajah
    DATE

    March 31, 2021…
Singapore — An elderly man shared with SDP’s Bryan Lim that even though he had more than S$40,000 in his MediSave Account, he was not able to use any of it for a dental procedure.

In a Facebook post on Monday (Mar 29), Mr Bryan Lim Boon Heng of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) shared that the 68-year-old retiree wrote to him last week “to express his disgust at not being able to use his Medisave for a simple tooth-filling procedure”.

Mr Lim added that the elderly Mr Tan received monthly Central Provident Fund (CPF) payouts of S$580. He noted that while the man did have a 30 per cent subsidy by using his Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) card, the rest of the bill would have to come out of the elderly man’s own pocket.

According to Mr Lim, Mr Tan would have to pay about $107 for the dental filling.

“Why make life so convoluted? I can afford the $107 from my own Medisave. Why make me pay cash, pretend to be generous and give me 30%? It is confusing & wasteful”, Mr Tan wrote.

“The very fact the government has to supplement the current 3Ms (Medisave, Medishield & Medifund) in our healthcare system with CHAS & top ups/subsidies in the Pioneer & Merdeka Generations packages only raises more questions than answers in terms of addressing the spiralling healthcare costs & the increasing unaffordability of healthcare for the man on the street”, Mr Lim wrote.

He explained that the SDP has proposed a “National Health Investment Fund” where individuals will contribute a regular premium to an insurance-like system when they do not require the service so that the cost will not be prohibitive when they require it.

Said Mr Lim: “Healthcare is a fundamental human right which needs to be addressed by a just and equitable system that makes it affordable for even the poorest among us”.

TISG has reached out to the CPF board for comment and clarification. /TISG…”Unquote .

Response : It is very confusing law in Singapore .This elderly man got more than $40,000 in his CPF Medisave but cannot use for a dental procedure ! Need to use own cash to pay for dental ? The CPF board die die hold onto our CPF but if you have enough CPF ,they allow you to invest your CPF in shares ,bonds,or whatever government approve .And if you invest in Hyflux share, all your CPF money also gone .Share is not without risk ! If you use for proper things of dental like this own man,CPF will block you from using ! Our CPF is a con people agency ! No ?

$107 for simple dental filling ? Isn’t that ridiculous expensive ! All those private dental easily charge from $150 up to $1000 depend on what service !Pui!
